Yeah I picked up the Nimrod reference from Bugs Bunny as well. He laughed at Elmer Fudd and said, "what a Nimrod", because he was pretending to be a mighty hunter. As a kid I always thought it was just one of those dopey names people gave to nerdy types.

Shabazz what you have said is absolutely true. But what is in the Bible is people groups. Those people groups in the Bible describe they origin. Very important! That’s why you can trace the ethnicity by the bloodline descendants, & so much emphasis on who begot who. It was important to God to metaphorically describe everyone. People who change the context of the word did it purposely. Those people did not like how God describe them and they character, but everyone is exposed in the Word of God. It’s a reason why the Roman Catholic Church stole & his all original antiquities and placed them underground in the Vatican. The enemies of Hod went to great links to hide the truth. But Gods word taken apart reveals the actual truth anyway.

Historically, the Greeks and Romans attempted for world conquest and nearly conquered the world. They were inspired by Nimrod and they ended up worshiping him.

Just getting into the book of Enoch and going off some of it's stories. Nimrod sounds like he was 2nd or 3rd or 4th generation of Nephilam which would have been Giants. Morals are subjective not objective. That’s why the bible justified for murdering of people (when your god is all knowing and all powerful). It’s like your god isn’t all powerful or all knowing. And how can free will exist when your bible explains your god creator of all things. To me if your god does exist it’s spineless and only cares about being worshiped and not the happiness for its creation. It’s like it enjoys watching us fail, like some narcissistic maniac. Your god if it exist, will have a lot of explaining to do for its atrocity’s against humanity.

You speak with an absolute certainty that you're opinion is right and those who believe in Jesus is wrong. I wonder where your sense of morality comes from. How do you know the difference between good and evil? Believe it or not, God is alive and He's good. But a man does evil out of the evil that is stored up in his heart. God won't change it because He made us gods of the earth. We traded it and man would have been damned forever if not for Jesus.
As joyful as I am to say that He is knocking at the door of your heart, and if you're so much as willing to know the truth and you ask genuinely, He will answer. Unfortunately, there is a consequence for turning from God because He created you, He wrote the manual for you and He knows that outside of Himself, man will shut down and be thrown for scraps eventually.

Who would have thought that Abraham, with Nimrod, was sowing the seeds of the Cosmological Argument?
    “‘And Haran died in the presence of his father Terah’ (Gen. 11:28). Rabbi Hiyya the grandson of Rabbi Adda of Yaffo [said]: Terah was a worshipper of idols. One time he had to travel to a place, and he left Abraham in charge of his store. When a man would come in to buy [idols], Abraham would ask: How old are you? They would reply: fifty or sixty. Abraham would then respond: Woe to him who is sixty years old and worships something made today - the customer would be embarrassed, and would leave. A woman entered carrying a dish full of flour. She said to him: this is for you, offer it before them. Abraham took a club in his hands and broke all of the idols, and placed the club in the hands of the biggest idol. When his father returned, he asked: who did all of this? Abraham replied: I can't hide it from you - a woman came carrying a dish of flour and told me to offer it before them. I did, and one of them said 'I will eat it first,' and another said 'I will eat it first.' The biggest one rose, took a club, and smashed the rest of them. Terah said: what, do you think you can trick me? They don't have cognition! Abraham said: Do your ears hear what your mouth is saying? Terah took Abraham and passed him off to [King] Nimrod (לְנִמְרוֹד). They said [to the king]: let us worship the fire (לְנוּרָא). Abraham said to them: [rather] let us worship water, for it extinguishes fire. Nimrod agreed: let us worship water. Abraham continued: if so, let us worship the clouds, which provide water. Nimrod agreed: let us worship the clouds. Abraham continued: if so, let us worship the winds that scatter the clouds. Nimrod agreed: let us worship the winds. Abraham continued: if so, let us worship humans who are filled with wind [air]. Nimrod replied: You're just speaking words - I only worship fire. I will throw you into it, and the God you worship can save you from it. Haran was hidden and was of two minds, saying [to himself]: if Abraham is victorious, I will say I am with Abraham, and if Nimrod is victorious, I will say I am with Nimrod. When Abraham was through into the fiery furnace and saved, they asked him [Haran]: who are you with? He replied: I am with Abraham. They took him and threw him into the fire, and his insides burned up and he died before his father Terah, as it says: ‘And Haran died in the [lit.] on the face of his father Terah’ (Gen. 11:28). Midrash (מִדְרָשׁ), Rabbah (רַבָּה = Great), Genesis (בְּרֵאשִׁית = bərehsheet = “In the begining”), 38:13.

Nimrod i remember mostly because a couple of cities he founded were pretty anti-God. Ninevah was one of those; Jonah was the reluctant bearer of God's ultimatum...and Ninevah turned back to God. Babylon, however, had no such redemption. And then there's the Tower of Babel...where they challenged God by being on the same "playing field" by building a tower to the Heavens. That plan didn't work out so well.
The bible calls Nimrod mighty...but not mighty IN THE LORD...just BEFORE THE LORD...so..oppositional, a rebel. Which is why, later on, Nimrod is used to call someone stupid or foolish...like a Nimcompoop. Bugs Bunny used both of these. 😀
Then there's sources outside the Bible...which gives us the precursor to idolizing Mary as a Mother of a god (not blessed among women, but was a sinner...was born and died as the Bible infers) and there's the correlation between Gilgamesh and Nimrod. Ive seen theories they are the same person...or as the son of Nimrod.
In all these, Nimrod is never portrayed as following God. He was a conqueror, builder, hunter, strong, and ruled for a time...but amounted to very little in the end.

My name is Nimrod... My mom was fond of biblical names not ever knowing what it ever meant or the story behind the character. Of course, I was tormented growing up because dumb kids called me "Nimrod" in a way that makes it synonymous to "idiot" but yes, that did come from Looney Toons when Daffy Duck called Elmer Fudd that sarcastically. Similar to the way we call someone "Einstein" when they do something dumb.

Even today, many human beings, if not all human beings, enjoy being "worshipped". From what they choose to wear the things they choose to buy the places they choose to work at, or the talents they may have, or the money they may have stored up, even as vain as their physical body that they " work on" to make it an acceptable idol for the worthiness of others worship... and a whole list of other things that people minute by minute come up with is usually with the intent to bring them glory and adoration and gather to themselves worshippers.
    Truly people are little gods.
They just walk around want to be worshiped all day long.
    BUT hear this.
Man was created to worship God.
Man was created to serve and worship His Creator, and what a sin of damnable depths when man wants to be worshiped himself and take all the glory to himself or herself, everywhere, all the time, day after day.
If you ever come across a humble servant who loves God and wants no glory to himself, and who can't stop talking about how great God alone is, you've found the real man.
    He's after God's own heart.
He is walking in the Holy Spirit of God.
But most men, and women, all they want is adoration and attention from others, acting like little god's, and I could just puke at the magnitude of this sin. It has its roots in the garden of Eden, and is the death of all, except if the cleansing power of Jesus Christ changes them.
For the flesh must die and the body must be re- born - of God- through the grace of God, and this is the greatest gift and experience of a lifetime!
Repent if you are one who is always looking to have people worship you, and tell God that today you are going to start worshipping Him forever. It's not about you, and it never was.
It's all about God and Jesus Christ. Amen.

1 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words.
2 And as they migrated from the east, they came upon a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.
3 And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and fire them thoroughly." And they had brick for stone and bitumen for mortar.
4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth."
5 The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which mortals had built.
6 And the LORD said, "Look, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.
7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language there, so that they will not understand one another’s speech."
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.
9 Therefore it was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth, and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
