- The process of forging a blade from self-tapping screws, in two ways.
my website: sites.google.com/site/damasks...
Frequently Asked Questions: The billet is soaked in kerosene. This is necessary for good welding (forging) steel. I sprinkle flux (90% borax + 5% quartz sand + 5% charcoal powder) this is necessary for forging (forge) welding. The flux is alloyed with scale - the formed substance is sufficiently fluid and is easily displaced by deformation. In addition, the flux protects against oxygen and charcoal, carburizes the surface layer of metal - which lowers the welding temperature (if in brief). The first welding is done on a tree, since the wood is a heat insulator, and not so selects temperature as an iron anvil. In addition - burning, the tree burns oxygen, protecting the workpiece and pouring the flux work. This is important for welding workpieces with small parts (cable, chain). I do not answer the question of cost - write to mail: sites.google.com/site/damasks...

No talking...no music...just the sounds of metal being processed. I like it.
I'm with you Folma, happy I'm not the only one.
Me three! Sound of his work is the only thing that fits.
THANK YOU, maker!
It like sweet music. Magical symphonic of morphing metal
And the fast foward parts are really cool too.
Agree with you. I am french and lot's of french youtubers talk continuously, banding like a horse, listening their own fucking voice and squirting. When it's not necessary, talking to much is a real pain in the pussy.
I am very impressed by the quality of your forging! You always keep your pieces yellow orange so no place for cold forging that could weaken the metal structure. Also you keep your anvil clean of the scale. Not sure if if it changes anything since a lot of people I watched smitthing doesnt clean it but it feels really professional just as your finished products looks strong and beautiful. keep up the good work!
nice
No scrap of metal will be wasted while Dmitri is able to work it into his art!
I dont like some other guys spending half the video just yapping. This dude does not say a worr, no bullshit, just works and the results are fantastic
I like when people say worr in video.
@@Ummmmmkay88 I like when people reply just to correct other people sentenced without adding anything at all to the conversation.
I concur,,,, the look at me generation is upon us :)
I just watched it in reverse and now I know how to make screws! Thanks!
Using an angle grinder to weld on screw heads is a great tip!
hahahahahahaha.
I'm still wondering which planet this "Ukraine" is on...
isn't ukraine a province of russia? xd
Genius!! :D LOL
I cannot figure out why some people dislike this video! This is absolutely true art!!
Wonderful video formatting, editing, and camera angles. Always seeming to find a new or better angle on some of the machines really makes each video seem fresh. The combination of the picture updates as well as the video demonstrations also provide an excellent feeling of transformation of the metal. Keep up the fantastic work!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone hand forge a blade like that and have it look so perfect. That’s amazing.
NewGriff
Arsen MagomedoV
Dmitry, You are a world class knife-smith! Beautiful work. Videos are a joy to watch. Thanks.

Wow not only are your Damascus patterns exquisite, but every step of your forging and blademaking process is so masterful and precisely executed! Like, I’ve seen some horridly failed forge welds in stuff I’ve watched and on actual knives, but yours are the cleanest and most thoroughly executed I’ve ever seen. You make it look easy!?!, And your bladegrinding setup and method is just mindblowingly efficient to watch as someone who wants to get into blacksmithing someday and thinks “OHHH What a perfect tool for that job to ensure consistency between blades” (the grinder with the magnet plate, and the stopguard that you screw onto the blade before shaping the edge). I imagine those steps give you consistent shaping on the back of the blade and for the thickness of the tang, but let you have the freedom to grind as you wish for the rest of the shape and the edge itself! Very cool!

Hi, I've been following you for a few years now, you have passed on to me your passion for knives and damascus steel, this is the first time I write in general on UA-cam, I tried to search for your email but it hasn't existed for nowhere, I am also writing to make sure you are well after the latest events! thanks for what you do I hope to find you in health and tranquility! good luck!
Dmitry your blacksmith skills are absolutely amazing. Congrats. Wonderful job! Bravo.

If you do blacksmithing, you will get used to it. And its not the worst, just a second or two
Would love to see your finishing of work of the entire knife sword or whatever. You do so great looking blades but, a finished product would be awesome. Great work though.
I’m glad he used slow motion while he started hammering the tip. Fastest hammer I’ve ever seen. He could shingle a house in a hour.

I thought the Grover washer made a cool blade, but nowhere near as beautiful as this one. Wow Brother. You truly are talented beyond measure!!!

I love your videos. I think it would be real cool to see your process of putting a handle/scales on a knife. Start to finish knife making.
THATS WHAT IM SAYIN
