- I went on Space Mountain on Christmas night, 7:37 PM, 1996.
I videotaped Space Mountain change colors while in line and taped Starcade a enormous video arcade.
They show a video about the space program while you wait in line and then we get in and we see a robot working while you board your spaceship.
Then you launch into the blackness of space but with the original soundtrack!
It is the whole ride but most of it is a black screen but you can hear what there soundtrack sounded like in 1996! - Розваги
A POV of the original Space Mountain with the soundtrack working?! My life is complete lol! :-)
Yes.
The FedEx robot! Thank you!
You're welcome.
1996 was the year they added the soundtrack to the ride. In the later years, practically none of the on ride speakers worked, so catching it in the later years was rare.
The default version of the ride continued.
That footage of the old Starcade made me reallllly miss old Disney
Commander Mallander
when it wasn’t always crowded
Me too
The old soundtrack still syncs with the new track layout. Just go on the ride now with earbuds and an ipod, while listening to the old 1996 soundtrack. Try it , it works!
Thats very cool to know, thanks!
It's because they didn't change the layout. They just replaced the tracks.
They should do a limited time run with the old music.
I remember on one of the old park albums they had both the new and old soundtracks, with the old one being listed as the “daytime” track. So I think maybe they had a plan to switch the audio depending on time of day, but that never happened.
Ha, genius!
I think this version is better than the new one, It had a kind of dark and cold atmosphere and the Soundtrack was fitting perfectly
@Jorge Vila: It sounds like Surf-music, because it was recorded by "The king of the surf guitar".
We get this.
Wow finally old Space Mountain With Music clear.
A POV with undubbed soundtrack!
Thank you so much for this! Brings back so many memories as a kid!
Your welcome Princess Ness!
I kind of like a bit more the 1996 music over the new one, I like the mix betwen Space-alien enconter style whit Surfing music.
I was 12 around that time, good old 90s. :D
I like that.
The attraction lost the Dick Dale soundtrack when it closed in 2003 for its remodel.
Thats very cool, I like because you travel in space too!
so this is what it was like in the olden days
I saw only a little more than that when, I went into space mountain back in 1996. But it's still cool.
Thank Daniel for your comment!
Sure why not!
We had a "SAS: Let's Go to Disneyland Paris" growing up and now noticed how much they used footage from Disneyland Resort and just slap it on the video pretending it to Disneyland Paris with re-voiced dubbing. The original "Space Mountain" at DP was a complete different ride to this. By the way, I wonder if my parents went on this when they went in the 80s?
Cool video, Eric!
By the way, did you know that Space Mountain has been changed to...Hyperspace Mountain?
+Sean Murray Yes I did know.
I saw a low light video of it on UA-cam and it looked awesome!
Have you seen the video of the new Hyperspace Mountain?
MrDisneyfanman I believe I did.
:)
It’s back to normal again, thankfully.
@briancalifornia1 Very interesting, do you know what years it was closed?
@briancalifornia1 Really? I didn't know that.
Yeah the new music is a lot better
I personally love them both, as well as the other classic sound effects in this video
@@benjaminroberson1924 this was two years ago, that changed and I actually am more lenient towards the older one now lol
Don't know why, anybody out there know?
I miss this version of Space Mountain. The one now sucks in comparison
disneylanddude05 no. I just like the music a lot in this one, but the new one is still great.
I strongly disagree.
This is the Space Mountain I do remember!!! Disney ruined this ride with a 2003-2005 refurbishment. This ride will never be the same.
Tupac was there a few months earlier.
Why did they remodel :(?!?!
It was going to look severely outdated, plus the tracks were found unstable, so they had to be replaced.
The tracks were very unstable
@@brianna_lynch This was because the on-board audio system added to the ride in 1996 put a ton of extra weight on the trains, for which the existing track and supports in the mountain were not designed for.
@@andrewschannel4259 oh interesting!
@@brianna_lynch When they suddenly closed Disneyland's Space Mountain in April 2003, it was literally days away from experiencing a major structural failure.
