      Can't blame him but he should've stayed. I don't know what motivates players in today's games, but I'm not trying to be moving around all the time, switching addresses and such. I'll take some less money to be with a competitor and stay where I'm at. Plus Severino was a fan favorite. No one will care about him in Sacramento...

      Would’ve been so cool to run it back with the same rotation as last year, but you can’t fault the Mets for not wanting to sign Sevy to the deal the A’s gave him. And he deserves every penny of it.

    • @dashx1103
      @dashx1103 20 днів тому +1

      I said from the outset that I wanted Manaea, but was very wary of bringing Sevy back. Sevy logged so many more innings last season than he had in the previous four seasons. That is a lot of stress on an arm. How many times have we seen a guy get overextended and then have arm problems the next year. Manaea had been acclimated to much higher pitch levels over the same period, so I think he's a much safer bet to hit the ground running without the arm stress. I like Sevy a lot, and I appreciate what he did for the Mets, but I would not have given him a big contract to come back. Very happy with Manaea.

    I'm shocked Manaea didn't get at leat 4 years. Excellent signing. I don't want Bregman. His big years came when the Astros were cheating. I would rather take that money and further solidify the bullpen. Resigning Pete is another no brainer. The guy is averaging 43 hrs and 110 rbi's a season. Not to mention, he's going to see a lot more strikes with Juan Soto in the lineup. LGM!!!

      Pete averages 43 HR's a year? Uh, you're including Pete's better years. It doesnt work like that. His numbers are consistently dropping off. His AB's looked terrible last year. There's a reason no one wanted Pete.

    • @benjacobs2560
      @benjacobs2560 20 днів тому

      @@brutusmax yes I'm including every full season he's played in. That's what his average year is. He had a down year last year no question. Most players have good and bad years. He's got more 40 hr and 100 rbi seasons in the tank. If you look at his stats compared to Matt Olson, they're almost identical. Olson got 8 yrs and 168 million. I wouldn't want to sign Pete for 8 yrs but I would definitely go 6 yrs at a slightly higher AOV adjusted to inflation and NY taxes. Over 162 game season, Juan Soto averages 35 hrs and 102 rbis. Pete averages 43 hrs and 112 rbi. I'm not saying he's the same hitter as Soto but he definitely deserves a big time contract.

    Although I respect your opinion, I could not disagree more that the Mets are “good” with their rotation. Love the menaea signing but This rotation reeks of mediocrity. We need one more proven arm. We have way too many projects, we don’t know if Senga can bounce back healthy, and relying on the likes of Peterson and megill (every time I hear his name I cringe) to preform is seriously risky. A one year deal for someone like Walker Buhler or a trade for Castillo would be the best option for us. If the rotation is done.. then we better score 5+ runs a game because I do not see this rotation being as “good” as you may think it is. Sakski would be great add but he’s not guaranteed. A singing of Alonso and bregman would put me at ease. But as it stands, this rotation is very mediocre

      @@LockedOnMets And also Stearns clearly has a philosophy on starting pitching. He just doesn't want to give out long contracts. I think he knows what he's doing. Happy he got Manaea back on a 3-year deal, I'm a little surprised Sean didn't get a fourth year from somebody.

      @@robertbogert8257 That is totally made up. Two years ago he pitched to a 3.90 ERA. That is not "trash." Also, who cares how he pitched two years ago? How he pitched recently is far more relevant, especially since he clearly made some changes in his delivery that were quite beneficial.
      I get it. You are clearly a Yankee troll and you get off on peeing in the punch bowl on other teams' fan sites. It is completely pathetic, but we see it plenty.

    We need to trade for Trout. He will protect Soto in the lineup. I know he has been injury prone but bring him back closer to home, and he doesn’t have to be the face of the franchise. He can be a DH and part time OF and he has 5 years left on his contract. Then sign Pete Alonso and put Vientos at 3rd. Then sign or trade for a couple more starters and 3 more bull pen arms. Our offense would be loaded. Don’t sign Bregman… I think Trout will bring great leadership and is better than 95% of the players in this league still.

    Terrible signing. Give a 32 year old pitcher a three year deal,and got lit up in game 6. But we won't give Pete a 5 year deal.
