@@Valfara770 Starcraft 2 started development way before the activision merger, and what usually happens is that when a bigger company like activision joins in then it takes some time before you feel the changes coming, those usually doesn't happen instant.
So i think what he means is that Starcraft 2 is one of the last titles Blizzard really created without too much activision influence, after that it becomes easier to feel the activision presence in their decisions and the greed for more money instead of focusing more on creating quality games.

the Astartes would have no trouble dealing with the terran dominion marines. You were right in your initial assessment. They are basically Guardsmen in very fancy and strong armor. This is assuming you upscaled the terran dominion to the size of the imperium.
As for the zerg... they're similar to nids but also VERY different. They don't have a synapse to disrupt and the zerg are smart enough to employ actual strategy. Additionally, unit for unit, the zerg are probably just a bit tougher. On the flipside they're not as virulent as the nids in that there are waaaaaaaaay more nids than there are zerg. However on equal ground I genuinely don't know who would win in a fight.
The protoss are like a mixture of Eldar and Tau. They're hard to compare strength wise. I mean, yes, the warhammer universe is stronger but the forcefield tech that the protoss have would certainly throw basically everyone for a loop with how good it is.
If you wanna give starcraft a try go for it. The campaigns are fun.

The Zerg are just frightening ( the swarm), the basically infect you with their DNA that is also composed of all other life forms they have infected keeping the best traits. • @theonebutcher677
    @theonebutcher677 3 роки тому +19

Eh, the thing about Starcraft marines is that their guns are OP as fuck. Those are Gauss assault rifles that can shoot through starship armor. They could kill an astartes standing still.
Now, an astartes won't stand still and is both faster and has a lot better aim and reaction time.
A Star Craft Marine needs an average of 80 shots to kill another star craft marine, that's almost five seconds of spraying and praying.
Also, while Terran Marines can pump an astartes full of holes, the astartes can just keep going while full of holes.
So, you'd need a squad of marines to deal with a single astartes and even then if they fight in anything but flat open ground the astartes will run circles around them and pick them off.
Where the astartes would lose is an armwrestling contest. Those armors are NOT a joke. They can lift tons. They are powered by TWO fusion reactors in the shoulders.
Now, a veteran Marine mercenary, one who can use the equipment to it's fullest potential, who can, unlike the marines you get in game, hit a moving target, is an average astartes' equal. On flat ground that is. Close quarters urban warfare with low visibility or god forbid, a forest, they would be toast.
On the other hand the Terran marine would win underwater. Yes, astartes can fight underwater too, but terran Marines are faster here, cause their armors can better compensate for the water resistance and the slower astartes are easier to hit.

    • @ErikaWeiss633

Yep, this is true. Wait until he finds hour that Zerg as a race are better than the Tyranids. Granted, they'll still lose to them due to scale (Because honestly, Hive Fleets and having trillions of organisms fight what amounts of several billion isn't quite fair.).

  • @SeeAndDreamify
    @SeeAndDreamify 3 роки тому +2

I would say that the Terran are like imperial guard but better funded per capita. So guardsmen in power armor is about right. They don't have the abundance of people that the imperium has.
The Zerg are like the Tyranids but more fleshed out since stories are actually told from their perspective.
Protoss don't really have a 40k equivalent. Their tech is Tau like and their powers are a bit Eldar like, but really they are their own thing.

The Star Craft Space Marines are more like putting a Penal Legionaire or Militia Volunteer into a Space Suit with armor plating.
The Armor of General Warfield was penetrated by Hydralisk spines all the time, so it is not particular tough. I would rank them below the Solar Auxilia in combat power.
People like Raynor, Warfield or Tychus Finlay - about Company Commanders in seniority - would be equal to maybe one rank-and-file Astartes.
Exceptional Ghosts like Kerrigan or Nova might be the equal to a rank-and-file Officiao Assasinorum field agent.
    # While reported Star Craft was created as a Warhammer 40k Game (with Marines, Eldar, Nyds as Facitons) but they failed to get a license, it is clearly it has evolved far from that idea.

Space marines are just convicts with nothing to lose in Astartes level power armor. There are tons of them with plenty to replace them. While not Astartes in power level, their pretty damn close-ish. Supported by essentially with the same artillery and armor support that the Imperium has. So simple overwhelming force would win through attrition.

I would suggest playing everything even just for the story. And if you don't want to spend money on Starcraft: Remastered (quite good job done there by Blizzard), there's mod for SC2 called "Starcraft: Mass Recall" which remakes all SC1 and SC:BW (including bonus campaigns released later) in SC2 engine. WoL campaign is currently free as part of F2P version AFAIR.
And once you finish campaigns there's CO-OP mode which allows some chill plays with heroes and campaign units. Though most of commanders are payable and with recent news about Blizzard it might be hard to give them money :/

6:45 Probably not, depending on the specs. These guys aren't transhuman like the Astartes, they're just guys in armor. Most of them are convicts resocialized/brainwashed into being extremely compliant and loyal, however, so they aren't cowards by any means. Their main purpose is to simply overwhelm their opponent by sheer numbers and volume of fire, and their life expectancy is measured in minutes, if not seconds. Unlike the Astartes, they can be produced very quickly and in large quantities, which is their main advantage. They do have automatic railguns with a _lot_ of ammo capacity, though.

It's generally accepted that more times then not the average Space Marine would lose to the Adeptus Astartes, but it's not a one side stomp for the Adeptus Astertes either. imo based on the data I've seen people present, Astartes win a conservative 65% of the time. In terms of armor, they're some what equal, in terms of weaponry, the marines have a more impressive standard weapon then the standard Astartes Pattern Bolter. But in terms of what's using those arms armor? The Astartes win out 100%. You're lucky to find a marine with military training, let alone that wasn't a convicted prisoner. Meanwhile the Astartes is literally better then the best of human potential with extra organs and decades of training minimum. It's like an out of shape hillbilly with a neat gun fighting a top of the class special forces soldier that's been on a dozen tours of duty in his full field kit. Of course the hillbilly will win sometimes, he's got a gun. But the special forces is going to mop up the hillbilly's exhumed bowels and blood most of the time.

I don't know enough about Warcraft40K to give a definitive answer, but I do think the Astartes has the edge over the Terran Marine. The Marine's combat armor is not necessarily that durable within the Starcraft universe, as the vast majority of weapons of its time can punch through it. And I would say that the Bolters are of larger caliber then most weapons used by the terran infantry. The Astartes also definitely ahve a biological advantage over the Terran marines. the Astartes, from my understanding are genetically crafted to be the perfect super soldier, while terran marines tend to be average citizens. There are cybernetic upgrades that improve thier abilities, as well as chemical stimulants as well that improve reaction time. But overall, Astartes are superior biologically. However, there is a chance taht the main infantry weapon of the terran marine, the C14 Impaler Gauss rifle, is capable of penetrating the Super Marine's armor. Their weapons fire 8mm 'spikes' utilizing Gauss technology, and more often then not those 'spikes' are depleted uranium, adding even more armor penetration power. The combat armor also is designed to give Terran marines the ability to track and shoot fast moving targets, including aircraft. So these weapons have enough power to penetrate armor plating on some vehicles and aircraft, as well as the organic armor plating of most Zerg.
So...I'd say that while the Super Marine likely has the edge over the Terran Marine in most categories, the Terran Marine could actually potentially injure or kill an Astartes, if he's able to get rounds off and hit something vital.
I could be wrong, like I said I don't know Warhammer40K enough to know exactly how strong SuperMarine armor is, but unless told otherwise, I think the Terran Marine might have a chance.

Man Gamesworkshop really lost out when they they decided to take away the license for Warhammer 40K when blizzard was working on the first StarCraft game. So they just took the three races they already had made, space marines, tyranid, and Eldar an made them into the Terran, the Zerg, and the Protoss.

    Fun fact
Originally Starcraft was meant as Warhammer game, but blizzard didnt manage to buy the rights.
So they decided to make the game anyway and just create the original universe from scratch.
As for the question Astartes vs terran space marine...
Yeah 1v1 astartes would won easily. Albiet not instantly.
    However, Astartes vs Ghost/Spectre...
    Rip Astartes.
Psionic Lash their spine out of their mouth
(Both ghosts and spectres are still regular humans btw in biological sense)
The Zerg is meant to be tyranid counterpart, yes. And they are very close in broad strokes but there are very key differences. For startes Zerg does have actual leaders which can reason perform diplomacy. (Not just Kerrigan, who is infected human ghost)
And then there are Protoss, which could be considered Tau conterparts, except their leadership is actually closer to the imperium of men...
    Its a little bit complicated.
But zerg keeps evolving and adapting.
Protoss just keeps their high tech as it is (until leagacy of the void at least) with very heavy religious dedication to their homeworld.

The Terrans as far as I can tell would get rekt in Warhammer, the Protoss would get rekt I mean they're almost extinct already in starcraft, but the Zerg would be ridiculous since they can evolve instantly across the whole swarm no matter where they are upon consuming biomass. The rate of their evolution would be absolutely bonkers when given access to the biomass of warhammer.

I think a Starcraft space marine, according to the SC lore would go toe to toe with an astates, they have guass weaponry, which does explode similar to bolters, and they have very similar armor to the astates, among other things, I would not be surprised if the astates came out in top, but his feathers would have been ruffled for sure.

there is no consistency in starcraft. you have normal units which are meat shields and hero units which are absolute bullet sponges. also the marine you see in the HotS trailer is raynor and he didn't launch the nuke. the blonde lady did.
for the second trailer you mentioned starscream. there is actually a song in the game called "terran up the night" that directly compares starscream to the transforming jet saying
    "We've got our own transformer,
    The rough and tough Viking.
He can fly, and doesn't cry like that little girl Starscream"
safe to say there was some inspiration there
as for new starcraft games, blizzard basically stated that SC2 is it and its going to be it for a long while

"it's like putting a guardsman in a power armor, essentially"
erm..well, yes, exactly, that is a correct assessment of what is going on here: unlike the Imperium the Terrans are actually _good_ at logistics and as such can send out their rank and file soldiers in gear that is capable of making them effective on the battlefield instead of ritualistically handing them a completely useless weapon as part of putting them onto the battlefield in the hopes that you have more soldiers than your enemies have bullets.
now, after that exactly correct assessment of what is going on why does he go on to compare a Marine to an Adeptus Astartes instead of to a guardsman?
as for the heart of the swarm trailer...I think I'll just say this to put the scale of things into perspective: you see those ultralisks running around? the big chonky boyz with blades for arms? yeahhhh...each of those things is roughly the size of Godzilla.

7:45 The thing is that Finley and Raynor have custom armors and heroic toughness, that take a lot more beating than a normal Marine. They would be better compared to special characters like chapter masters, or even primarchs, especially their HotS versions.
10:00 Between the Zerg and the Tyranids, the Zerg are the superior Starship Troopers The Bug knockoff.
If I had to decided which franchise knocked off Starship Troopers' Mobile Infantry better, it's tougher. Terran Marines are a great evolution of book and RPG mobile infantry, while 4oK Imperial Guard are a great evolution of movie mobile infantry. Space Marines are everything I hate about book mobile infantry subjected to 30 years of unchecked narrative power creep.
11:10 I never noticed before that she's standing on the stature of Mengsk that toppled in the previous scene. Kerrigan can be so petty when it comes to her revenge on the man who betrayed her.
