  • Hey Friends, welcome to episode 17 of our RAM Promaster 2500 van build/conversion series. It’s finally time to move towards the electrical system of the van. And we start by installing a 30A shore power inlet, so that we can maximize our electricity intake while at RV parks.
As with many of our projects, we ran into a little problem with this…after not planning the location of the inlet well enough. Not sure how we managed to mess It up, but we did. And we shamefully admit it .
We will take you through all the steps we took in planning and installing the inlet. And if we can do it, YOU can do it .
If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below, and please give a thumbs-up if you enjoyed this video and found in helpful to you. Subscribe to our channel to follow along on our entire van build series.
    Blessings to you 

Thank you for the awesome video. You can always have another plug in from the drivers side but still keep that one by the door. It makes the van more versatile. I am sure there will be many situations where you’d need that one 🥳👍 love it!

Hi Johnny, that is a great idea…to install another on the other side. We are in Death Valley right now and it’s obvious that they are typically on the drivers side …..at least that’s what we see here. I would think, with 2 engineering degrees, I would be smart enough to not make such a mistake …..but we live and learn. Thanks so much for watching and for the constructive feedback.

Hello again, I just remembered a friend of mine who has one of those on both sides of the RV. We do motorcycle activities at tracks. So the driver’s side he uses it to get power into the van, while the passengers side is in front of our motorcycles and we need it to get power for many purposes for the motorcycles all week long. Stay happy you’ve a got a great van 🚐

Wow…never would have considered that. There are certainly opportunities to feed power out the passenger side and pull power from the drivers side. FANTASTIC idea. And Thank You again

Another great, inspirational video. Look on the positive side. At least you'll never drive away with the shore power still connected. If it was on the other side, there's always a chance you'll forget to check before hitting the road.

Yeah, just curious as to why you picked the passenger side. Almost all RV's and campgrounds are designed for shore power on the driver's side. Also, think about rubber washer on the outside and nylon inserted lock nuts for the inside fastening. It will prevent loosening over time. Nicely done.

Hi. Thanks for watching. We caught our mistake about 6 hours too late. But we are going to install another on the driver side. The rubber washer and lock nut are great ideas that we will certainly use on the next one. Thank you again,

Dooh. Made a boo-boo. Did you not hear me yelling at you to stop when you were putting the hole in the wrong side. I yelled and yelled but you kept Drilling. I would leave it and just put another one on other side.

Not a very good idea , the plug in camping are driver side and what happens when you are plugged and full open the sliding door 😉

Hi….As in the video, not sure if you watched it…..we caught our mistake and we recommended viewers to use the drivers side or the back. We will go ahead and update the thumbnail to make the mistake obvious for the pic too. Thanks for the feedback.
