  • This one was not so easy. Maybe I choose the wrong season. The NEBDR (North East Backcountry Discovery Route). In an effort to find more 4 Wheel Camping & Overlanding trails in the NE US, I came across the NEBDR. This is One of Thirteen BDR routes across the US. They were created by a group of Adventure Motorcyclist through a Non-Profit organization called Backroad Discovery Routes (RideBDR.com) Ride. This 8 section 1300 mile in the NE US is On Road and Off Road. The question is how much of this could be safely completed in a Small/Medium sized 4x4? Well after now completing Section 1 & Section 2 and I am ready to continue on to Section 3 from Copake Falls, NY to Readsboro, VT. Join me as I continue on this journey.

    Hi John, great series. Thanks for documenting your overland travels in the northeast. As a fellow jeep overlander based in lower NY state, I know the struggle of finding dispersed camping around here. Subbed and will check out your other videos! Jim

    Excellent series. Watched all parts without any boredom. You provided education, awesome cinematography and Scout. Short and engaging scenes. Only disadvantage goes to the next one I might be watching if not as good as your presentation. Bravo. Glad you did this one and thank you.

    Wow great discovery! I have been looking for overlanding routes and this one starts right outside of where I live “Binghamton NY”. Thanks for posting this. If interested I would highly recommend Bald Eagle State Forest for great overlanding and Jeep camping.

      @everythingoutdoorsandjeeps Thanks for watching and subscribing. These trails are a lot of fun and honestly not that difficult. Truly makes for a great adventure as the Spring Leaves and green grass start to bloom. Appreciate you also sharing the Bald Eagle State Forest recommendation. I see this is also not to far from one of my PA favorites at Boulder Field State Park. TY, I am always looking for a new discovery. Enjoy the ride. JK

    Another great video, John! As frustrating as those gates were, clearing the tree was good of you. Will you explore more in the closed-off area after the season "begins"? Thanks for bringing us along. I look forward to further adventures!

      Thanks Ken. Appreciate you watching. I fully expect to head back in May as many people have recommended with the state trail gates closed until May 1. I hope to share some other trips, that I unfortunately don’t have planned yet. More to explore. 😎

      @MrSliim280 I am hoping to squeeze a trip in this fall to complete sections 4&5. I have heard great things about specifically section 4. Curious as well how 4 wheels will get down some of those trails? Appreciate you watching and subscribing. Enjoy your Fall.

    So Today We left our little piece of property in Summit NY and did a section of section 2 from Prattville up through burnt Rossman forest and loop back to rt. 30. Now where hooked and making plans to complete all of section 2. I must say the leaves are just about gone for the most part and ponds and creeks are very low.

      @@StormKingExpedition I stand corrected, the majority of maple and ash leaves were off already. And definitely not as much color when you get below Burnt- Rossman forest area. Thanks again for great videos that helped get my butt on the trails!

    Thumb down for promoting a motorcycle route to 4 wheelers. These routes are created by motorcyclists 4 motorcyclists

    • @StormKingExpedition
      @StormKingExpedition  6 місяців тому

      @pl5861 I as a fellow 2 wheeler understand your thoughts, but the fact is that 99.9% of the route is public roads designed for both 2 as well as 4 wheels. When you live in the NE US, you have slim pickings to begin with, it’s nice to know we have something. This route was more 4 wheels before it became a BDR and many of the communities that are along this route desperately can use some additional tourism. I am simply promoting the opportunity to explore.

    • @gonzalosuarez9212

      Agree, these are public roads... not exclusive to motorcyclists...

      As a cyclist I fucking hate 4 and 2 wheel assholes that destroy these ancient ways. Especially the class 4 stuff in VT. The erosion and carnage you selfish fuckheads create is jaw dropping. I can’t wait till VT starts gating class 4 roads. There, I said it.

  • @W2IRT

    WAAAAY too early in the season to do that route, unfortunately. Much of section 4 won't open until May 1st. As of the day I'm writing this (Friday, March 22, 2024) central VT is looking at between 10 and 24" of new snow this coming weekend.

    • @StormKingExpedition
      @StormKingExpedition  6 місяців тому +1

      @W2IRT I hear ya! Ugh! On the snow. I fully expected closures in the winter, but was a little surprised of so many with gates. In NY they would occasionally have a sign, but no gates. I still got in my little adventure. I cannot wait until May! Thanks for watching and hope to maybe see you out on the trails.
