I have been dealing with a beeping smoke detector for over a year and a half. Not once did I think to check the carbon monoxide detector plugged into an outlet in the same room as the smoke detector. Thank you Jesus for directing me to this video. I can finally have some peace. Bless you brother.

I'm laughing while understanding your pain. I have had that regularly with my wired detectors. My problem was 99% of the time the two combo 120v Carbon/Smoke detectors that I bought for the two kids bedroom. For some reason those always chirped as if the battery was low even though they are hardwired with the battery as back up. When I would swap a regular detector with those combo units the problem would follow where I put the combo. My detectors are about 10yrs old now so I am going to be replacing them all today. One feature I wish they made VERY clear was the light that would stay constant NOT BLINK to the detector that is having the problem. I hate waking up and then waiting for that 3-10min chirp. Wait in the hallway, nope, move to bedroom, nope...
Make a clear separate LED light that is for the alarming detector that stays light that it has detected something or battery is low. I feel your pain and frustration. All this would be solved with better designed detectors with separate indicator lights. I love the something about marry crazy tick face you made.. :)

    OMG dude, SPOT ON!!
Just got back from vacation, house is being painted and the painters unplugged my CM detector and set it in my master bedroom.
We started hearing chirping the morning after we returned from our trip, and I started changing batteries. BUT I kept hearing that damn chirp!
I kept going back to the master bedroom because that damn smoke detector was still chirping. I took the battery out, unplugged it but the chirping persisted!! I briefly looked at the unplugged CM detector on the ground but my wife insisted it couldn't be that!!
I about lost my shit, then started watching UA-cam videos and the third video I watched was yours. And after your epiphany, I picked up the CM detector, walked it downstairs and waited.. 30 seconds later I heard it!!!
    THANK YOU!!

Very good point about the batteries getting cold. We used to keep spare batteries in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life. Here checking out smoke alarm videos since I was rudely awoke at about 5 AM this morning by my inter-connected, CO/Smoke alarm going off. FIRE!!! FIRE!!! FIRE!!! Spouse getting ready for work shouting at me, cat freaking out and me stumbling around trying to make sense of what was actually going on. After a bit of checking for smoke... There was none. Checked breakers and the clothes dryer which got turned on again to make sure clothes were dry. House was cool and humid from recent rains and windows being left open. For me it appears that the detector in our living room kitchen area has failed. It was the one flashing after the alarm was reset. All the others were solid green. Battery is still good at 9.67 volts. I smoke in this area so I guess that after several years of this varying use/abuse it has had enough. Pulled it out of the circuit and all is well. Guess I will be buying a new one today and some batteries for the others. ;)

So much time was wasted while enduring the painful chirping sound, until Eventually I watched the bearded guy in cool T shirt video. indeed it was the CO detector that caused all that suffering and agony. It took a few seconds to remove it and toss it in the garbage. AGAIN THANK YOU, VERY GRATEFUL.

I had a smoke detector that kept going off. Not chirping, but going off. The damn thing was new with a built -in 10 year permanent battery. I kept pressing the button to silence it and it still kept going off. I took a hammer and smashed it to bits, wrote a nice nastygram, packed it all up and mailed it to Kidde. They sent me a replacement with a nice letter saying that they don't normally do warranty replacements for physical damage!
Now this was a house I was renovation so I wasn't living in it, but damn if these things only fail if it's 3am if you're actually living in the house.

Dude ........YOU. SAVED. MY. LIFE. 4’11” 63 yr old disabled female. I live alone, no immediate family. Chirping = One solid week, once every 5 minutes, 24-7. Smoke detector domes and batteries removed. Still chirping in my face all the time. Sound Omni directional and maddening. Male relatives tearing hair out...they gave up and abandoned me. Desperate for silence. Debated executing smoke alarms with my .38 S&W. Decided against it, went on UA-cam search instead. Saw this video. Tested carbon monoxide battery units. No more chirping. Blessed silence.....................at last. God bless you all.

What if it’s not the chirping of low batteries but a beep beep beep alarm sound that has gone off at 3 a.m. and again at 8 a.m.? Could it be that all of my hardwired First Alert smoke detectors are old and need replacing? I only gave the one battery operated carbon monoxide detector in the kitchen so it’s not connected to the alarm that went off in my bedroom. I don’t know what to do.

I can't feel a groove with a screwdriver, like another video said. It says turn anticlockwise, so surely it should come off!? Any ideas how I can get the flippin thing off please? Or how I can silence the chirping!?

This is what works for me. If detector starts to chirp, I take it down and vacuum it. Dust, cob webs, insects, and various debris can get inside and fool detector causing it to chirp. Next, I put the battery in and let detector sit near me for couple of hours (while I watch TV), making sure it does not chirp. Then I reinstall it. In many cases I was able to reuse the same battery since chirping had nothing to do with it.

Now...there is no green light on, but rather the Red Light is Blinking!! I've been on the internet for hours....researching. We just changed the battery last week on this hard-wired, First Alert, smoke and carbon monoxide combo. What the heck should I be doing? A new unit? Press the test button? watched so many video's of people explaining how to install a smoke detector, none of them said anything about needs to be same brand of smoke detector until i read some article on the actually website of the smoke detectors didn't think that matter at all, thought interconnectivity was the same throughout all smoke detectors, so started reading more about them, Now I am waiting on a new smoke detector to come to the house and then connect it to see if it will work with the old smoke detectors, I should just change them all out at once but parents on a cheap budget just like everyone else throughout the country. I've also notice that we should all have a combination of smoke detectors throughout the house in each room and on each level of the house, Yes a combination of smoke and CO ( Carbon monoxide) ones. Smoke/CO in the utility Room, one by the stairs, and one in the family room, then the rest of just smoke detectors in each bedroom. I also have concerns about the CO ( Carbon Monoxide) detectors I've notice them being up three or more feet in the house which I find weird because my concern is if gas rises that high in the house would it not be hard to walk through that if its already throughout the home I would suggestion putting a plug in your outlet that way they will go off before it's High than your Bed or your kids bed to alert you of the dangerous gases seeping throughout your home that will give you enough time to get out before its at the 3 or 4 foot level mark, Just a thought i've had while researching smoke and CO alert alarms. Oh and it's always good to have a battery checker with you while installing batteries in anything these days, FYI. HEHE
Great Video kinda reminds me of a tribute from the movie office space where they take the printer out in the field and just have at it! LOL Wink three fingers salute! LOL
