Ableton Live Lite for Beginners! Ableton live is an extremely powerful music production software, and Lite is a basic edition of Ableton that can let you create music with ease. However as someone without any experience or prior knowledge, this software can be intimidating. The goal of this video is to teach beginners how to use Ableton Lite to make music - feel free to join my official Discord server if you have any unanswered questions or just want to chat with other cool people! discordapp.com/invite/ek7Rf9X
Is it mostly for repetitive techno (now called EDM) music? Or can one create proper guitar and piano and other types of sounds using "loops" or inserts? Thanks.
To all you other youtubers out there that are trying to teach something, THIS IS HOW YOU TEACH!!! No stupid music in the background that's destracting and you can actually see the screen. GREAT JOB!!!! I learned alot!!!!!
Yes - I'd like to STRANGLE the idiot who introduced the idea of using totally unnecessary and distracting background "music" during a tutorial which has nothing to do with a music video.
sorry bud but there's an extremely low piano lofi sounding tune in the background. but I totally agree this is straight to the point and Fresh. He is dope 100%
anime_fight Tanjiro_the_demon_slayer_ you have to create an Account to use the 30 Days Demo, if you don’t have an Account you can use ableton but you can’t save and export
Agreed. I ended up here after watching Mary Spender learn to use Ableton. This is very informative. I'm exclusively a Reaper user, but I might give this a try.
This is the first time I actually watched a tutorial on ableton and didn’t get bored and I understood everything too... even though you didn’t cover up literally EVERYTHING it helped A LOT I mean it thanks a lot.
It's incredibly frustrating to have this urge to create, and have ideas overflowing but seeing how much you have to learn. At the same time, it's empowering, because there's always something good at the end of effort, hard work, and putting in the time to learn things right. Thank you for the video, excellent job putting it together!
God I love UA-cam. I'm never gonna have to read a manual again. A quick google search and you've got a charismatic, knowledgeable person willing to spoon feed you everything you need to know.
I remember trying to get into launchpadding 3 years ago... huge mistake. So fucking hard to learn. Then I came back to it a year or two later, and my man had made the worlds first comprehensive tutorial. This channel is still massively underrated and has some crazy production value!
This is the first music software video that I've watched from beginning to end and actually fully understood. I'm a total novice and really want to enter the world of music making and production. I really want to get a pad based controller, of which some seem to come with this software package. I have FL Studio 20, but it is a minefield and I'm just so confused using it. This seems like a better window in... thank you so much and I will check out all your other videos too! :-)
i got Ableton lite with my arturia mkII and dude you saved me so many hours of stupidity (coming from someone who's only ever used logic) bless ur soul sir you are doing the lords work lol
I have bought Ableton Live Intro today! Now I can put up to 16 tracks and that is more than enough for background music and sound effects for my future videos.
This is the BEST tutorial I have ever seen! Not only for Ableton Live Lite but also in general! Very clear instructions, just what the beginner needs to know and offering a really good overview over the functions! Thanks alot!
I struggled a lot trying to make some sense of Ableton Live Lite on my own and your tutorial has done for me what no amount of noodling around solo could do. Thank you! I'm a fan!
Well, I just ordered a MIDI controller that comes with Live Lite and was disappointed that I could not find some introduction to Lite specifically :D coincidence? I think not..
Holy fuck, thankyou. Idk why others find it hard to keep it this simple and informative. You didnt skip any steps you explained everything perfectly. Legenddddd
I felt like I didn't want to spend this long learning everything... but I am SO glad I did. It was completely understandable and easy to follow and shed a light on a lot of things I didn't know. Thank you!
Exactly what I needed a simple explanation of what these things are. Some of us know what they are but didn't know where they were on the Ableton software. Great job.
Thanks for teaching this I was searching a tutorial of how to make music in ableton live lite and this helped A LOT. I could make a decent music in 2 hours cause it took time but I understood it so well Again thanks a million
I got Lite with my Christmas present and was only fluent in Mixcraft, so seeing the Ableton setup was a bit of a shock. Thank you for showing me it's not nearly as bad as it looks
Just ordered a minilab mk2 so I'm preparing my brain by watching UA-cam videos. After watching this video I have no anxiety about starting with Ableton Live lite. I wish all tutorials with that's well done. Excellent work my dude 👌
This is a great tutorial. I got Ableton live lite with my focusrite interface and even after using many DAWS for years I was having some trouble just winging it. I really like the clip view that allows you to create scenes that you can then arrange into song... that's what got my interest in learning this software. After a couple of days and referring back to this tutorial I've been able to understand it pretty well. I kind of wish that when you select a drum that it would load a midi pattern for you that you could use or edit if you wanted to. As a guitarist I don't want to spend a ton of time editing midi drums and I find playing the drums on my interface its difficult to get them timed out right and the loops are always off and require trimming/editing etc
i’m a logic pro x user and i’m getting some gear that comes with ableton - i really wanna learn more but they’re so different! thanks for the tutorial! really helping me learn 😊
The best tutorial on Ableton live lite that i've seen so far, excellent explanation and to detail. Some tutorial videos are just way to fast for beginners which makes even the basics hard to grasp but this one was perfect so thanks for sharing and caring keep up the great work. It's a whole different world from FL Studio and it sounds great without even mastering or mixing.
This tutorial was amazing. The best one on youtube. Please do some videos that are a little bit more advanced! Thank you. I subbed because of these tutorials.
Saw this video a year ago when I was looking to get an audio interface for my guitar, finally got an interface today and I'm back again. Thanks man this was legit
Very helpful video! It totally got me on my feet for recording my own music! My only problem is when (6:35) I click on the different instrument sounds, it doesn't preview them. If I drag them into the MIDI box, they will play, but I can't preview the different sounds before choosing them :( EDIT: Already fixed it, lol. If its happening to you, just click the headphones icon at the bottom left of the screen in the same box that you choose the sounds from.
8:35 loops don't auto play 9:11 I should be able to drag sound in ad press play. 9:46 I dont have all those instruments in my version 10:28 still doesnt know which scene to play..oh man!! I am new but quite dissapointed and overwhealmed. I used ableton in the distant past and was just able to grab a sound / groove that I liked, and drag it over to session view, drop and hit play. This makes it more difficult to make music I feel. I still have to input notes manually, why do they have sounds that are composed loops then in the sounds folder? Is there a way to configure abelton so it can simply be a loop player? If not, can you recommend other looping programs that have a library of grooves loops?
Studio one is pretty easy to use. Check it out. Can buy it with presonus equipment. You get the artest studio one version. But abelton gets easier to use as you just play around with things.
Rakesh Gonsalves thanks for the reply. I have tried ‘playing around with things’ several times and loops don’t play. Even the guy in this video I was having problems. So if the designers can’t make something that is useable or takes a lot of extra steps it becomes cumbersome.. does anyone else have suggestions on how to just get Abelton to play these loops so you can create music?

For People who didnt read what the versions can do like me. I have a cool tip.If you want to use more Sounds you can use the Instrument rack to play more Sounds at once. Now if you want some Sounds to fade in or out you can also Control them separate from Another. But it gets cluttered very fast.
Nice, thanks. Been a Studio One user for a decade. I just added Ableton to my mix and trying to get oriented around my Atom SQ. Your content is very well produced! I can play you @ 2x and your style and focus keep it very usable. Thank you.
