  • This is a first for The Miniac. This is a 2016 Mini Cooper S Countryman All4. My first time reviewing an R60 Countryman. It's definitely an interesting vehicle and it's interesting reviewing a car that you remember driving when it was new.

I don't understand why there's so much hating on this model. I bought a 2016 R60 S a year ago (my second MINI, the first was a 2006 R50 that I bought new in 2007 and I traded in for the R60) and I LOVE it! I have four gripes about the car that seem common, but they're nothing I can't live with. I bought the R60 because my original MINI had reached the point it was nickle-and-diming me to death, and being thirteen years older than I was when I got the R50, I was looking for a car that was a bit easier to get into and out of. This Countryman fits the bill, while retaining all the fun of my original R50 (minus the manual transmission, xenon headlights, and the HK sound system).

Purchased a 2012 Countryman JCW (All4) fully spec'd with automatic transmission and 19" JCW alloy rims w/new tires...for CHF13,900 (about USD15k), incl a set of 18" alloy/winter tires and a 1 year warranty. The car had a solid maintenance record and only 105KM on the odometer. As the oil was changed frequently, it does not burn any oil! Excellent car that I have enjoyed over the last 8 months.

@@TheMINIac So far so good. Did change out one wheel bearing. The rest...just basic maintenance...oil.filter changes. Basic stuff. The car came with its 3 year CH inspection as a prerequisite of the purchase...these inspections are serious and I didn't want to get hit with any surprises. With no accident record/evidence, it really seems they mistakenly priced this one as a Countryman S and not a JCW All 4. In this country, I often see these cars going for at least $6K over my purchase price.I will do a transmission drain/refill (NOT a flush) and filter kit change on this car before year end...just for safe measure. The OEM specs claim lifetime fluid...but this is not optimal practice...best to replace the fluid/filter with the recommended spec at least every 80K miles (120k KM)....and check the used fluid for any excessive transmission wear.

My wife prefers this gen of the Countryman we sold her 2015 last year but found it's replacement - a very low mile 2013 - both All4s both in "lite coffee" - you either love or hate that color. I'll on the lookout for a Roadster either S or JCW without a light interior....

@@TheMINIac Thanks! Not techy and the one I saw was from Tadi Brothers for about 600.00 They claim they'll supply a list of local installers once I purchase which left me a little shy although I can get a refund if the installers are not close by. Are you familiar with them? www.tadibrothers.com/products/mini-backup-camera-system

The R60 never did. And it wasn’t a required feature on cars until 2017 which meant we didn’t see it until 2018 on most cars.

Good! That is about time to have touch screen with any screen size combination! I am not fan of that nav control by the armrest. My MINI has a retro style radio with thin rectangular screen with 2 knobs to control functions and it is much easier for me to use then that nan control

Thank you for uploading! I noticed two shades of British Racing Green Mini Countryman in the background of your video (or was it Enigmatic Black?) I much prefer the darker shade. Is this only available on the Cooper S and JCW Countryman models?

They're electrically adjustable but no folding option on early 2013 build. Some of the later models I.e. Sept 2013 get this option. I'd love to get them done and add the comfort access. Check out this link for F60 type touch screen for R60 done in Malaysia. (Sadly not exportable). ua-cam.com/video/JZr4Un7jdeI/v-deo.html

I just bought a 2016 Mini Cooper countryman s all4. It’s beautiful. Buuuut my dad and my brother both said I made a bad decision because the engines on these minis do not last very long. They said even with good upkeep and regular maintenance, the mini can start giving me trouble at 75k miles. After doing much research, I’m sad to say, I think they’re right. I’m seriously considering returning it to the dealer. But is there any hope?

Honestly im an old big three guy, ford chevy dodge. We have not seen or experienced any issues. Its direct injection, they benefit from an oil catch can like anything else. Run liqui moly synthetic, every 3k, and the car should treat you right. Was very skeptical at first but now im a mini fan.
