Freddy: Yes, Phoebe's Big Three Notes at the end of the '75 original were the monumental highlight of the song. The key to the whole record- tears of joy each time!
I get a kick out of Chris' first little solo interlude, and Paul's reaction to it. Assuming that there was a rehearsal, my guess is that what Chris' played in the performance was not what he did in the rehearsal, and the Paul was both surprised and pleased by it (judging from his reaction). Gabe Witcher's (fiddle) part of the 2nd interlude was also very nice (as was Critter's), IMO.
I had the same reaction. If you want another example of someone reacting to another performer's handling of a song, check out David Rawlings and Gillian Welch as they accompany Solomon Burke on their song, Valley of Tears. ua-cam.com/video/2zqAe1vLMfA/v-deo.html
@@realfamilyman Well I believe Simon used the Dixon Singers on his "Still Crazy After All These Years LP from the mid 70's. "bridge Over Troubled Waters" was a gospel flavored tune, heck I'm sure I could pick out many "Gospel' type tunes from his LP's, he writes in many styles gospel/Latin/..he wrote a tune called "American Tune" check it out, that has many of the same chord changes as a Bach piece and it also is reminiscent of a hymn written by Dawn Rodgers and Eric Wyse called, "Wonderful, Merciful, Savior ua-cam.com/video/AFIAeNKyBoo/v-deo.html
Hello. 💐 Always a great performance!❤🙏💐
I’m sure Phoebe is up there in heaven smiling down and duetting with Paul once again, shaking the rafters with her incredible pipes.
The Master. Everybody loves Paul.
so many thanks Mr Paul Simon!
Exploding head talent. Incredible.... Unbelievable. Paul Simon is still a god. Even Chris has to be reverent.

This is a very cool version of this song.
Paul Simon is the Best Poet and Musician in my lifetime.
Shared first place with Stephen Sondheim, I'd say.
