I'm just gonna say it - I dont know how but I fuckin love this car. Yes its stiff, you seem to feel each and every bump on the road.Literally burning gas. But the feeling of quality and sheer power (especially in Sport mode) is sheeeeesh. Love since day one

Super, super helpful Mike, thanks! Trying to decide between a newer (more expensive) 2017 Cooper S Countryman ALL4 or a 2014 JCW.
Glad it helped. If the S is newer, lower mileage and better condition I'd go that route since you're not getting that much added performance with the JCW.
I just purchased a 2015 mini countryman S all wheel drive. The car is pristine there is no smell of any dampness or mold or mildew inside the car or the trunk not the rug or the seats but inside the window seal it smells moldy and mildewy. I did clean it and there was a lot of black stuff that came out of it. Have you ever heard of this?
JCW is not twin turbo, should be better flowing heads, more boost pressure, etc. It does however feel faster than the claimed .1second quicker...

I could get a 2011 with 103 000 km’s for $13 000.
The ALL4 is enticing me for winter fun.
Would be going from a 2013 base model Veloster with 270 000 km’s to the 2011 Cooper Countryman S.
Should I stay away from it? Reliability issues or no?
Great detailed review on the interior Mike, Appreciate the thorough talk on the interior quality. I was planning on getting one thinking it was going to be a nicer vehicle since it’s a sub Brand of bmw and now I’m changing my mind.
The 2nd gen's interior is significantly better, though I ultimately sold my 1st gen Countryman to buy a 2019 RAV4 Adventure.
