For me it's both. First being a December kid and the fact that it is festive but to an extent, bittersweet. For what children see as the most wonderful time of the year is in contrast, the finality of a waning year and to many, life itself...

I found true tranquility in a place called Cathedral Grove, a place on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of the oldest stand of trees anywhere in the world. It is a world heritage site. These trees are enormous. The peace there is palpable. It transmits in the ground beneath your feet. Trees are living things. These giants give peace if we would simply take the time to experience them. We all seek inner peace and tranquility. It can be xo elusive. You will find it here. To me, the giant trees bring out our sense of tranquility if we would but listen..... and feel their presence.
