- Running trains at a family's friend's house is always a blast! This garden layout was build by Gene who gets his 3 second feature in the middle of this video. I am withholding last names on private layouts. We had a "few" trains running to make this video. I'm sorry about the speed of parts of the video but I wanted to include as much footage as possible. Let me know what you think of my editing. This is still a learning process for me and I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you think in the comment section and don't forget to subscribe if you like trains because I have much more to show!
I wish I had video of my fiend in long grove Illinois it was though out there whole property it was amazing worked on it for 4/5 years 12 different lines ! With trains on all of them ! It was amazing

Hi there from England. Terrific layout and enjoyed the video, thanks. You asked for feedback re your editing. Well personally I wouldn't bother with the speeded bits, they're just a distraction. You could just leave 'em out if running time is an issue or run them at normal speed. Maybe some lower angle trackside shots. But an interesting enjoyable watch. Wish we had gardens that size over here. All the best for '23. Cheers.

@@proxtrains I was speaking on just the parts that weren’t at normal speed but sure lol
I tried to speed up the sections that didn’t have much action. But I am taking notes. If I didn’t include so many camera views, I could’ve had a slower video that still showed everything. This video is staying as is but in the future I’m going to try to improve quality.

This looks to be a bashed/customized LGB mallet, the sound system sounds like an older phoenix sound system.

Very lovely layout of tracks and of locomotives and I might have a suggestion for a smoother ride maybe some small pieces of wood under the tracks
Lol he is way past that! There is plenty of real ballast involved here, I hate to think of the labor involved building this.
Track work is actually great for outdoors, trains are long and seem to run flawlessly.
Wow this is so cool. Do you plan on adding little towns or any types of settings around the tracks?
I plan to go over to his house again to re-record sometime with all the buildings out! Gene, Gabis Arboretum and my family members are all people Ik that like to take their buildings in for the winter. I would like to do a Gene 2.0 sometime in the future with new trains running but I will need to record a new video sometime next summer.

Most of the layouts I show are built by people who have been collecting most/ large portions of their life and you are seeing many years of work and collecting. Many would call it “investing” into model trains.
How expensive do you think it is?

Typically most model railroaders Ik will measure in feet. I don’t have an answer for you but I will try to include measurements in my next videos.
Shame about the lack of steam though.

Why do you Americans have no fences, i would be scared about somebody just walking in stealing my goods or even dismantling some tracks
Cameras and other security systems are common. Plus I’d be scared to do that because we have the right to bare arms and it’d be trespassing. That can be a bad combination for someone trying to steal.
That's why we have the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution which allows us to bear arms.
Was this layout track powered or battery? That would take quite a bit of work to power the tracks for that layout.
Battery; makes it easy but limits run time.
