  • Hey All, welcome to episode 16 of our RAM Promaster 2500 van build/conversion series. This is such an exciting day. Today we will take on the framing of our shower. This is a huge pivotal point for us as the shower is really anchor point for everything else in the van. Once the shower is in place, the benches and cabinets all get installed around it.
    Our first thought was to frame the shower using ¾” plywood walls but, after not being able to figure out where we’d hide the plumbing, we chose to go with 2x3” framed walls….and we’re really glad we did. The walls are super solid….and the cavity in the wall gives us a place to install both plumbing and electrical runs. We thought that was worth the few inches lost in living space.
    We will take you through all the steps we took in planning and framing the shower….and some of the frustrations we ran into. And if we can do it, YOU can do it .
    If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below, and please give a thumbs-up if you enjoyed this video and found in helpful to you. Subscribe to our channel to follow along on our entire van build series.
    Blessings to you 

    Dude I'm building out a promaster 2500 2021 have 95% of the framing done. I was thinking of doing something like this and this video really helped. I'm also around the Atlanta area.

      That is awesome.....We are actually working on putting up the Kerdi Board on it this week. That sounds pretty lame seeing that we framed it a year ago....but its about the fastest we could do...

    I been watching van videos and making some for 10 years. Your work is best I have ever seen. I have an Econoline now but might buy a 136 Promaster. Thanks so much.

    I love your videos I'm getting a lot of great ideas from them, question what is the size of your shower pan?

      Hi. Our is 24x32. It would have been nice to have a larger shower but everything is a tradeoff. Just be sure to get one that has a hole in the right place....you;ll need to scoot under the van to check.

    Is the spacing for the subfloor firing strips consistent with that shower tub? Meaning - is there standard spacing that guarantees I’ll screw the shower pan directly into the strips?

    Is your shower pan 24"x 36" and where did you purchase it?

    • @marctania2349
      @marctania2349  2 роки тому

      Hi Leo, thanks for watching. The shower pan is actually 32 x 24. We found it at some site on eBay. I can look it up later tonight and get back to you about it.

      Leo, The shower pan we bought is this one (Better Bath RV Shower Pan - Front Drain - 32-1/8" Long x 24" Wide - White). It works well with the framing members under the Promaster....but be sure of the install spot. If we had gone a couple inches farther towards the front of the van, we would have hit a support cross beam underneath.
