    I expressed this recently...but Pete had to be in arrogant mode after advised by some people who really thought Boras could get him a huge contract..if Pete had a professional advisor and discussed the issue with the closest people to him, meaning his family...wife, parents etc..he would have probably humbled himself and face reality....I am truly sorry for Pete because I really love him as a met..I hope that they will come to a middle of the road solution and Pete finds himself on the Mets..His whole mindset would change for the better...come on, let's get this thing settled...just my little take on the Pete Alonso situation

      Why does everyone hate Pete? He's an awesome dude. Sure he had a down year compared to his previous years, but anyone would test the market in the last year of their contract. Anyone who wouldn't is an idiot because let's be honest they're all in it for the money. Pete is not Soto or a Judge but he's still a slugger, and he it's not a terrible first baseman either.

    • @wilwhite8557
      @wilwhite8557 4 години тому

      not that we hate him his actions speak louder than words!!
      Understand some people just have the ability to separate business from feelings and as much as we love Pete the business side says it may be time to move on from Pete. Anything over 3 years is going to be a bad contract for Pete, so I side with Stearns on being hesitant to give him more than a guaranteed 3-year deal!!
      Keep in mind Pete is the one who turned down the extension.

      @@Standdividedfalltogether The market for a 30 year old power hitting 1B is very thin. Stearns knows his price and is gonna stick to it. Alonso is the most valuable to the Mets compared to the other 29 MLB teams. The Mets are his best shot and this staring contest will continue until he realizes that no one is rushing to sign him given his overall value as a player.

      @ where’s 40-50 and 100-120 coming from. The guy we paid 800 mill to doesn’t do that either. And I’ll go as far as Pete defense is better than Soto. But he doesn’t walk as much right? Lmao. Can’t make everyone happy. Good luck filling 40 - 50 And 100 every year.

    • @Standdividedfalltogether

      @ just spent 800 mill on a stranger to the team. But the guy that carried us through the playoffs and been here since a rookie we can’t give 175 to? IMO it’s a terrrible example for our farm system. You can be the best offensive player the team ever produced and not get paid. And be embarrassed in public too. Good idea. I’m sure it’ll go over well with everyone in the minors.

      @jwvvvv yea, and I dont get why everyone is acting like Pete is 33 or 34, he just turned 30. He plays everyday, doesnt get hurt and if you look at it so called "one dimensional sluggers" (Thome, David Ortiz, Pujols, Nelson Cruz, among others) actually age pretty well and slug well into their late 30s and even early 40s - probably in part because they're one dimensional and therefore don't expend as much energy (or get hurt) as much as the more athletic or defensive players tend to. This idea Pete won't age well is completely overstated, and the guy just turned 30 which is still young...I dont get it

    Bottom line is that Goldy and Walker have reset the 1B market and Pete is realistically looking at something like 2/40 or 3/51 as a best offer or a 1/17 deal! Which means his career is year by year and the multi year contract will likely go away. He gambled and lost

    I think everyone is over exaggerating his age. If he signed a 5 year deal he would be 34 years old going into his fifth year of his contract. Walker is going to be 34 going into this year. Alonso is a better hitter than walker and will be when he’s 34 as well.

    • @jwvvvv
      @jwvvvv 6 годин тому

      He didn't do that last season. He waited too long and his clients ended up with bad short-term deals. Looks like he is going to do the same thing with Pete.

    • @GeraldM_inNC
      @GeraldM_inNC 3 години тому

      @jwvvvv Totally different story. Alonso has a consistent track record as a dominant home home run hitter. Montgomery in contrast had never had a season as a dominant pitcher prior to 2024, and some say he was only dominant in the second half. Snell was mediocre to poor between his two Cy Young seasons but expected GMs to forget that fact. Chapman was coming off a poor offensive season. Thus, none of them could sell a resume with a consistent history of success. In contrast, although Alonso's contact rate has plummeted in recent seasons, he has remains one of MLB's top home run hitters.

  • @FrankMajor-u4c
    @FrankMajor-u4c 17 годин тому

    Redskins are diminishing because he's got up their upper cutting the ball instead of like when he was a rookie just trying to get base hit so make contact that's right just right now I'm trying to uppercut the ball for home runs

  • @eyesontheinsides

    You guys are out of your minds if you think the 7/158 is still on the table from the mets. If that was still on the table he'd have signed by now. They're trying to get him for as short a term as possible, period and no one else is close to 7/158 in this market. Itd be malpractice to give him that length again after reading the market.
    Also weird aggressive/negative tone towards Pete here. First time i found you guys, gotta say it turned me off a bit. Not that i need glazing, but a little bit shrill and immature for my taste. Good luck to yall

  • @FrankMajor-u4c

    I meant to say why his skills of diminishing because he been uppercutting the ball trying to hit home runs if you go back to his rookie year just trying to make basics the homeowners are coming to town but until he stopped doing that and uppercutting the ball he's going to be a strikeout King another Dave Kingman

I think this past year Pete wanted to have a great year to get the big money, and put to much pressure on himself, and in clutch situations he didn't come thru...His limitations aside he's still provides punch to the lineup. So i would like the Mets to sign him...Have a nice Christmas Carson...
