    Thank you so much for this video (and all the others!). You are great at explaining and generous in your sharing :). I am a newbie potter and I am thinking of selling my plates on Amazon. You mention that you had some tips on this and I would be really grateful to hear them (newbie at selling too!). Thank you! Allison

      Hey Allison. Thanks for asking this. Amazon is a beast. I love it and hate it. My friend Anugrah and I are going to do a few videos that may become a series on selling on amazon. It's not my favorite but it is 50% of all online sales so... what can you do :). Be looking out for a few videos from us on this subject. -mj

    In stead of stacking them in the kiln you can put them on their side, so vertically. Just like plates are fired on their rim. That way each ornament only has the weight of its own, not extra from other ornaments on top of it. That is they way i always bisque fire flat things.

    Can you do more than one slab at a time with a slab roller? If you space a couple of them apart seems like you could cut even more time by doing a couple at once

    • @OutpostPottery
      @OutpostPottery  Рік тому +1

      Hey PJ. I think for practical purposes it IS a porcelain. I've heard it described as a synthetic porcelain. it doesn't have any grog in it - those tiny particles of already fired clay that helps your wheel work get more vertical height/strength. Those can show up and mar the surface when you're doing work like these ornaments. Hey I'm glad this is helpful to you! Ask me anything else you need. -mj

      Honestly Tony it's just whatever i'm into at the moment. i want to do a lot more slip casting videos as i love slip casting. i'd like to do a class as well. I'm also into 3d printing / CNC machining and growing food hydroponically and have channels for those things as well. I should be more planned and thoughtful about where I'm going with this i guess. What would you like to see more of? -mj

    Where can I buy the stamps for the ornaments, and what is your top temp for firing these in the kiln please, I am 89 and we never stop learning do we! Cornwall UK

    • @OutpostPottery
      @OutpostPottery  29 днів тому

      Wow Rose!!! Which stamps are you interested in? Regarding temp - i usually fire these to cone cone 06. They would be stronger if i fired them to cone 5 but it can darken the color a bit and I wnat them bright white. no glaze on these when i fire them

    Awesome video! 👏 Thanks! How long are you leaving the clay in the molds before you pop them down out?

    • @OutpostPottery
      @OutpostPottery  2 роки тому

      I don't use molds for these ornaments but other mold products I let the slip set for maybe 15 minutes and I keep topping it off in that time. then i pour it out and wait for another 30 mins or so. it will usually separate out from the sides of the plaster mold so you can pull it right out. if you need it to dry faster try setting it in the sun or in front of a fan. hope that helps! -mj
