Before this channel ever existed, I was an atheist with a car that had 1 station that my antenna would pick up and that station was air1. I would listen to Christian Alternative Rock and ignore the lyrics to jam out to awesome rock tones and catchy drums. That's how I was introduced to Switchfoot. While revisiting some of their older music, UA-cam suggested this collaboration between Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and Lauren Daigle. This sounded like a great idea so we will explore this song together in this reaction video! Enjoy!

Bio: Leonardo Torres was raised Catholic and left the church after being threatened to be kicked out for asking questions about the bible concerning his grandfather's death. He identified as an Atheist for 12 years and spent that time actively arguing with anyone who brought up religion. At age 30, he had a strong encounter with God that made him drop his Atheist title and became a free follower of GOD who he calls, "The Great Spirit". Taking God seriously and following Him wherever He leads him, Leonardo was led to start this UA-cam Channel, reacting to music as a "Non-Christian" musician reviewing Christian music. Through the music and the stories he began to learn more about Christ and considers himself a Student of Christ. Having been lost and now found, this channel is like a lost and found for lost sheep, Leonardo's goal is to create a safe space where God can find those who are yearning for Him.
Leonardo wants to remind followers of Christ to love one another as they were commanded. He is a man on a mission to spread the love of God to everyone that comes to this channel. Whether you come to stay or are just passing by, we pray your soul is touched by The Holy Spirit and that you are changed forever! It's hard not to think of Simon's "Don't let me go," scene at the end of The Chosen Season 3. Someone should do a music video of this song with Simon's character arc surrounding Jesus.

One of my top 3 favorite songs ever, but I really do enjoy the full instrumental version as well as this one. Jon Foreman is an absolute gem and my very favorite artist/lyricist. He gave me the most incredible experience of my life by letting me sing this with him at a Switchfoot VIP. Lauren and Jon were MEANT to sing together. “A place called earth” is another beautiful song that they did together. You should check it out :) Great review! Couldn’t agree more!
I have all 15 Switchfoot albums and this is the song I listen to most. The original track of “Where the light shines through” album is sooo dynamic. Can’t get enough. Great review!

Jon is a master at playing various instruments. If you haven't heard his solo album series named after the seasons, check it out. He plays all the instruments.
When I hear "fear has been your currency" I think of a situation in you're life where there's been constant fear that you haven't been able to give to God.

You mentioned Lauren Daigle Surrender to the song, but I think she is surrendering to God in those moments which is why we feel the passion in her voice because she is not only singing the lyrics be communicating with God in those moments. God gave them these talents and they are using them to bring Glory to His name (those are my thoughts at least)

This is an OLD worship song, one I grew up listening to since I was a very little girl. It is one of my favorite worship songs still to this day, & I hold it dear to my heart. Idk if uve heard it before or not, but i thought u might like it as well :) 🥰

It’s not that old it was written less than 8 years ago, he wrote it for his mum when she was going thru a hard time, at least that’s what he told us when we seen them live in Belfast
Ok, so I greatly prefer the original to this. Stylistically Lauren, while great vocalist especially in the vintage, pop standard type of tracks, didn't compliment this style as much as one might hope given her bonefides. Its still GOOD, its just, for me, does not outshine the original release.
Now one MUST, as soon as possible, get Ellie Holcomb - "Constellations" on. I stake my reputation on it.
