One of my friends, a girl, in college in the 80’s was from a family of some means. She was also a “horse girl”. Her holy grail was an Hermes saddle. She was my introduction to Hermes leather goods, ties, and fragrances. One of my early buys, in the 80’s, was Bel Ami, a leathery beast. Good memories.
Shiso leaf smells like mint and basil combined. Awesome to cook with. The Parfum sorta has a green note that maybe comes from that shiso? I love the Parfum most in this line because it has less iso e but really this entire line is pretty good.
Depending on the type of shiso, it can have facets of lemon, anise, mint, basil, and pepper. We grew 3 varieties this year and they’re all great. Very complex herb that should probably be utilized more in perfume.
Great history and information. I like the newer refillable bottles for cost savings and waste reduction. H24 seems underrated, to me, but that’s understandable considering how outstanding the Terre line is
I don’t know if you have tried - but you have to try Bvlgari Terrae Essence. An upgrade in every way to TdH imo. And I say this as someone who wore TdH for years. Brighter citrus than the Hermes, contrasted by darker, wetter earth.
Enjoy many in this line, especially Eau Tres Fraiche. I wonder if the lilial ban was also responsible for the loss of Equipage Geranium and Apres La Mousson. I agree with you about Eau Intense Vetiver. It reminds me more of Sycomore than any Terre. I get a salami facet from the variety of vetiver used in these two that I don’t from say, Guerlain’s vetiver. Inarguably well done though 💪
The refillable direction has the unfortunate consequence of making it difficult to determine when purchasing on the grey market whether the juice inside is authentic or not. Unless it comes within a sealed box.
As you can prob imagine, at this point i dont care about compliments anymore (not that im showering in unutamam every day either) but ill be damned, every single time ive ever worn TdH, i get multiple unsolicited compliments. Alot of them dont even know who its coming from its like "wow! Who smells good!" But nothing has made that happen for me like TdH.
I like the original but sometimes it rubs me the wrong way after an hour or so I’ve bought and sold it twice. So there’s something I like but just never got me fully there. I do own Eau intense vetiver but don’t pull for it too often but it does work better on my skin into the dry down. I suppose I’ll have to re visit the original and try again. I’ve changed my mind on many fragrances. As for Eau givree I’ve never come in contact with it. Perhaps in my next visit to Saks I’ll give it a try. I do own Sospiro Basso which is a very inspired fragrance of TDH but it’s not as flinty and it works great for me. Luckily I got a good deal on it because it’s overly expensive. I still don’t know why people buy at full retail just to flex the luxury tax. There are so many ways to get legit frags at discount

That's a neat story. Thanks for sharing!

Good video 👏. I haven't smelled the Eau Givree and Tres Fraiche yet
You should!

H24 is a bit underrated, but really only by the community
“Jay Cutler Vetiver” 😂
You’re so right. Eau intense vetiver is the fragrance that made me aware of woody ambers.
A lot of us
Cheers D, very informative and a wonderful scent profile on the whole . 🤛👊💪
Agreed!
Encre Noire is another popular vetiver that is still produced
I like that one as well.

@@CoolJacker I’ll check it out
If I can find it
The original is classic. Hermes is pretty impressive in staying nicely focused to me.
Agreed

Salami? Oh boy.
@@Varanis_Ridari I know! Weird 😅
Eau de Salami

Nobody has ever complimented my Terre

The luxury tax.
I think I liked red vetiver more than tdh, I found them pretty similar.
I remember finding it just okay, but I need to retry it.
"Scum of the earth" 😂
I highly recommend Rasasi Fattan. It's a clone of TDH parfum. Cheap too
Rasasi has a lot of hidden gems I need.
@Varanis_Ridari
Try Fattan I'm sure you'll love it
Will do. If you're on Basenotes, hmu with a DM listing your favorite Rasasi fragrances, including clones, originals (not clones), or any ouds.
Alhambra's Toro isn't bad either.
I'll try it if I can
perseus is probably the most "fun" smelling frag i have, which really gives me eau tres fraiche FOMO
Perseus is good but very expensive
