everyone else: uses professional music apps like FL studio or Abelton.
    me : uses garageband lmao.
Also, I'm not a pro and I usually make songs for fun. (really don't care whether they're finished or not)
But how I make melodies is pretty Bruh, cheating, and VERY unprofessional.
I make melodies from making random chords that sound good.
Copy and paste the chord progression, delete some notes, change it a bit, including the notes and if it sounds good, then done! melodies OMFG. XD
edit: I have no difficulties making drum patterns whatsoever, that's like the easier thing to make, ever.

Hi, I'm using an interface to record a 4 instrument album (vocals, bass, guitar, drum machine) and I've got the basics of Abelton down, since I've been using tutorials like this one and I took a course on DIY home recording. The only real trouble I've had is with audio input levels. I know roughly how loud I want my instruments to be, but the levels are only displayed on Abelton, not the interface. When I test the volume of my instrument (ex guitar) with playback (ex drums), I get the volume I need, but enabling recording (so I can hear my guitar) turns the levels display gray, and after recording I either get distortion or can't hear my instrument during playback. Could you please offer some tips/instructions or refer me to someone who can? Regards, Hazel Jane
