- (1967) Maggie is concerned about the effect that Laura is having on her father. David shows Laura a picture he has drawn of the phoenix and shows her the Old House. Laura begins to reveal a darker motivation behind her return and her plans to take David far away.

The confrontation between Josette and Laura was a good sequence. As an admirer of Josette, Vicky would then take up the challenge against Laura.
Love Maggie's joke about Josette teaching David considering what she does later in the show. Speaking of which, I'm confused about how Josette even knows about Laura. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil future storylines.
Laura nods to the glowing portrait of Josette in a manner that they did know each other at some point. However, in the 1795 story line, Laura was nowhere to be found. Since both women reincarnated at later times, they must have crossed paths at some point.
atlantic1119 There is that possibility. But in 1897 Barnabas reveals that Jeramiah was actually married to Laura briefly while Barnabas was still a young boy. That would have had to happen before Josette arrives for her intended wedding to Barnabas. Sooooo Laura and Josette just missed meeting each other by at least two decades.
Wow, what a coincidence, I just read about Laura being the first wife of Jeremiah! (I forgot that was mentioned in the 1897 sequence). Laura recalled a young Barnabas (her nephew by marriage) as a "sad eyed" boy following her around because he had a crush. But, yikes, Barnabas grew up awfully fast in time to become engaged to Josette, who arrived right after Laura! :D
Obviously, Laura is not really scared of either the Old House or the ghosts, at least not for conventional reasons. As a phoenix, and (as we learn in later episodes) as someone with a long history with the Collins family, she clearly remembers the Old House, and had probably been in it during its better days. Is she afraid that the ghosts, who seem to be protecting David, will put a wrench into her own plans to abduct him?

I agree, Sparky. Vicki couldn't connect the dots with a 5-year-old's connect the dot coloring book.

Vicky, Vicky Vicky..... when are you going to buy a vowel & get a clue? She's face to face with a portrait of Laura with wings surrounded by flames, but does it ring any bells? Nope, not her. She must be a Collins because she's just as oblivious as the rest of them up at the mansion.
Well, in seances, the spirit does not actually appear. As for Vicky, she is such a paradox. She is so gutsy when it comes to standing up to people like Laura and Angelique, but at the same time, she CAN be clueless!

kenda ellsworth To be fair, she can see how her father is being affected by all these recent events, and she wants to learn why. At this point, Maggie is definitely being the most perceptive with regard to Laura, who has just about pulled the wool over the eyes of everyone else.

Lol! Again david being morbid! Best part of the story was when the phoenix was burning to death! Wonderful! Is he to add this to his funeral game ? I was a nanny when I was in my very eary 20s while in university ..I would loved having david under my charge! I would have told him to stop being so morbid ..but would have a nice giggle what he was saying to me.
I do not find laura attractive at all...but david on the other hand..I know now why i had such a crush on him in 67 and i was 9 too...he is adorable, adorable, adorable
kenda ellsworth .... Really? I think Laura is hot (okay, bad joke), no really. I think she's very attractive. I love the way she delivers her lines, too.
kenda ellsworth Laura is nice looking. She's tall and she has a set of legs that just won't quit. I like the scenes where she has a skirt on showing her rockin' long legs. (But I am a guy, though).
I think Laura is pretty. I find Carolyn over-rated.

Okay, Laura, you are from Arizona, and this is the fourth different winter coat I have seen you wear. First, why do you have so many winter coats when you were living in Arizona? Second, how did you bring all of them when you only had one suitcase? :D

I was in Arizona and while some parts were very warm - they do have winter in some parts - you can ski and swim within 50 miles in the state :S
Very true, but people who live in the Northeast do not own as many coats as Laura. :D
