I really appreciate your thorough, detailed explanation of your process. Thank you for your time.
Absolutely Thea! Thanks for saying that. It's a joy to make these when i'm able to. -mj
You are very clear and concise in your teaching methods. I like that a lot because I’m new to making pottery. Thank you very much!
you are very welcome! Thanks for your encouragement! -mj
I really enjoyed that tutorial! Just found you. I have a bag of porcelain that has been waiting for me to get brave. This sounds like a great start. Thank you so much! 🙏
this is just great! thank you for sharing your ideas and tips and tricks with us!
You are awesome!! Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I’m making Texas shaped ornaments and I just ordered your clay slab slicer tool!
Love these! Great video!
Wow. Awesome tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for such a great video!!!

You are so welcome!
Very inspiring, thank you for all the tips
you bet! Thanks for stopping by! -mj
In stead of stacking them in the kiln you can put them on their side, so vertically. Just like plates are fired on their rim. That way each ornament only has the weight of its own, not extra from other ornaments on top of it. That is they way i always bisque fire flat things.
You’re quite awesome MJ. Thanks for the videos. They’re so informative. I live in The Netherlands at the moment and have been making small ornaments here. Your video showed me a lot of ways I can make them better.
Hi Fired Up Ceramica! I'm so glad they have been helpful to you. I really enjoy making them and sharing what i've learned. Good luck!
I have the same star slab roller, I love it
I learned so much! Thank your from Tasmania Australia 😊
you bet! I have a good friend here in Texas from Tasmania. So great to hear from you!
Thank you for all your information. Awesome that you want to help others in starting their business in pottery..
You're very welcome! I like to learn and I'm happy to share it! Thanks for your encouragement! -mj
Thank you so much for this video (and all the others!). You are great at explaining and generous in your sharing :). I am a newbie potter and I am thinking of selling my plates on Amazon. You mention that you had some tips on this and I would be really grateful to hear them (newbie at selling too!). Thank you! Allison
Hey Allison. Thanks for asking this. Amazon is a beast. I love it and hate it. My friend Anugrah and I are going to do a few videos that may become a series on selling on amazon. It's not my favorite but it is 50% of all online sales so... what can you do :). Be looking out for a few videos from us on this subject. -mj
Beautiful
Hey thanks Manin Ks!
Awesome looks great keep it up
Thanks so much Phil! I appreciate that. -mj
Can you do more than one slab at a time with a slab roller? If you space a couple of them apart seems like you could cut even more time by doing a couple at once
❤❤❤
Georgies in Portland carries some really pretty cone 5-7 porcelains. They're one of my favorite stores now.
Nice! I'll keep that in mind for the folks in that area! Thanks -mj
Thanks for showing us your pottery tips! We are 11 year practicing Oregon potters and learned some fantastic tips! My hubby is curious about the little squares that are on the top of your shelves. What are they? Thanks!
Did you say you have a video about selling on amazon? Would love to see one.
I don't yet. I'll put it on the docket. I certainly have a love hate relationship with that platform. I would have a LOT to say in that video :). Thanks for this input Katy -mj
Where can I purchase stamps like your hope and peace stamps please. I also would like to learn how to sell my crafts on Amazon. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I live in Oregon.
Thank you so much for this. I will use your link to get a couple of things I need for ornaments next year. I noticed you referenced Laguna Bmix 5. Is that porcelain clay? Thank you!- PJ
Hey PJ. I think for practical purposes it IS a porcelain. I've heard it described as a synthetic porcelain. it doesn't have any grog in it - those tiny particles of already fired clay that helps your wheel work get more vertical height/strength. Those can show up and mar the surface when you're doing work like these ornaments. Hey I'm glad this is helpful to you! Ask me anything else you need. -mj
Awesome video! 👏 Thanks! How long are you leaving the clay in the molds before you pop them down out?
I don't use molds for these ornaments but other mold products I let the slip set for maybe 15 minutes and I keep topping it off in that time. then i pour it out and wait for another 30 mins or so. it will usually separate out from the sides of the plaster mold so you can pull it right out. if you need it to dry faster try setting it in the sun or in front of a fan. hope that helps! -mj
What size is you circle cutter? Also your showed us a paddle develope, is that what you mail them in, if so don't they get broken in the mail?
What do you sell these ornaments for?
Thank you for your videos. I ran across your ad on UA-cam, checked out your channel and subscribed.
What types of videos do you plan on coming out with in the future?
Honestly Tony it's just whatever i'm into at the moment. i want to do a lot more slip casting videos as i love slip casting. i'd like to do a class as well. I'm also into 3d printing / CNC machining and growing food hydroponically and have channels for those things as well. I should be more planned and thoughtful about where I'm going with this i guess. What would you like to see more of? -mj
@@OutpostPottery all of that sounds great! I like the stuff you are doing with combining 3D printing and pottery. What do you slip cast?
do you sell your 3D printed items?
Hi,where did you purchase your hope and peace stamps,I check many places and not having any luck.Canada
He custom 3-D printed those stamps, so not available in stores. He might sell them to you...using your design, of course 😉
Hey Carolyn. sorry for the late response. Yes we print all our stamps here. We have a lot of 3d printers. Are you interested in those stamps? -mj
