With seasonal farming you're waiting for the crops anyway so it's worth putting in the work steps. I would have liked to see the return/time for every test. I imagine mulching causes a larger dip in the ratio than fertilizing and I would like to see which one is "most profitable" to skip.
thanks a lot, perfect explanation. if you want to have increase %5 bonus without mulchnig, you will follow this steps. Mulchnig does not work. This is my type, i think quick and effective solution.
1. deep cultivater (15km/h and 8 m, other machines are slower or shorter ) 2. lime (if needed) 3. plant (same time planting and solid fert. , avoid time wasting) 4. rolling (%5 BONUS, it is very important) 5. weeder (%50 weed because we used deep cultivater, ı use Treffler mach. 15,2 m and cheaper than herb.) 6. liquid fert. then you have increase %100 without mulchnig
Thank you for the highly detailed video. I read about the decrease in yield from using herbicide in the Acadamy and I was looking everywhere for what the actual percentage was over a manual weeder, now I know it's 10%. Glad to see you covered many of the questions I was wondering after watching the first two Yield Improvement videos.
your income/time is very interesting and kinda proves a point - in the US, they use far less yield efficient methods than in other places, because they have SO much land to make up the difference. Small farms in europe use everything they can to get the most out of the land. Until a good, solid map with no bugs requiring restarts is out there (could be several weeks), I intend to get to a point where I farm the entire map, and realized I wouldn't have time to do everything most likely. Certainly not mulch, using only 6m mulchers which only give a 2.5%. With mulching and repair costs, you can actually LOSE money, if you use a tractor highly overpowered for the mulcher....not to mention hiring a worker to do it.
Awesome info Scroft!! Thanks for taking the time to figure all this out and present it in a way that is very easy to understand and apply to our games.👌 Can't wait for the next video!

Glad to get some accurate numbers on this. Wish Giants just had accurate documentation, especially considering one of the main differences between plows and things like subsoilers or spaders are the time between weeds, and the rocks. Their documentation says plows only bring up small rocks, and yet on my save, they bring up both depending on the field. Also, a different UA-camr recently found they got a higher yield without mulching, and just going straight to a direct drill seeder, might be worth a test. Really appreciate all the work you do.
Yeah I find the spaders a bit odd, they are slower the plows and gives weed, but it gives plowed state. But the subsoiler has same width but are faster. Makes no sense. 🤨
@@simon7109100 The whole stone thing would be fine, but it's always the same amount but different sizes. After a while it's getting annoying so I turned it off.
First of all, thank you for this great video and all the work you put into it for us. Found your channel recently and am glad I did. After watching your numbers it makes me wonder if some of these steps are actually making us lose money in the bigger picture. Especially something like mulching that takes forever on fields like 71 on Elmcreek. Not only does it take a lot of play time, but the thousands of dollars I spend just on repairs alone on the implement and tractors after I’m done may not even be offset by the small increase in yield, let alone make the process more lucrative. I hope Giants brings a little bit more balance in there by maybe reducing repair costs or offering much wider mulching equipment.
I think that on bigger (or more) fields the costs vs rewards are there. In this case it was a small field so the rewards are to little. When starting and keep maintenance low I think the minimum required time on the field and using the least equipment possible is the way to go. Then build stuff that generates income on the side. I like green houses with auto selling because they require so little effort but generate a steady enough income. When you have enough it will cover the maintenance costs and from there you grow in equipment and the extra yield bonuses. I do however believe maintenance is over done. When buying a new tractor it is all fine at first, maintenance is just creeping up slowly. But when at an age it feels like needing maintenance is occurring faster and faster to a point it is not making any money. I am at year 6 now in game and already got rid of some stuff that lost around 50% maintenance per year with stones turned off. I could actually see the maintenance bar moving when on the field. Or maybe the equipment was just bugged or it has something to do with the used equipments. Not sure yet.
@@herethen in away, its to emulate how older equipment needs to be rotated out (sld) and replaced by newer ones. when my equipment gets like this (its ased off hours) i treat it like an overhaul by selling and buying a new version of the same tractor. overhauls rebuilds of drive trains are nearly as expensive as just getting new equipment, so I find this feature to be adequate. your tractors won't last forever, just like in real life Maintenance can only take you so far.

Great job thank you 👍 Me after I harvest I fertilize, then I plow, after that I roll the Little Rock and I plant with direct seeding with fertilizer. I make that every cycle, how many % I have with that in your mind?

So it's only every 3 harvest, if it doesn't require it you will get the bonus. On weeding, if you have weeds take care of them early on and try to avoid Herbicide if possible. If you've plowed tho you won't get any and get the 20% bonus for them not being there. I've just don't the chickens one, pigs are next. Love u 2 😆🤗
could you also test weeds growth SPEED, using a DD, Disc Harrow, etc - implements that cause faster weed growth. So what happens? Weeds appear immediately after planting? Stage 1 (small weeds) is skipped?? Inquiring minds want to know if there is a consequence to the "faster" methods of farming.
What would be mega helpful would be a spreadsheet the lowest prices, average prices and highest prices on all 3 difficulties even if it was just the crops would be amazing if you had the time of course to do such a feat as I know it would be mega time consuming
When you weed can you weed right after planting (like herbicide) or in the first stage of weed growth? Also do you only need to do it once (like herbicide) or do the weeds keep coming back meaning you have to weed multiple times through the growth process? Love the content keep it up!
My process after harvest!.. Fertilize.. Cultivate/Plow(depending on if I need to plow).. Seed.. Fertilize and then I spray herbicide as my last step. I never get weeds when I spray herbicide after seeding
Herbicide actually lowers the yield compared to a mechanical weeder. However it's necessary if the weeds have grown too big. At least according to FS academy, though they do have other things wrong.
You can use the hoe weeder that I used as soon as the weeds have grown and it will remove them like herbicide, without the 10% penalty for using herbicide. Also the weeds wont grow back. One thing i should of tested tho was if I sprayed herbicide before I planted would this stop weeds and not have the negative effect of spraying herbicide on the crop
So that’s the question because usually you have to wait for the first stage of crop growth to see the weeds by which time they’ve already effected your crop correct? So pre spraying herbicide before the crop grows does that negatively impact them? So much testing to still be done I don’t envy you lol thanks for the feedback though!
Great video! I'm hoping you make the weeder video and explain how the 2 that take seeds function. I don't understand when you would ever weed & seed at the same time.
Really appreciate the effort you put into it and all other tests😊 Some of this yield improvements if not all should be just available in game help(in more clear way) or by tutorial.
Nice test, but still have question, if your field doesnt ask for lime is it really worth lime it again? This doesnt add any more bonus, so i guess lime if field doesnt ask for it is useless
Next video which is the most efficient I.e where is the sweet spot for the best yield to time I’m guessing mulching isn’t worth it with what it will cost in fuel etc
Using herbicide hurts your plants and using weeder doesn't? Jesus that's an awesome thing to know and it also makes kinda sense... Also to summerize the result, just to be clear, using a sub soiler instead of cultivator is better right?
Well that answers a lot of questions. Great tutorial vids. Keep up the great work. Learning so much from your vids. Thank you for taking the time to do it.

Nice work. Btw, 44 is 0.18 HA (~0.44 Acres)
Ran the same on the same field, and got the exact same numbers, on the spot. Had to try. :)
👍
Next video which is the most efficient I.e where is the sweet spot for the best yield to time I’m guessing mulching isn’t worth it with what it will cost in fuel etc
Using herbicide hurts your plants and using weeder doesn't? Jesus that's an awesome thing to know and it also makes kinda sense...
Also to summerize the result, just to be clear, using a sub soiler instead of cultivator is better right?
Thank you
To me the 2.5% increase from mulching isn't worth the time due to the small size of the units. At least the rollers are decent size.
Hopefully we will see some Mods that will help on that
1 hectare= 10000 m² so you should be able to get the area from the coordinates.
Well that answers a lot of questions. Great tutorial vids. Keep up the great work. Learning so much from your vids. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
Glad you will find this helpful going forward. Thanks for watching 👍
A “ball point” figure. Lol
Haha. To many video games are making me go crazy. My brain wanted "ball park" but I got ball point 😅
So you pretty much want to plow everytime unless you play with weeds turned off. Weeds are a nightmare in this game.
If you have plowing turned off you automatically get the bonus, same for weeds. and you only plow every 3 harvest. but still get the bonus
Very basic calculation to get the field size but now days people don't know basic calculations. I would tell you how big it is based on the very basic calculation but that just isn't fun.
🤣 Thanks 😭
Check percent in 10 and 11 but good stuff
What do you mean?
@@Scroft yields different and correct percentages both say 100 when 10 should read 97.5 ,worth correcting as otherwise a fantastic vid
@@fsconsultantcy2559 that was what I expected the buff to be so I thought both rolling would give me the extra 2.5 to 100. The rolling before gave me less and was 97.5% instead of 100%. Thanks 👍
One collum is expected and the other is actual % buff if that makes sense 👍
@@Scroft sort of ,but you are writing the "bible" so please stick to actual. love your content
and when I do Mulching, Subsoiling, Liming, Oilseed radish, Rolling, Cultivating, Collecting stones, Planting with fertilizer, Rolling and weeding will I have a higher yield?
