Exciting, delightful, and motivational YOU!!!! Please don’t be embarrassed if you don’t have finished garments to show us!!!! I think I speak for most of your audience that we love whatever you are presenting as you make us smile!!!! I loved this one as I also get giddy over fabric finds!! Last year I went to an estate sale and I was inside a little longer than I intended. As I went outside to checkout I had to peek at the large tent set up in the yard!!!! When I peeked around the corner my eyes popped out of my head because the tent was FULL of fabric!!!! The lady was a quilter and so most were cottons woven! I stayed another several hours. When I checked out they said we will be open tomorrow too with more discounts!!!! I had just lost my mother who would have gone absolutely nuts in there, so I had to make her proud!!!! Of course I was there the next day and I suppose I bought more fabric than most and so they asked me if I wanted to purchase the remaining for one price!!!! There was no way I could store it all and sadly I declined!!! I really need to get on the stick now with sewing!!! I’m just a bit downhearted with the situation of our world right now and your happy personality brightens my day!!! Keep on shining!

Psalm 91: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” Amen and amen. The Psalms have been a comfort and balm throughout these weird days, Melissa, I know you know that too!💕

Happy late birthday Viv. Thank you for helping bring on a smile. I lost my sewing and crafting mojo. I been forcing myself to sew things that just need a little fixing in my pile and got that done today. My granddaughters will be 1 on the 13 and was so looking forward to it especially since the were under 2 pounds when they were born. We will be doing a zoom for their party. All of us. I made them some summer hats and some washcloths and burp pads but can't get them over there yet. Trying to keep my spirits up and missing family. I am so glad to hear people are in the same place I am. Thank you for being you and doing these videos. We all love you and enjoy anything you bring us. Don't be embarrased not to bring any sewing makes just the chats help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’ll tell you something, Marian: your little granddaughters will LOVE those presents from their sweet grandma and a drive-by party is certainly going to be memorable! (Is that what a zoom party is?🤪) Gosh, I wish things were different but we will lean on the Lord and trust that His angels are all around our loved ones, and us. I got a surge of energy today and did some things (cleaning, made a pasta salad, sewed!!) and it felt great. I hope to capitalize on this rare burst of activity and not slide back into the slumps. More videos coming! I’m thinking of you and praying that we all come out the other side of this very soon.💕

Candace’s drawing is great. She loves you a lot to care to do this labor of love. Good job Mom. My oldest is to be 29 tomorrow and when our children care about our interests we feel loved. Nice fabrics. You do not have to sew if you do not want to. Your not a machine. Your a person with many interests. I am trying to finish a top using a brown gingham. The long sleeves anyone’s are a matching brown lace. Getting in and sitting down to do it is a challenge. Why? I enjoy doing it. Crazy. Keep up good work Viv.

Aww Gina, thank you for this lovely message. Happy birthday to your oldest!! My oldest is 30. How does the time fly so quickly!? I so appreciate you saying “you do not have to sew if you do not want to. You’re not a machine, you’re a person with many interests.” I’ve been feeling so remiss about NOT sewing because I hate to let anyone down. So your message really helps. Bless you.💕

That fabric looks beautiful and delicious. I have to agree with the no "mojo." Someone explained that it is a communal grief, a loss of normalcy. We'll get through it. I do have to agree it feels the same as when I was grieving after someone has died. I just don't have the mental energy. Even my memory is affected, and I feel sad. I find something positive to look forward to every day. I was tempted to eat some ice cream tonight, which I don't normally do. I had some vitamin C instead with a little orange juice and barley green.
Love you Viv. Thanks for being a bright spot in our day. We have much to be thankful for. Hugs to you and your family. Jesus is risen! Praise the Lord! He is risen!

Vivmom I love you! I've been sewing for decades and am always excited about fabrics just like you. This Covid Lockdown time has put a huge damper on my sewing. I've stopped sewing for months with no desire. I'm at the point that I feel like I'm losing my skills! I hope to get motivated after the holidays. I love your positivity and your creativity. Thanks for brightening up my day!

Hi Toto Pup, I totally understand the lack of motivation to sew. I’m experiencing a bit of that myself. We can give ourselves some space; we are living through strange, rather uncertain times and life is stressful enough already! I did make myself work on my sewing project yesterday (although not until about 10:30 last night) and I made some progress. Now I want to finish my top and move on to the joggers. Your desire will return, your skills are sound and will instantly come back to you, and you’ll be seeing something again before you know it. Thank you for your lovely message!💕

You aren't alone in the not being able to sew and wanting to nosh. Luckily for my waistline the local fire department contracted with some of the area quilt stores to purchase materials for some very specific masks for their first responders to use. Having that project to be involved in has really helped...it is forcing me to sew, dropping some weight from not mindlessly eating and keeping my spirits up. My son-in-law is a local firefighter so this project is dear to my heart. When it ends eventually, hopefully I'll be excited for sewing spring and summer clothes. Wishing you and all of us good luck and good health!

Have been sewing for decades and totally get the don't feel like sewing and feeling I should be sewing. I never had the kind of pressure, like you probably feel (with 21 thousand subscribers )to produce videos. Had knitting, card making and other hand crafts that I did instead. And, of course, reading was the best diversion. Some of those hiatuses were up to a year. In a bit of slump now and thinking I am going to find my most loved fabric , find a great pattern, possibly my most challenging, (and I have no problem finding one in my cabinet) and just cut it and see what happens. Slow pace. If I botch it, not going to feel bad. And even if I don't sew, just going through my whole collection of fabrics and patterns always makes me feel good. Selfishly, I would love to see you do a sew-a-long of your absolutely dying to sew pattern, even if it is one video a month. You bring such fun and joy with your videos. Thank you.

Hello Viv! First - oh my goodness, is Candace ever a talented and skilled artist!! She painted your dress in plaids! Amazing! I hope you find your pattern. In the meantime, I bet Candace's painting of your beloved dress will be treasured as much. No matter the content of your videos, after a "visit" with you I come away uplifted. Your candor, vocabury and humor are refreshing. It's hard when our feelings/motivation don't follow the desires of our heart. Perhaps you're responding to the losses in life that many of us are experiencing. The loss of our way of life, loss of connection as we knew it, loss of options, etc. Maybe we're grieving. Grief is a natural reponse to loss. I don't want to sound bossy, but please be as gentle as you can with yourself right now - as gentle as you'd be w others.

    • @vivmomsews4962
      @vivmomsews4962  4 роки тому

Thank you, Denise, very well put. We ARE grieving, and there’s so much uncertainty and many ways of looking at this current crisis. Personally I think Bill Gates should be tried for crimes against humanity with his vaccines, and no doubt Corona will pave the way for him to swoop in with yet another vaccine. I won’t be taking it no matter what! Onto pleasant topics - the time at home has helped families to reconnect and slow down, and I do believe this is a silver lining. Of course, it is also a form of martial law - not so pleasant. Let’s get back to sewing - a safer and truly pleasant thing to do and contemplate. I am so grateful for sewing!😃

I'm sewing face masks for the hospital using the pattern on their website. Also, using the pattern to make face masks for friends and family. I'm using 100% cotton quilting fabric and 100% cotton thread. I'm working on my second dozen. The pattern has six pieces and a pocket for inserting a filter. The original instructions were the pits, but after making a few I've reduced it to batch sewing. Anything to keep busy, be useful and avoid housework.

Hey Viv! Wow, Candace is a very skilled artist...did a great job on your dress rendering.
I think the mood thing, like the lack of motivation to do “things”....things that we’re usually energetic to do or just “anything” has likely hit many of us. The shock of CV and what it has and continues to do to our world (turn it upside down) has sort of put me into a shock of sorts where I didn’t feel like myself (& had a stomach bug...NO CV! Checked w/my dr & I think I’m over it.) and all the familiar things around me were sort of surreal. I’m just now beginning to get back to myself mood & energy-wise. So be patient with yourself, you will get your energy & motivation back...we all will. It’s just gonna take some time for us to adjust to this new reality. (Yes, you can’t beat Psalms for comfort👍)

I normally have lots of prep and ambition, but somehow as this virus thing drags on....I am easily diverted from good intentions. When life is 'normal' again, we'll all be back in the groove and lovin' life and our hobbies! Maybe it's good for all of us to slow down a little and appreciate the basics -- like gentle times with family.

    • @vivmomsews4962

Yes to life being normal again, though maybe we can’t ever go back. This is all so weird, isn’t it?! And I agree with you, Nikki, that it is good for all of us to slow down and live instead of rushing around on autopilot. (Of course, some of us [me] have taken slowing down to new heights.) We shall press on and say our prayers and have faith that we will soon be over this!

Enjoyed your video Viv! Your fabric haul is lovely:) I've been lolly gagging, lackadaisical in my clothing sewing. I finished up a large lap quilt I promised & embroidered their new on it, but now I can't even give it to them! This last winter I cut out a spring top thinking if would encourage me to make it by spring. I mean it IS cut out already! But nope. I ordered a kitchenaid mixer to bake. My husband ordered a new printer for our home computer. I didn't make maxi. Couldn't get motivated. But you know, I feel all I do is cook with this quarantine goin' on. Really miss eating out, uggg. I did actually put on makeup today & did my nails. Sandal weather is upon us. Oh, & I ordered sandals online. Good grief, we've done a lot of online shopping! So don't feel guilty! I will keep an eye out for your pattern. Your daughter is such a great artist!

Your mind, will, and emotions make up your soul, and our soul is the part of us that deals with these issues around us that are our of our control.

Know how your mojo is hitting. After fixing my Kenmore I worked, and worked, and worked on a coulette I started during the machine break down and anything that could go wrong did. Sewing mojo hit!! But I did find the machine I want as a backup. Brother st371hd. Main feature, not computerized; second, it has a one step buttonholer; and third, Joanne's has it at a decent price. Now we need to get all these virus issues gone, the economy back in shape so I can buy it!! Tell ya, Viv, I truly am fearful of what's to come. Yet I don't think my Kenmore will make it much longer if I continue using it as I am. (She'll be the backup!!)

    Oh, so many things.
Fabric. I'm in absolute love with that light plus modern floral. So, so fabulous. The knit is pretty too.
I keep wondering if you've checked out Hawaii Fabric Mart. You should. Beautiful cottons, great prices.
Why is it the Big 4 haven't given us a comprehensive database of all the patterns they've ever published? You talk to them all the time, I nominate you to mention it. We need some kind of petition. Surely they can hire someone who'd be grateful for a job doing that. Also along those lines, Candace is just a fantastic artist. I seem to recall you've said before that she's a graphic artist. My Emma is an animator who'd love to do medical illustration - currently she animates and helps design video games. She's pretty good about drawing me what I ask for - which is such a gift to have in the family. How great is to just able to say "hey can you draw this for me?" and have it be exactly as you imagined?
Word puzzles. I'm playing one on my phone all the time. My little iPhone 7 is complaining by running out of battery frequently. My dad does your kind of puzzles, and while I love words rather than numbers (sudoku) I hate those word search things, they give me a headache. I'll take a crossword any day. Or trivia, that works too.
    What's your new book?
Ugh, the temptation to eat! WHY WHY WHY and GET THEE BEHIND ME, CURSED TASTE IN MY MOUTH THAT IGNORES MY STOMACH!
I have a half-finished blouse that I don't even like that much in on the table. Ugh, I want to make either the maxi or the tiered-print-mix! I keep getting waylaid by family wanting masks. Once again the blessing and the curse, I love to make beautiful things but everyone knows that "she sews, she'll probably make one if you ask . . ." Also waylaid by the cabinet doors that need to be painted and the shelves to be hung in the sewing room and the unfinished picture wall the endless things my husband annoys me with - apparently he never needs me for this stuff when he's at work but when he's home suddenly I am our omnipotent God. It is building my patience. I even said to him the other day "you know I'm not God, right?"
We're under the stay-at-home order, but my area has been largely spared. They say the peak will hit at the end of April. As for me, I need another drive-by-beaching. Today is warm and humid, perfect day for it even if it's just to drive by and look. There's just something about seeing it that makes me feel better. I've even resorted to watching tv, which I never do. Making the Cut on Amazon Prime is pretty good - 🏝❤️🌺😷😘

Viv, I just loved she your beautiful face and hearing all about you!!! I’ve been keeping Etsy and EBAY in business this week and now need to jump on over to Fabric Mart for something to sew on. Well, my little grandson (6) is wearing me out. I’m in charge of all his home schooling and it’s an ordeal some days.... I’ve decided that life science and music are the way to go. Typical for us is we sing “We WillRock you” while checking in on the plants in his garden and looking at the bugs on the front porch. LOVE your look today, your dress and earrings are so pretty. Love ya lady, thanks for sharing. Judy

As a fellow (former) home schooler I can tell you that you’re doing it the right way, Judy!! I used to think that home school meant replicating the typical classroom at home. Then it dawned on me that that was completely counter intuitive - I took my children out of public school to get away from that! Our home education left lots of time for their interests - Graham loved to build, take things apart, and carve wood, Candace loved her art and singing, Colin loved drawing and Legos and collecting things. I gave them a lot of rope for hobbies and running their lives - they had to know how to do laundry and make a meal and give a good strong handshake, look people in the eye, speak clearly, read, and question authority. It was less about structure and more about LIFE. I say to you: bravo Grandma!! You’re crushing it!! Your grandson is so happy to be with you, I’m sure. Love & prayers!!🌺
