Hey everyone, hope you like the video! This was my first time editing together a project of this size for someone other than myself, any feedback is appreciated. I tried to keep as many clips as possible from actual expert games played with Franks on the ladder, and filled in some other shots like 3:11 from the scenario editor. Sorry for everyone who now has to face even more Franks pickers...
as i watched the video I noted how good the editing was, helps a lot with dauts thick accent. I personally dont think its worth the time for you to find actual expert game clips because the advice is coming from a pro, its lot like we doubt dAut about these being likely scenarios or useful advice. if anything the drop in visual quality is a bit jarring. looking forward to more work from you both.
The transitions were great! There were some spots to improve - for example when he said that he values scouting, you can show a barracks with a flag being found.
That is fantastic. The game and its decision making is so complex, I have never seen somebody break it down into simple logic decisions like that. Very helpful, not only in terms of the actual tips but also just in terms of displaying your thought process and the factors you base decisions on.
DauT this is awesome content. Really informative and a new way of talking about a civ. I liked how you gave scenarios on what to do and when. Can't wait for the next one!
Honestly DauT you're the one guy I've been waiting for to do content like this. You've been a pro on the scene for longer than anyone else around, and that comes with an understanding of AoE that few have. If the viewership supports it, please keep doing content like this.
DauT this is what you should do more of. Your experience and knowledge of aoe2 is second to none and I am sure everyone would love seeing this type of content from you!
This video should have just been titled, how to play cavalry civilisations. I came for the Franks tutorial and left with my general game knowledge expanded like no other age video I've ever seen. Thank you Daut.
Thanks Daut and T-west, nice work, different from Hera or Spirit civ overviews, this goes much deeper into practical details, which I think is excellent.
Finally a proper (civ) decision making guide. We can all read out the bonuses of the civs but the key to winning a game is proper in game decision making. This guide is the first guide that I’ve seen that breaks down the key factor to making correct decisions in a game. This type of content is long overdue.
These types of videos are excellent. While the standard AOE answer is “it depends”, this video tries to cover as many scenarios and the decision making behind them (which is even more important)
Dout castles may be a thing, but Dout videos certainly are not. This is hands down THE best “how to play ___ civ” video I have seen. So much good knowledge and plenty of it would probably help with other civs too. All hail the lord of AOE! 🙏🙏🙏
@2:13 i appreciate you explicitly telling us that this is the core of aoe2 - it is easy to forget that learning how to control the game is a very important skill. i often go all in and while it's fun, it does feel like i'm not really learning.. it was a good reminder for me. thanks!
This is great information from a seasoned pro like yourself, thanks Daut! More of these, every now and then, would be a welcomed addition. I appreciate hearing your perspective on strategy. T-West, great job editing!
Awesome Dautie! Love it! Thanks a lot. I was actually surprised how good your tips were. Perfect amount, only things that seem necessary, no overload of info, just perfect, thanks a lot!
Great stuff Daut! You don`t seem like the type at first, but you´ve already proven that you are a good teacher and video maker with Road to 2k Guide on Voobly. This new video is on another level when it comes to video making. You learned a lot it seems. Daut is more than a funny guy and a good player. Keep it up.
A pleasant surprise. Your guide is brief and concise, and gives actual advice on how to make decisions based on matchups and current situation, something that no other guide do in such detail. I also like the summary you give at the end of the video for quick reference. I would love to see more videos like this for the rest of civs!
Really enjoyable video and quite different from the other guides you see on youtube. I'd love to see these for more civs (or even other common maps). Great content!
Insane video. Short which is perfect, and with all the logic and rationale for making decisions for each situation. Very useful indeed! Thank you very much for all the time invested, I know its a ton of work. You have my like
Wow that was really cool. Know it's outside your normal comfort zone but very appreciated even to a low Elo like me 😊. Enjoy the design breakdown age by age for the two different main civil categories. Unique and strategy focused approach to the "teaching civs" genre I feel. I know you are trying to keep them short but maybe an aside comment for things like camels coming at you would be good? Generally great stuff and as a primarily UA-cam AOE watcher I look forward to more 😊
Finally someone is bringing some light to one of the most underplayed civs on the ladder: The Franks! Maybe now some players will actually be brave enough to pick this underappreciated civ in 1v1 RM matches.
For a first video this is pretty damn good. No doubt castle here. I love the detail around what to do if you're up the age first or last. Really good info and really well edited.
I love the style I love the spreadsheet! Also, great addition to a Hera style guide, they fit together good! Great job, keep it up ☺️☺️ (edit: spelling mistake)
If you're looking for an additional idea, maybe to add onto this style of video you can make video on less expected kind of matchups or situations, maybe that's a weird strat or like... Celts or Spanish w conqs, and how to deal with that with the civ at hand. Or maybe that calls for a strat specific set of videos, like for example "how to deal with the Berber vil rush" or "how to deal with towers" and so on...
Your video is rich in decision making and play styles and times rather than any data you can scrap from the tech tree or these stats sites. Thank you very much. "DauT es DauT".
Very different way of talking about the game in terms of guides - mostly ignoring build orders and going into what is thought about and done for decision making purposes has not been presented in such a way before. Build orders can be found anywhere, but figuring out when or why to focus military or expand economy (or a bit of both) is something much harder to learn. I'd much rather ignore build orders for the mostpart and learn core concepts instead, so to me this video is a pretty perfect format! Would love to see more, showing it from the opposite side as an archer civ would be a good follow-up, and maybe then looking at other maps and strategy choices like monk/pike/siege push maybe. When do you decide to go for a strategy and what goes into that decision. Cheers!
I love this. Explaining how to approach the game in general, as an overview makes it so much simpler. We need detailed breakdown too, but many a times that makes me lose focus on the big picture.
Great video! Have been playing and watching aoe2 for some years and I'm at 12-13k elo. So i kind of knew most of the concepts, but the structure of the video will probably help me implement more of the strategic aspects into my game.

First thing I said to my self watching this was the quality of the transitions; really well done.
The transitions were great! There were some spots to improve - for example when he said that he values scouting, you can show a barracks with a flag being found.
Is not more frank pickers, at least we know what exactly they are up to 😅
3:11 thanks for the heart attack
Daut morphing into gandalf and spewing wisdom
"You have no power here, Gandaut the Grey!"
Gandaut the White:
11
"You shall not pass"!
...1k elo without this Knowlege😅
A knight rush is never late, nor is it early. It arrives exactly when it means to.
Daut will get those new kids on the block in kotd5
The research town watch scene that revealed 200 knights was my favourite.
The feeling when town watch comes in
Godly structure to explain everything
omg that town watch scared me 😅
This is by far the best AOE advice video I've seen
That is fantastic. The game and its decision making is so complex, I have never seen somebody break it down into simple logic decisions like that. Very helpful, not only in terms of the actual tips but also just in terms of displaying your thought process and the factors you base decisions on.
agreed, this was fantastic. best explanation of the actual decision making and strategy for aoe2 that i’ve seen
DauT this is awesome content. Really informative and a new way of talking about a civ. I liked how you gave scenarios on what to do and when. Can't wait for the next one!
Easily the most strategic guide I've seen of any AoE video.
Honestly DauT you're the one guy I've been waiting for to do content like this. You've been a pro on the scene for longer than anyone else around, and that comes with an understanding of AoE that few have.
If the viewership supports it, please keep doing content like this.
Please do more of these for each civ my lord. All hail!
This is fantastic. One of the best civ guides I have seen: succinct and informative.
Loved the town watch detail with the horde outside the base 😅
I didn't expect this king of content from Daut. I'm happily suprised.
Love the protection of the castle in the intro!
this is the best aoe2 tutorial i have ever seen. such a great breakdown of not only the flow of possibility but why choices are being made
Professor Daut giving us his divine blessings!
DauT this is what you should do more of. Your experience and knowledge of aoe2 is second to none and I am sure everyone would love seeing this type of content from you!
The Lord has decided to bless us with a portion of his endless wisdom
This video should have just been titled, how to play cavalry civilisations. I came for the Franks tutorial and left with my general game knowledge expanded like no other age video I've ever seen. Thank you Daut.
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks DauTi
This is by far the best AoE 2 tutorial for intermediate/higher-level players I've watched on UA-cam.
A good focus on decisionmaking, as expected from DauT.
This is amazing! This is the kind of STRATEGY advice we are looking for!! Not "put villager 6 on this villager 7 on that..."!!
Learned more in this video than hours of watching streamers lol.
A-mazing… awesome video Daut thank you
My gosh, what a guide! Hail to the Lord!! Hope you make more of these!
Didn't know I needed Daut's guides. No I want more
Thanks Daut and T-west, nice work, different from Hera or Spirit civ overviews, this goes much deeper into practical details, which I think is excellent.
And sum up chart at the end is just great for quick checking.
Finally a proper (civ) decision making guide.

This is far more advanced than anything out there. This is our Lord's Art of War.
The Lord has spoken!
Aaayee aaayee The Lord is blessing us with his immense knowledge!!
Dout castles may be a thing, but Dout videos certainly are not. This is hands down THE best “how to play ___ civ” video I have seen. So much good knowledge and plenty of it would probably help with other civs too.
All hail the lord of AOE! 🙏🙏🙏
3:14 feels like every ladder match against franks
The lord has blessed us with his wise word
Great advice not only for Franks players but for players in general. Good job Daut.
@2:13 i appreciate you explicitly telling us that this is the core of aoe2 - it is easy to forget that learning how to control the game is a very important skill. i often go all in and while it's fun, it does feel like i'm not really learning.. it was a good reminder for me. thanks!
Thanks mr Daut very good and useful video.
Reminds me of the videos zero empires made a decade back.
The table at 11:50 is so well done I want to hang it on the wall behind my monitor.
This was surprisingly helpful and interesting to watch. Great video !
Praise the lord, great content and a whole new take on explaining a civ.
Great guide. After watching 100s of hours it's good to still get new information
This is a very good video. I am a player who mostly plays Franks and I got to learn so much of what makes sense and why.
This is great information from a seasoned pro like yourself, thanks Daut! More of these, every now and then, would be a welcomed addition. I appreciate hearing your perspective on strategy. T-West, great job editing!
Thank you, Spirit of the Daut:)
Awesome Dautie! Love it! Thanks a lot. I was actually surprised how good your tips were. Perfect amount, only things that seem necessary, no overload of info, just perfect, thanks a lot!
DauT: Make Mangonels
Subtitle: Mc Donalds
Me: Hungry 11
Great strategy information, DauT. Cheers.👍
this video is amazing. i hope you will do more videos of this type in the future. great job to you and t-west.
i am impressed
Thank you for sharing your experience Daut ! We appreciate it !!❤
Fantastic video, looking forward to the next one!
Keep it up.
That was very interesting and informative AND unique. Your way to change your business model to content creator
A pleasant surprise. Your guide is brief and concise, and gives actual advice on how to make decisions based on matchups and current situation, something that no other guide do in such detail. I also like the summary you give at the end of the video for quick reference. I would love to see more videos like this for the rest of civs!
Appreciated the guides and hope to see more in the future!
"How do you play Franks?"
TheViper: "It depends, I can't explain in 15 minutes."
DauT: "This way"
😮
half the views on this video are probably from viper trying to learn how to AOE
Instructions unclear: Tried this on arena and lost
He had walls up by the time my scouts got there
Yes Lord Dauti!
This was really nice! I really like the in detail explaining how to play in each szenario
If 3:15 happens to me, I won't resign. I will just plug off the PC cord.
Loved the video, it's also nice to see a focus on specific common scenarios in detail which often gets missed in other guides.
You have my like
I was here to witness Daut becoming a UA-camr! Jokes aside, amazing content, hope you are able to keep it up
This is great content. Daut's understanding and explaining of the game coupled with Twest's pro editing.
Man this is brilliant
amazing video! I guess this is good not just as franks but as any cavalry civ in general with slight adjustments in eco. great content ,subscribed.
Big ups to Professor DauT
Awesome, much appreciated!
i feel like i learned way more than just Franks
Really nice and informative video, hope you keep this format for future guides 🎉
Love this type of video, thanks DauT!
Odlično! Nastavi sa ovakvim sadržajem obavezno!
loved the vid, love dividing it into calv/archer civs
This is just a great general vid playing as a calvary civ tbh!
Thanks for the great vid DuaT. I hope to see more guides like this.
Wow that was really cool. Know it's outside your normal comfort zone but very appreciated even to a low Elo like me 😊.
Enjoy the design breakdown age by age for the two different main civil categories. Unique and strategy focused approach to the "teaching civs" genre I feel.

Generally great stuff and as a primarily UA-cam AOE watcher I look forward to more 😊
This is fantastic content! I look for snippets of wisdom DauT drops on stream and this is all of them neatly wrapped in a great video!
Hey guys, Spirit of the Lord here❤
Love this type of new content from the best!!
I love the style I love the spreadsheet! Also, great addition to a Hera style guide, they fit together good! Great job, keep it up ☺️☺️ (edit: spelling mistake)

But keep it in this style of narration! I love the way you methodically analyse the flow of the game in this guide!!
Your video is rich in decision making and play styles and times rather than any data you can scrap from the tech tree or these stats sites. Thank you very much. "DauT es DauT".
I was fully expecting some late-to-upload April fools video but this was really great video.
Hey guys, Spirit of Daut here. Today we'll take a look at how to still win tournaments after 20 years of playing the game.
Great content. Amazing depth of information for such a short video.
This is super insightful. I was always interested in how you view the game.
Amazing video thanks for all the insight! Looking forward to more like this please

this is great DauT!
I love this. Explaining how to approach the game in general, as an overview makes it so much simpler. We need detailed breakdown too, but many a times that makes me lose focus on the big picture.
Great video Daut
Hey guys spirit of the Lord here
Great video! Have been playing and watching aoe2 for some years and I'm at 12-13k elo. So i kind of knew most of the concepts, but the structure of the video will probably help me implement more of the strategic aspects into my game.
Thank you Daut, my fav character in the community ❤️
Thank you so much for this great video : D
