my neighbor has a red (yard machine ?) version of this . i hate working on it (oddball engineering , non removable belt guide around engine , wheels from other mowers won't fit , have to drop transaxle to change belt on some models , etc) but it has been a good mower , lasting many years .
Hey, how powerful is the battery for this thing? I have one at mine's, and i just keep struggling with it. First of all, the battery- never starts, and then the belts (Dont know proper english word for it) kept ripping, so i replaced it with a bit stronger one, just same size, but it jsut keeps struggling to start. ANd when we do start it from a running car with cables, it instantly starts running the baldes, even tho the PTO is turned off. May you know a fix for it? We cant put a weaker belt because it will rip again, changed it twice already :/. I am thinking that mayhaps the spring, which is connected to a cable, which leads to the pto switch, could be somehow modified so it is less tense or smth, but then when i turn the pto on, it might not grab the blades at all... I am lost, pls help. Maybe the mechanism is the same for all of those tractors.
But also not exactly familiar with your engine, but it’s possible that your valves need adjusting one of the characteristics is hard to start sometimes
As for the belts, I have a video somewhere where a mower deck was shredding belts very often. My particular issue on that one was one of the bearings was going out in one of the pulleys so when you have your belt off, put your hand and spin all the pulleys and if it makes a louder noise, replace it, this is very common.
I once bought a smaller battery for one of my mowers and I was very disappointed as it would hardly start it so now when I buy them, it’s a minimum of the 425 code cranking amps, lesson learned
Nice find there, got the same one just like it still working on it
Pretty good Mower
Great find!!!!
Thanks I got lucky with this one
That seemed almost too easy. Great job
I know really I’m happy about it but every once in a while, I like to figure something out
Can you beleive it? That was a good easy fix. 👌
I got lucky with this one
I feel like most of the time I’m not quite that lucky
My luck I'd have to spend a fortune to get it running

Yeah - on this to remove the hood you must remove the lights- no disconnect plug
Nice one Lee. Great mower. I have a, l believe a Yard Works mower that looks all most the same.
Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

That’s for sure.
Hey Lee , very nice . 👍👊
I’ve got lucky with this one
There's a Big Spring underneath from the rear end to the deck or the brackets I forgot I went back on
Yes, I believe you’re correct to assist in lifting the implement
Or are you talking about on the deck?
I know one end of the spring I think it was attached to the rear axle somehow it had a crazy C clip that goes with it like a hook
I just acquired the exact same mouser.. can you tell me specifically what type of battery you bought? What do you mean by booster pack? Thanks!
I would go to auto zone type store and ( take your old one ) and have them match h it and replace

As for the battery when I buy a new one, I always buy the larger cold cranking amps such as 425, it should eliminate that type of issue

Thanks a lot for replying! I'll try to work on it some more before completely giving up on this one
