I like the theory: use the Magicians to speed up summoning Scrap Dragon, which destroys your Scales so you can re-summon them. But I can also see why that wouldn't really cut it against HAT, let alone against Shaddolls and BAs.
God I remember when this deck was getting hype around it. As a Scrap player at the time, I knew the cards weren't good enough to do much on their own, but I was so pleased to hear this new mechanic was going to turn them into a solid threat. Right up until it didn't lol
I didn't understand what pendulums did back when they were announced so I tried to look for a UA-cam video that showcases how they work mechanically. And funnily enough, the first video I saw was showcasing a Gate Guardian deck with Timegazer, Stargazer, and Odd-Eyes. The guy showcasing it was even hyping up the pendulum mechanic as very broken. I didn't know how serious they were. But it wasn't like the goal of the deck is to actually summon Gate Guardian. It was just showcasing how easy it is to spam LV 7 monsters via pendulum summoning. And since Dragon Rulers, Dracossack, Big Eye, etc. were still fresh in people's minds, that was a bit alarming.
my first pendulum deck was dragon ruler magicians. it had poki draco to search another copy to pendulum summon and make a rank 3 like leviathan dragon. it put more dragons in the grave and i only needed to banish to summon from grave as i could pendulum summon them if they were in my hand
Remember when people was joking around saying pendulum it's gate guardian support, since you was able to summon al gate guardian pieces easily, what a time.
Ah I remember when Pendelums were first revealed. The entire community lost their minds and it was called the end of YGO I was never as big into competitive YGO so this flew over my head. I was too busy trying to add cards to structure decks that vaguely worked, or seeing if some XYZ monster in Zexal could work in my starter deck. So seeing this was interesting. Also quick correction Odd Eyes Penedelum Dragon wasn't in the starter deck. Regular Odd Eyes Dragon was but its Penedelum variation was in Duelist Alliance.

Thanks for the explanation Although I also wouldn't blame you if that was an honest mistake, just because regular Odd Eyes to my memory, is in one episode before being transformed into its Penedelum form. Plus other protag ace monsters tend to be in the first starter decks whether those are secondary aces like Junk Warrior or Decode Talker(At least on the intended path) or main aces like Utopia or Dark Magician Although the Penedelum Magicians could be considered Yuya's secondary aces...
on dueling network there was a guy who thought me the golden ratio at the time (15 monsters 15 spells 10 trap). its ridicilous to try to build any deck those ratios nowaday let alone everything. i played that ratio from scraps to constellars to tellarknight.if it didnt work perfectly with that ratio it was a bad deck. if it could work with that ratio it was good enough to compete. and scraps were good enough. just not as a pendulum strategy
I could definitely see some synergy between Odd-Eyes and Scraps, as Odd-Eyes has several cards that pop cards you control. Might still not be enough, but there's definitely an idea there
In retrospect it definitely seems crazy how the community thought that something like a “pendulum package” would work. The way it’s being used here is just double summon with extra steps. But I definitely remember a lot of the hype being around cheating out clunky old school power houses like jinzo. And if there were people ahead of the curve who actually understood that these were pipe dreams it didn’t matter because nothing pendulums could do would ever compete with the big three from duelist alliance.
I'm so glad someone else acknowledged this deck. It completely skipped over any recognition on History of Yugioh when they got to the pendulum era and it's what endeared me to the new generation even before we got "real" pendulum decks like Qliphort.
Back when the big channels were like AznEyes, Galaticgod, SimplyUnlucky, and CyberKnight 😂 Anything they said, basically everybody in the community heard.
It's a funny idea but the obvious problem is that Scrap cards are going to be popping Scrap cards and Pendulum cards do nothing to recycle the Scrap cards.
Yep. Literally the purpose they served was to get at least 2 Scraps on the field in the same turn and then free Odd-Eyes every turn. I almost wonder why would’ve happened if they later made a specific Scrap Pendulum Monster. 🤔
