- This is the first time I have done a review on mower. Just a walk around my 36 stand on. Talking about the machine, what I like and what I don't like. This is just my personal opinion and experience operating this machine since new. Sit back and enjoy!

My 36 standers too
most people cut their lawns to short making a weak root system and allowing weeds to take over and the grass to burn in hot weather you are spot on at the 2.75 - 3'' mark its different if they have say an underground sprinkler system keeping the grass in great shape but I dont see a lot of them around ...
Thank you!
The sound would be awful no doubt good idea with the pin good review I'm looking to buy one new as well for my company
They are amazing and reliable. It's still running strong. My go to mower!
Yeah mine rattles maybe I'll bungy it, hard ride too, but nice machine for gates, my Toro grandstand 48 is smooth ride and perfect too, no rattles but both have there place
Well said. Every machine has their pros and cons. For me it's a lot to do with dealer support. Thanks for watching!
Mike, where did you order that shoot blocker from...Great video
You can only get it from Grassflap. check out their website. Thank for watching.
They go for $10,000 now
That must be US Dollars then. Here in Canada, was around 12K back in 2019. Now, probably like 16K
Hey, hey Mike! Good video! Hope you're having a GREAT week! God bless.
Thanks Lou. So far so good. You have a great week also!
I have the 648m and I love it!!
They are awesome mowers. I have a 652R too!
I love my 636m. Just have to be very careful on wet slopes.
Absolutely!
Good to hear your dealer support is good for you. Toro warrant is 3 years on certain things and then 5 years on other things. Great video Mike.
Thanks Shawn!
It's a mix of a wright stander b and a wright stander i. Nice mower.
Yes! They are very similar. It all comes down to, what color do you like lol and dealer support. Thanks for watching!
Great video Man looking to buy the same model doing a lot of homework on it,
It's a great mower for sure. Other than the bit of rattle on bumps with the deck, I love it.
My dealer only had the 648m and I did mention the rattle and it had the same issue it’s noisy but that the only con really I loved it deciding vs 36vs48
Hi Mike, thanks for the video. I bought a used 2015 John Deere 636m with around 105 hours on it. I only use it to cut my lawn and my neighbors (I'm not a professional lawn care guy/company). Mine has the grass flap too which is nice. Overall I like the machine and would say it has more pros than cons. Mine also makes the deck rattling sound, I'll have to try your trick out to see if that helps. My only two other negatives about the mower would be that I wish the deck had anti-scalping wheels on either side on the front, as I have scalped the grass running the mower in and out of ditch areas. The other negative I have is I wish they would have designed that pocket, just forward of the battery, so that it had a built in cup holder. Sometimes it would be nice to have an insulated water bottle sitting there when you're mowing in the middle of summer in 35 degree Celsius (95f) heat. A disposable plastic water bottle fits but doesn't stay cold for long since its not insulated.
Nice score on the machine with only 105 hours. Hard to find these machines used around my area. You do have to be careful on grade changes not to scelp. You will learn what you can do and can't with it. Glad you enjoyed my video. Thanks for watching!
I obviously know nothing about lawn mowers but boy 18.5 HP? That's incredible
Ha, that is only on the 36 inch stand on. My 52 inch stand on has a 26.5 HP. You can get a lot more up to higher 30's in HP with some brands.
Great video Mike, My Wright 36” makes the same noise. I’ll have to try the extra pin 👍🏻 I think John deere inherited the noisy from the Wright design when Wright was building for John Deere
Thanks Mike. Ok, so it's just not me then? I adjusted the spring so the leaver is heavier to pull up. Still did nothing. Other than an extra pin, I don't know. Some heights the extra pin doesn't work. Thanks for watching!
Nice review 👌can't beat a good dealer 👍
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
Looks like that mower has been a great mower for you so far. Seems like a beast
Jon, honestly, it's my go to mower. It's used the most and I love it. I didn't mention in the video about the cut quality. It's amazing and it stripes awesome!
@@MBGAdventures there's a John deer dealer not far from my house, I might have to check it out
@@JonsDailyHustle Yeah! I would keep on buying John Deere.
Hey Mike great video I have the same machine and love it too but wish the front tires had more give and yes the mower deck handle raddles very noisy ..next season I'll try an o ring on the push part of the handle and see if the raddling stops I also run X blades and love it
Hi John, thanks for watching. They are nice machines. What I did with the rattle was put a second pin in where you lock the deck height. It seemed to calm it down a bit more and less noise. I know someone else that uses the X blades on this machine too. I don't know, I'm just hesitant. Gator blades work great for me.
@@MBGAdventures I run a straight high lift blade on the bottom and a mulching blade on top but I also have an Oregon blade balancer .. very accurate so the blades are better balance then factory I dont think I would be running X blades it I didn't have the balancer
Great video Mike I have the same John Deere mower 👍 mine does it too, I’ll have to try that extra pin.
I’m not far from you like an hour.
Hey bud, that's awesome you are in the same area, trying to build our lawn care community in Ontario up here on UA-cam. Hook up on Instagram. buschgreen_lawncare Thanks for watching!
BUSCH GREEN I have done so
I have my own landscaping business and I'm going to get a quick track stand on mower just like yours the one that you have.
You will really like it. It's my go to mower. They are so nimble and easy to work with. Congrats and have fun with the new 636M!
@@MBGAdventures Thank you you too.
Good review.. I want to get a stander . But there expensive. Wonder how the hande under and around low limbs
Yes, they do cost a bit more than a sit down. Depending on how tall you are depends on how far you have to bend down around limbs. This 636M handles amazing. Thanks for watching!
I wish John Deere made this in a 32”.
I’d buy it in a heart beat.
I have a coupe gates that are 30 inch wide. 30 would be good too to ride on. I use the 30 Toro Timemaster for that. Thanks for watching. 300 hour review will be up soon!
If the deck is bouncing reduce the weight on the lift spring. It is too balanced, hence the bounce. Make the deck heavier to lift and reduce the bounce. Life is all about trade offs.
Did try that. It still bounces around. Adding a second pin on the deck height adjustment helped. Thanks for the suggestion!
I think honestly In a 36 or smaller mower much better with a fixed deck. Whether that be a walk behind or a Wright stander small 36.. the deck is to small on 36s to quote float and too light.. I have noticed this with my bobcat/kubota stand on 36. Also a rough ride vs my bigger mowers..
Absolutely! Shorter wheel base, the ride is a lot different then a larger stand on. I have no issues with this 636M. It's my go to. Close to 300 hours now. It cuts perfect and the mower is so easy to operate. Very nimble. Thanks Robert!
That's a beautiful John Deere. Lots of respect for keeping your equipment clean Mike. My Cub Cadet makes a lot of noise when the deck it down. I see what you mean when you were shaking that lever up and down. That is loud and annoying Lol. That's cool you still got a warranty on it. Great video brother. Real sharp looking John Deere.
I super cleaned it the day before the video lol. Yes, I do keep my equipment clean but they are never perfect looking unless I clean them everyday. I make sure to blow them off everyday. Yeah, I am hearing now that this is common for the movement and noise not just on the Deere, but on the Wright too. My little fix with the extra pin helps a bit. On really bumpy lawns, it is so annoying. Thanks for watching Bill!
@@MBGAdventures I hope you didn't drink any like me Lol. Oh yea you sure do take care of your things. Yea I blow them off too and I remember you telling me to blow them off after washing and that's what I do now and it's faster than drying with a cloth. Wow I didn't know that it's a common problem. That was a good idea with the pin. I bet on bumpy yards that can be very annoying. Your very welcome and got to catch up on your other ones brother.
Very good review, the deck definitely shouldn’t be making noise. You might want to get it checked out. My Bradley 52 used to make noise and I stopped it by tightening up the screws on top of the deck. Good video tho
Thank you! Yes, I tried everything. I even brought it to my Dealer and they looked at it. It's a JD thing with the 36 stand on. Inserting a second pin so you have on top and bottom of deck height setting seems to make it less noisy. Thanks for watching!
@@MBGAdventures Hey as long as it works.
John Deere parts last a long time but replacement parts are super expensive.
I wouldn't know as my machines are fairly new and won't break. They are solid. I think all parts in general for everything is expensive. Thanks for watching!
@@MBGAdventures They are solid but Everything breaks. With John Deere having a small market share on these & parts being proprietary the parts can be an issue. Compare something simple like a Deere belt to a Exmark belt price. That Exmark part will be cheaper and you'll have more options to get it. I'm not bashing you, I have a John Deere mower also. I understand the durability of them. Just pointing out the parts situation to potential buyers.
Here in central Florida a lot of my lawns you mow locked out
Not sure what you mean, locked out? Thanks for watching.
Does the grass flap increase or decrease wheelie distance?
Funny how you bring this up. It actually increase my wheelie distance as I don't have to lean forward anymore to open and close the flap.
Nice video Mike. Looking forward to your snow plowing video now that Mark is semi retired. Lol
Thanks Wayne. I don't think I will be able to do as great as job on plowing videos like Mark did. I sure will miss his plowing videos too. I will try my best. I do have some if you look back to my first videos when I started my channel last December.
I will look for those. Take care
Thinking about buying the same machine early next spring. Quick question: Is there an option to have the Tweels on this model?
Yes there is. I thought about it too. I did use Tweels on my Z930M zero turn which I have sold now and did not like them on it as they marked lawns. With that being said, it was a heavy machine. The 36 stand on is obviously lighter.
I don't recommend tweelz on this i have them on my big deere they suck badly
@@Razrback I know what you mean. I was not impressed with them on my Z930M that I just recently sold. There is too much of a flat spot on them unless you are mowing at 15MPH lol.
@@MBGAdventures they tear up the turf and they don't hold slopes as good as air tires but yeah you don't get flats but weigh your options
Where did you get that chute blocker?
Straight from GrassFlap. They are awesome to deal with. Do a search and you will find their website. I am in Canada and most of the time it is a pain in the butt to get stuff from the States. Through email they communicated very fast and made the shipping easy with no extra cost for cross border. #grassflap
Where did you get the grass flap at just bought this same machine
I bought it from Grass Flap. www.grassflap.com You will love the both the 636M with the flap. Thanks for watching!
I want a John Deere stand on but it’s something about that gas tank being all out there in the open that’s just not sitting right with me lol
All gas tanks on stand on's are on the side. Thanks for watching!
@@MBGAdventures yeah most do! The new Bobcat ZS4000 doesn’t have their tank on the side, it’s inside. I wish JD did the same! Looks way cleaner lol I’m still debating between the 2, both are reputable brands for sure!
@@chizz12 Both mowers will do the same thing, cut grass. To me, it all comes down to dealer support. I have a John Deere dealer 5 minutes away. They are Stihl and Toro too. They have been nothing but great to me.
@@MBGAdventures yeah that’s definitely the 1st thing that should be looked at is dealer support! We have a bad boy zero turn that’s been treating us well! I feel like we need a debris loader for fall cleanups instead of using a tarp and rake
@@chizz12 it may look cleaner, but what happens when you need to do work on the engine or hydros? Might have to take the tank out for repairs. I'd rather have it out of the way personally.
Just picked mine up a Few hours ago the dealership was just closing and was starting to get dark so haven’t got a chance to test yet but wish I saw this video earlier so I could’ve question the hell out of the salesman 👨💼 haha
Congrats! You will love this machine. I have had NO problems with it. Almost 300 hours now. Take care of it, give it love, fresh oil and filters. You will be good!
@@MBGAdventures Hey Mike The mowers been great, I just have a question for you do you know how to adjust the brakes, The handbrake seems to have lost its tension, it’s very easy to engage and disengage, Have you already done a video on this? Thanks for any response at all, Ari
@@MBGAdventures hey Mike, I just figured it out it was easy sorry for the bother
@@orlandodrivewaycleaning4274 Awesome that you figured it out. I never had to do that on a mower before. I'm sure it's pretty simple to figure out. The manual would prob show the adjustment process.
I bought this is there any other grease points other than front wheels??????
Not that I know of.
@@MBGAdventures thank you
Great video! Any chance you are selling it before this coming season? Been looking for a used one.
Hi Andrew, she's a keeper forsure!
I wanna get one theses. Then I saw the price 😣
They are really nice machines. Yes, a bit pricey but worth it.
I’m going to save up for one
How much does this cost do you guys know by chance
In Canada it cost $11K tax in brand new spring of 2019
That John Deere stand on mower looks like Wright stander mowers is that John Deere good for picking up leafs??
Yes, it mulches amazing too with the right blades!
do you have any Wright dealers near by? Wright makes the deere quiktrak
Hey David, No, I don't have one near by. I know that Deere and Wright are very similar. The Wright owners don't want to admit that lol.
@@MBGAdventures lmao. if deere had their 7iron deck on the quiktrak id probably buy one
@@BioHazardra For sure man. I had a Z930M with the 7 Iron. I sold it last season as I went with stand on mowers. I do miss it. It was a great mower.

Here’s a clip of that clanking on the deck.. I would love to hear a video of how your pin fix sounds!!
