I've said it before and still maintain that Shurap is simply THE BEST Damascus/pattern welded steel bladesmith on UA-cam
He's not the best, but one of the best. Quintin Middleton (dunno his YT channel), Kyle Royer from KyleRoyerKnifes, and Ilya Alekseyev (ex Man At Arms) from ThatWorks are also incredibly skilled.
@@philipejeuceoututkache i do not know of the other two but I will 100% give you Ilya. That man is an absolute artist and insanely knowledgeable about all things metal. However, shurap, has pattern Damascus down to a science. He’s like the macguyver of layered metal.

I could watch this guy move metal all day long, definitely my favorite blade smith of all time. His thought process, execution, and knowledge of metals is unsurpassed by anyone in my opinion. Always incredible blades, I just wish he put out videos more frequently 👍

I used to think Damascus steel was only randomized patterns until finding this channel. You are truly a master of your craft if you can see such a pattern and bring it to fruition in the blade. Bravo

First time I ever seen this done I instantly fell in love with the technique of making these beautiful blades. I've collected 10 Damascus blades in the past few months and I still go home and admire them like it's the first time I've ever seen one. Love your vid
@@thegamingscotsman4376 Pattern welded steel is being used as damascus since the early 18th century and according to every article I could find about it, is internationally accepted as the modern form of damascus steel.
Craftsmanship at its best. Very satisfying video to watch. What is a Damascus blade? What makes it so unique? What are the advantages over other types of blades? What makes this different from kitchen knife? (to a newbie like me)
@@thegamingscotsman4376 The original method of making Damascus steel was "lost" to time due to religious erasure of people and history unfortunately.
@Everything's Eventual That's awesome. I really love metal work and trying to figure out how to work steel in super cooler temperatures by trying alloy work and raw refining. Seeing stuff like this gives me so much inspiration, just fire and metal is hard to play with when your a single dad 😅
@Everything's Eventual Hell yeah. Just a disabled vet too in America. Lucky to be unlucky and have time to be q great dad I want to be. Plus I need to invest in some some tools first, luckly I live in an iron rich area.
