Hey thanks for responding to my question! I appreciate the input, and the videos you make. Very inspiring, and a maximum fps build would be an awesome show gun to exercise tech skills! Thanks again!
in theory if you have a perfect system (perfect pressure seal, no friction...) you would be able to get the same joule output from the gun as the energy stored in the spring when it is fully compressed if you are using a perfectly fitting barrel that has the same volume of air as your cylinder. but since we don't live in a perfect world we can calculate how efficient your system is by measuring joule output and the joules of the spring and then use that to get an idea how much output you could get from the gun with a certain spring. The single factor that we have left is the strength of the components. take that away and in theory an aeg can have a theoretical infinite amount of joule output. so yeah its all dependant on efficiency and structural resistance
Good ratio is around 1,5 to 2,5 of cylinder to barrel volume. Heavier BBs tend to need lower ratio to shoot accurately. It is about accuracy at the end. One to one ratio is just not enough to stabilize BB properly.
Oh MY GOD THANK YOU BRO!!!!!! Right people think that by painting it some cool colors, it INCREASES the worth of their gun and i TOTALLY agree with you on there bud!!!
We had one guy who used to play who was our local tech wizard. He had a 4.5inch bolt gun, idk if it was an aps2 or vsr10, that could ring a frying pan at 250 feet every time. I cant say much as to what was done to it as I didn't build it, but I do know it shot above 2 joules.
currently rocking a 1240mm zirconium diamond inner barrel 5.96 diameter with a 96k RPM all platinum gearbox and a spring I custom fit that I got off of a 18 wheeler. I get around 45000 fps with .32 gram BBs give or take. Decent accuracy at 250 meters.
So the inner barrel should match the Joule output and the weight of the BB...great, but that doesn't help at all. What length matches up with wich joule output/weight of BB...weight of piston,...
I made a full auto AEG that shoots 0.48gm bb's at 3.3 joules. So, it is rocking. There is a lot of fiddling that was needed and it needed 32:1 gears SR25 (home made) but it is very accurate and long range. Rate of fire is not fast. Probably about 14RPS. But still, I do not know of anyone else who has done this. NOTE: It is easier to get high energy rates with lighter bb's but they will not travel as far as the heavier bb. So, my goal was to make it have a heavy weight bb at a high energy rate. The gun has lasted for about 3 years and I have had to replace the gears once and a new piston once. The spring is also a home made spring. So, more powerful than anything on the market.
mine is still reverse creeping on a 407mm inner barrel with a .4 vs a .3 and yes the gearbox is perfectly sealed off as in you can't push the piston forward with the nozzle forward with your thumb over it. im shooting for 1.88j
Hey all, I own a Paintball barrel brand and am currently representing a new HPA rifle company. My pb brand is in charge of the design and production of a new high-end inner barrel for the gun and the minimum order needed for barrels far exceeds what we need for the first couple of runs. Other than 150mm, what barrel lengths do you use and on what gun? I have to cut thousands of extra units to sell and want to see which lengths are most commonly used. Thanks.
I did just that with HPA..6.03mm SS precision 650mm inner and few more mods got me 5J appx 850FPS.. only in testing the build.. i stepped it down to 600FPS area..
I always imagine the bb being in a spin after it hits the hopup, but wonder if engineers thought about the effect hitting the smooth 6.03 mm bore. For sniper I'm going to test with elevation adjustable picatiny rail for my scope, basicaly to get more distance. You canbuy that type of rail from gel blaster webshops for 25 buks.
Could you try building the strongest AEG possible? Using a weighted Piston (diy machined Bore-up stainless piston head + 3/8" spacers) and MS210 spring, my 330mm tightbore P90 puts out >4.5J (~500 fps with .40g, I don't have heavier bbs to test). Properly radiused V6 shell holds up fine as well 5K rounds in. I believe you could get an M4 platform (with STS) to get over that, but a Max power SR25/L85 would be really satisfying to see, especially a ported extended cylinder coupled with a short tightbore barrel for optimal piston acceleration/pressure spike. would be awesome to see an AEG's potential 👍
the default awnswe is tehe same as your outer but thats only for a regular gun. maybe you intend to go no higher than a .3. otherwise, you want shorter
the default is the same legth as yoiur outer barrel however thats for a regular gun where you don't intend to go higher than a .3. in the case of a dmr, you want to hop at least a .36. ideally a .4. in the case of a sr25 or svd/svu you want to hop a .4-.45 since you have the extra volume. hoerver doesnt matter if its a m14 gw3, scar 20, or even a sr25 or svd/svu the barrel is far too long. of course if you are using hpa dont worry about your barrel length. also if I'm getting a svd that's a 100%hpa with a p* f2. its a horrible design. ou also need a full cylinder. that's not negotiable.
I have a DSG 14:1 SP150 SHS piston that has no AOE and no glue on the piston rack. I'm well over 20K cycles. There is no glue on the planet that will bond to both metal and nylon. If someone tells you otherwise, they don't understand how glue works on a molecular level. When gluing nylon to metal, they use a plastic bond glue that sticks to nylon, and then a metal bonding glue will actually stick to the plastic glue. There is no room in the piston to use two glues. I have built many many AEGs never put a drop of glue on a piston rack. Never had a piston rack come out. What stock gun has a rack glued? none of them. Not needed because it is pointless.
I definitely disagree with your stance on painting guns. Every time I've taken a gun apart and gotten super ocd with my paint job, it ends up weak and doesn't look as good. Taping off what you don't want to paint, wipe down with alcohol, then go straight to your colors. Every time I've done this method, it comes out better, and I have painted all of my guns. Love the videos though, it would be cool to see you do the high FPS build.
Could you not incorporate a design for the most powerful airsoft gun to push passed the 450 mm barrel length limit? To say a 600nor 700 mm barrel. The barrel length reducing the ridiculous f fps but taking advantage of the benefits of a longer barrel (longer range, good cluster).
