You have been missed. Happy 60th. Just celebrated 65. I wasn't as graceful about it as you. Looking forward to seeing your makes from the quick sew patterns and that color blocked dress will be wonderful.
It is so good to see you Viv. I love those challis! I am just getting started using it, from your inspiration. As a side note, in the 60’s when those pillbox hats were in vogue, especially matching the outfit, ladies made them. A friends mother showed how to cut a part of a Clorox bleach bottle as the base to be covered with fabric. That memory is making me smile this morning.
My husband got that same implant to replace his front tooth that he lost as a kid! So he wore that flipper for 30+ years. Good luck with that procedure. Husband had great success
My hat is off to anyone who weathered a flipper for 30+ years, Christine!! He's a rock star!! And yes, implants are fantastic. This isn't my first; I'm a big fan.
Happy Belated Birthday to you and Brad! Exciting that you got all those Kwik Sew patterns too! Very thoughtful of Pam to think of you and send them. Please don’t feel bad about not having a bunch of makes. It’s nice just to get a chatty video from you:) 🎂
Happy birthday to you! Last week I was in good old Sinking Spring and thought of you! I was reminded as I lugged out two large bags of fabric of the wine glass my daughter gave me for Christmas. It says ‘Buying fabric and sewing are two different hobbies!’
Why do I like thee let me count the ways! You have a flipper tooth. You are loved by so many of your fans. And your humor gets me out of my funk, lol! Bless you!
Happy birthday. The 60s aren't too bad! Your husband shares a birthday with my grandson. I also have a flipper. Mine is a front tooth. I can't wait to take it out every day. Yes, I'd like the fabric
🎉 Happy belated birthday to you!! My 60th birthday is coming up in August!! We're in the 60's club together!! 🎉 I am always so excited for your new videos, as it's like we're girlfriends getting together for coffee, or cocktails, to chat about our new sewing projects or finds to someday be projects!!!
Hi Viv, I’ve only just discovered your channel so am working my way through your videos. I just watched your video “what I see when I look at fabric” and am amazed at what people feel they have the right to say to you. I have found your channel so informative and helpful. I have just returned to sewing after about 20 years. I wish UA-cam had been around when I was young because I have learned so much watching various channels. I’m 64 and currently live in Australia - from the UK originally - and am into a variety of crafts. I can’t believe how many garments you make in a month, let alone in a year. I love it. Look forward to seeing more videos. THANK YOU ❤
I just watched your commentary and enjoyed it. Another trip down memory lane while you shared the Simplicity magazine from 1963. I previously viewed your UA-cam last night for the 1st time covering the 1973 Vogue patternbook, a very good UA-cam episode! What struck me on your Simplicity magazine episode was the obvious fact this magazine was a playbook from American royality back then. Jackie Kennedy was the rage during the early part of the 60s decade, the queen of style setting. Every single outfit looked like it came straight out of her closet. Every American woman wanted to wear a piillbox hat, white gloves and a short jacket/dress combo with a pearl choker necklace. I was only 8 years old then but it didn't take a rocket scientist to observe the legend of the Jackie Kennedy mystique and how American women embraced all things Jackie Kennedy! The Simplicity company didn't know it at the time of publishing, but it made a huge social commentary on the direction of American fashion thru the photographs of those outfits/patterns for the Jackie wannabes. What June Cleaver (LEAVE IT TO BEAVER TV sitcom) started with her style in the late 50s Jackie took to the next level and swept America along as the style setting fashion queen. So....that's the memories your UA-cam evoked in me today. Thanks for the great commentary once again!!!!! Carrie from the San Francisco Bay Area 🤣🐓☕🧵🪡🧶
Hi, Viv. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you both. Good to see you! Seems EVERYONE is having dental issues with implants recently. Hope all goes well for you! Excited to see some makes when ready! Trying to become interested in sewing again - or even life again. That would be nice. Blessings on your family. Have a beautiful Easter!🕊🌷
Hi Nancy! Thanks for being here. I can't imagine the pain and uphill climb you're experiencing -- know that you're in my heart. Keep going forward, even if some days feel like a snail's crawl. I'm thinking of you.
What a blast from the past was that Simplicity Magazine. The styles and models all looked or transmitted the essence of Jacqueline Kennedy, especially the pillbox hats.those boxy jackets and shift dresses flattered no one. But everyone wore them. My mother loved that look and the Chanel look. Neither of which were meant for my hourglass shape. But I so loved those monthly magazines put out by the pattern companies.
Happy anniversary Vivmom! I love seeing the pictures from the 1963 magazine. My mom used to get clothes for us from the church donations and she has made me a pink polka dot dress and matching solid pink coat from a donated adult size ensemble. (Like in your magazine). It was such a favorite of mine!!). Seeing this video brought back this special memory for me. Stay well!
I had a dental implant but never had a dental flipper! Never heard of it. You'll be fine until you get the implant👍 Yes love the French terry! Would make summer pjs or beach cover-up. You really scored on your birthday!🎉 Patterns and then the Simplicity book-very nice!!
Happy, happy birthday, and welcome to your sixties! Lots of fun in this decade. Always a treat to see you with or without teeth (heeheehee). I'm dealing with a back tooth implant -- takes 500 years for the implant to correctly graph on to your jaw. A true pain ... part of the slow healing of someone in their 60s! I can't wait for that 1970s counter catalog. I'm a dedicated sewist of Vogue and my love of that pattern company started in high school -- in the 1970s. Take your sweet time ... being 60 and all (heeheeheehee).
You’ve been missed! Hope you and Brad had a wonderful birthday! I’ll be in that group in about 10 months. Those patterns were a nice gift. I love the shoes in that book from your sister. Hope your family is doing well. Take care and God bless y’all! 😀❤️
Happy birthday to both of you🎉🎉🎉 Re the flipper, I had a dental implant and didn’t have one of these at all. I had to wait 6 months for the implant to be fixed, due to Covid! No problems at all. I hope you experience the same luck. TS
Hi Viv. I perk right up when I get notified of your videos. Was in Sinking Springs last Thursday. I mentioned you at Fabric Mart! I got some great fabric. My husband calls it my "bags of toys". Love that French Terry! Keep me in mind for that giveaway. Take care.
Well, I did it. After finding you on UA-cam and binge watching several videos I jumped in and using some yard sale fabric proceeded to make a dress. My first mistake was the pattern I picked. It was a high waist and it seems the girls have migrated south so they ended up well below the intended placement. Soooo disappointed. Hopefully my 40 something year old daughter will be able and willing to wear it. Licking my wounds and summoning courage to try again. Thanks for your inspiration.
@@sueours8150 Yes!! You did it!! It fell a little short of your vision, but that’s par for the course. You’ll do it again. Because that’s what we do. And the act of creating is worthy, good for the mind, good for the soul. Onward!💕
Very happy birthday and welcome to the 60's club. I love the Kwik Sews. What a great gift. The sewing community is great!! I once swallowed my temporary flipper while eating a handful of french fries!!! 😅
That striped French terry says, "summer bathrobe" loud and clear to me. Lightweight but loopy. Happy birthday! I am approaching my 70th. Have no idea how that is possible! Cheers to you!
Happy belated birthday. Life gets "special" sometimes. All we can do is keep swimming. Oh wow, nice score on those patterns..... and that French Terry. All my favorite colors.
Something about cover stitch machines. 2022 July, I bought a air threader does both cover stitch and serging. Didn’t open until Oct, never own one. I retired so I pick up sewing on a more steady schedule. I’m wondering why I didn’t owe one, I love it can’t live without it. Go for it, good luck and happy sewing with it.
Happy belated blessed birthday to you and your husband Viv 🎶🎈🎂🎈🎶 I love the fabric you showed to give away! Glad your back...i was concerned you wernt well❤️ Youll love your cover-stitch machine once you use it...I learned on youtube. How awesome you were blessed with all those Kwik Sews!!! Cant wait to see your makes🤗 Have a blessed day whatever you choose to do.

Your a sewing inspiration. The patterns were put in the right hands and will be fun to see what you do with them. when you decide to create with them. Love the sweet styles of the 60's. The vintage magazine and all vintage magazine lets us revisit what was and compare it to what is now. It just reminded me of the memories I spend turning pages of what was the current fashions in the world of sewing. The sewing patterns in the 60's were safe and sophisticated and it was all about the fabrics used, Happy Birthday and you are an inspiration with a fun energy.
I’m late watching this because Saturday was 10 hours in the car with hubby & the dogs from Virginia to Florida. Wow you really got some nice patterns. This last couple of months my hubby had 20 teeth pulled and has been dealing with adjusting to dentures. It has gotten a lot better but there has been some pretty rough spots along the way. Happy birthday to you & Brad.
Wish I was just 60! Happy belated birthday to both of you. On the 16th of March I had my first cataract out! Well let me tell you, better than bubble gum. I’ve worn glasses since I was in 6th grade, near sighted, I am now 74. I am now far sighted with 20/25 vision in the one eye. I am just ecstatic. The other eye is set for April 4th. I have great expectations. I could see clearly that night after the operation. I will need “readers”, but who can’t deal with that?? Another thing I can tell you, which I didn’t know, cataracts never grow back. So happy to see you and glad you’re doing well. You look wonderful.
The Telio fabrics are so beautiful and bold! I made a wispy shirt out of the same beige floral fabric you are going to use for your color blocked dress. Love it! Also, Happy Birthday!
You know what you can do with that terry fabric? Start making some burp cloths. we are the same age and our friends are all becoming grandparents. Burp cloths are a wonderful gift to send.
Happy Birthday! I graduated in 1964! I remember those fashions and in fact my neighbor made a suit for my that was awesome to wear to church. I had a 18 inch“ waist and had a hard time finding clothes that fit. Now at nearly 77 I am built like a box!
You are the same age as my sister. The fashions of that era were highly influenced by Jackie Kennedy. I remember clearly a suit similar to the cover if Viv’s magazine that she wore on her senior trip to NYC with a matching pill box hat. You kindly triggered a great memory.
What a great gift from Pam! Sorry you lost a tooth, now if only the tooth fairy would make it an easy and cheap fix, but sadly I don’t think that’s going to be easy or cheap. Fabrics are beautiful! I like that dress patter with the two similar fabrics. I can’t wait to see how that turns out. Take care and remember 60’s are sweet and sassy! 😁Welcome to the 60’s! 🎉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂 Had upper tooth pulled one space back from yours and yes had flipper. Waiting for bone to heal for implant. Three months later it’s implant day. Surgery revealed bone was soft as apple. Next took small bone from lower jaw & tried again. Nope. Ended up having to pull another tooth and have permanent bridge. Praying your heals perfectly! Love all the patterns.❤
So very nice to see you. Wishing you a 'belated' Happy Birthday. Your birthday gifts were amazing. How exciting for you. We won't hold you to the promises...sometimes life happens, and we know we will enjoy your new 'sews' when you have the time. I can't believe I gave away boxes of patterns to my church rummage sale a few years ago. Many were uncut (many were Kwick Sew) and I just loved them...they were like friends. I was working in an office at the time, found my life to be in a state of 'downsize' to an apartment, had surgery and just never had the time for the craft I get such pleasure out of doing... sewing. It is a way for me to expand on my creativity. Sometimes the projects are wonderful... sometimes they are failures but every time I learn something. Looking forward to seeing you again...
I'm glad that Candace was able to fix your sideways video! I had grand plans for March and then decided to play with stripe direction on a simple knit top-had to ask my sweetheart for help with cutting the front on the bias and couldn't believe he reminded me not to forget to add seam allowance!? Happy sewing, Viv!
Happy belated Birthday. I saw your celebration pics and was so happy. Today (April Fools Day) is my 57th birthday. I have lost three of my four wisdom teeth in the last two years. Ugggg I wish you all the best. I always click on your video as soon as I see them pop up. ❤
Happy Birthday!!! So glad you had a wonderful time! And this is a first! I had never heard of a tooth “flipper” until I watched your video! I assume it’s just a spacer. But I would be just like you - I’m sure I would hate it! Ha! BTW, I lost the same tooth you did several years ago, but I settled for a bridge, which is wonderful! My husband had implants last year for all his lower teeth. For him it was a 9-month procedure as they had to remove extra bone before putting the implants in - and every surgery requires, as you know, 3 months of healing. But he loves them! Anyway, thank you for my “Vivmom Fix”! Sooo happy to see this! And really looking forward to the pattern book!!!
Sharron and Viv - i also have that same tooth missing - Viv - ya gotta use that flipper to keep the space right - your teeth could shift. - mine do a bit but I got a "spider" - it's like the flipper but for permanent use and it has metal prongs that hold on to the tooth next door. it works well for me - i didn't want to get the implant. i also love the early sixties fashion and style . i'm just a few months older then you - happy birthday
@@mliz Thanks - and Sharron, thank you too! This isn't' my first "implant rodeo" but it IS my first flipper. Sheesh, whatever happened to a good old temporary crown? I'm in the clear from my surgeon to not wear it, and he's my ultimate favorite doctor. Seems rather insane to have a favorite dental surgeon, but Lord knows I'm no stranger to him (unfortunately.)
Happy belated Birthday to you and Brad! 🎂🎂 Viv have you been to Hobby Lobby lately? They have changed their layout in the sewing area again. Not happy with how they have this second row of fabric in back of the first row on the floor fixtures. The girls who work there aren’t happy either because it’s difficult putting them back. Another thing is they never have pattern sales 😢 I did notice they have some nice fabric such as linen and rayon challis so that’s a plus at least.
I’ll have to check it out, Barbara. They keep minimizing garment sewing, it seems. No more pattern sales, that’s for sure. It’s a loss! I rarely even go into the store anymore...I can’t be the only one, can I?
Happy Birthday! I’ve done the implant in about the same area. My dentist didn’t say a word about a flipper. There was no shifting and I think the implant post helps to maintain the space. I’m very happy with mine.
I do love the striped French terry.. I also have a flipper, only my hole i my head is in the front, must wear it when out. Happy belated Birthday to you and Brad.
Dental Implants--my youngest child had an implant. It was highly suggested by his dentist instead of a bridge. We went through the bone craft, the post and then the tooth. It was fine until it failed about 3 years later. He had to go through the whole thing again. Three years later, it failed. Since then, I have learned that just over 80% fail! Also, if you have metal allergies, it is a whole other set of problems. My son will now have to have the post removed and get a bridge, which should have happened in the beginning. Sorry to be so down on the Implants, but I wish we had known these things in the beginning.
Oh rats, Margaret, that's awful for your son! I have two implants that are wonderful, but I did have one fail. The pain was monstrous, the surgeon was perplexed, and he finally just took it out. (No refund, however, LOL) I sure hope the bridge works out for your son!
Welcome back Viv. Many happy returns to you both, trust me, the 60's are painless and much better than the alternative......lol. I would love to be considered for the beautiful French Terry please. Just my colours.
Wow, I love that French terry!! I'll take it!

I am so happy for you, Florence!! Yay for new & improved vision!!
Happy Belated Birthday Viv!!!😊🇨🇦
So glad to see you back on You Tube.. Don't worry about how much you get done. Just take things as they come and relax, ❤🙏❤
Hope you had a Happy Birthday!. I turn 60 in August. My Class of '81 is going to have a get together for turning 60 this year.
Yay, class of 81!! Have fun Jill!
I graduated in 1961.
Me too.
I graduated high school in ‘63. I’m 77 and still look like I’m in my 60’s and feel like it too! Happy 60 th to you.
I love your vlog! And I would love the French Terry, too. ❤
The yellow suit in the simplicity book reminds me of queen elizabeth.
Happy Birthday to you (singiing) Happy Birthday to you !!! And many, many more !!
Happy belated birthday Viv, it’s so good to see you!!! ❤❤Judy❤❤
Happy Birthday!! WOW! Your 60th was SO COOL!!
Oh Joyce, that sounds terrible! I'm sorry for your woes. These teeth...Lord have mercy on us!!
I would love the fabric! I'm looking forward to your makes video.
Happy birthday to you both. I am March 22. Like you, very behind on my sewing. Got to get in gear. Love the fabric and the patterns.
Wow what a score! Happy belated birthday!
Happy belated Birthday. I saw your celebration pics and was so happy. Today (April Fools Day) is my 57th birthday. I have lost three of my four wisdom teeth in the last two years. Ugggg I wish you all the best. I always click on your video as soon as I see them pop up. ❤
happy birthday! glad to see you. great book and fabric.
Happy Birthday you deserve a break. Would live your fabric take. Great Haul
Happy Birthday! 🎉 Hope all goes well with your dental work. Thanks for the fabric give away.
Happy Birthday! I’ve done the implant in about the same area. My dentist didn’t say a word about a flipper. There was no shifting and I think the implant post helps to maintain the space. I’m very happy with mine.
I will be 60 this year too !!
Beautiful fabric!
Oh and the YT video is just great! Belated happy bday🎉 !!
I too like Kwik Sew patterns.
I like your birthday simplicity magazine.
Happy Birthday! 🎉 Kwik Sew patterns are great. What a nice gift. The challis prints are gorgeous.
Happy Birthday to both of you! You are not getting long in the tooth when there's no tooth! More 🎂!!
Happy birthday! Mine is tomorrow! I love the french terry. You are very generous giving it away. Beautiful rayons!
Love the French Terry -would put it to good use for a lightweight sweatshirt. Glad your back, missed you -you make me laugh!
Welcome back Viv. Many happy returns to you both, trust me, the 60's are painless and much better than the alternative......lol. I would love to be considered for the beautiful French Terry please. Just my colours.
