Great video, and thank you Kyle! I feel relieved to see that my Africa Twin was not the only one to take a tumble on that expert section. I made it to where it gets steep and the same thing happened to me. On top of Bridger Peak my side stand sunk into the ground and got a nasty bend in it when the bike tipped over. It was useless the rest of the trip, and has since been replaced with a Camel Toe. Looking forward to the next installment of this series. It’s bringing back some great memories from last fall. Keep them coming, your videos are the best out there.
I can only hope to one day make it out to WY to ride the route. Thanks for taking us along and sharing the journey! Looking forward to the next episode, for sure!
“Hopefully, this storm blows through,” says Kyle while the camera pans past the gas station sign Kum and Go stopping for a clip of Daniel bagging up. Too funny! Fantastic storytelling! Quite a bummer about your peg but you solved it and carried on. Stunning scenery in Wyoming. Muddy side down 🤟🏼
Thanks for watching it. More to come! Should have the next episode out soon. If you havent yet, subscribe and click the notification bell to know when it is released.
First video that I have watched and job well done. I have been riding in the trails for 35 years on motorbikes and mountain bikes. So this observation that I am about to make is based solely on this video without knowing your experience. From what I just watched I believe you are getting tunnel vision on the obstacles in front of you. See the obstacle that needs to be avoided then pick your line around it and don't look back at the obstacle. I hope this helps, again without knowing your experience. All that being said I am not trying to take away from the difficulty of the trail.
Thanks for the wonderful video, and a HUGE thanks for not ruining it with crappy background music. I don't know why some people are compelled to add annoying background music throughout their videos. The into, outro, and some carefully chosen and judiciously sprinkled throughout, not too bad.
Very enjoyable. My Son and I did it north to south late August. Section 5 was fun. Beaver Rim is forever long. A few crashes and plugged tire. Great to see your experience and look forward to next one. We took it a bit slower. Series @jrdepew

Quick tip on the flashing LED. if you can, switch out the Hz frequency on the camera. Had problems at work for a vision-system and it fixed it from flashing to no-flashing. Modern lights cuts the power wave-curve to be more effective which messes with shutterspeed of cameras. Switching frequency on camera can eliminate it.

Great video! Glad to see you didn’t get hurt when you went down. I kept thinking the peg repair would let go at a bad time. Can you share your thoughts about the 3d mesh seat cover? I am thinking about trying to find one for my Tiger 900.
It’s the best comfort mod I’ve added. Keeps you from getting hotspots on hot days and then also allows water to run between you and the seat on rainy days so you’re not sitting there with a wet seat. You wouldn’t think it would make a difference, but you can literally feel the air between you and the seat, when moving down the road. It’s worth every penny

I first thought something was wrong but after sending them back to ohlins for inspection they say that is how they are designed. They should have put a dampener in the top, but they say it is to allow for maximum travel.

9:46 you didn't hit mud bud, you went over a slanted smooth rock and it pushed your front wheel to the left. Pick better lines or stand on your bike to better stabilize your bike. Happy riding!

you guys got balls i ride a yzf 450 moto trail desert etc have much respect for you taking such large bikes on some serious rocky terrain which i like but riding a 240 ib bike compared to your bike with all the equipment u must be pushing 400 plus is a whole nother level of riding reminds me of the 7days of Baja we left with 85 guys and rolled into Cabo San Lucas with 40 plus riders 0n day seven im 62 now still do a little moto and single track nowadays they got a different bike for any type of terrain stay safe will keep watching
Yeah I enjoy the challenge of getting these big bikes into places most people would go. the Honda weights near 575lbs with all the gear and the BMW is pushing 650lbs. These bikes are more capable than what people think. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
I just do not understand why riders insist on taking these heavy twin cylinder bikes off-road. I have a KTM 690 and rode with a fellow from New Zealand on an African twin (1000). When he went down after a water crossing, his leg was trapped and I couldn't save him. We, fortunately, had some cartel people come by to lift his bike off him. That being said, He made it all the way to Patagonia, before COVID stopped his RoTW adventure. two years later he went up Africa, so I am probably full of shit. It's good to be young and strong. (not me)
Sorry to hear that. I’m 40 and love the challenge of taking these more than capable bikes on trails like this. The route was designed specifically for these types of bikes. Thanks for Watching
Im not sure I understand? I never said anything about crossing or not crossing through Wyoming to get to the start of the Wyoming BDR. But if I'm being honest....which I always am, We actually didn't cross Wyoming to get to the start. We started from the south through Colorado, but really why do you care?
@@backcountryadvmoto minute 3 in the rain your in Wyoming. I guess you rocked down 430 to 318 to 40 to get back to baggs? With little to no mapping other than Idaho alls one ccan go on is scenery and places one may have been. But if you don't think crossing 500 miles of Wyoming to start a adventure part of the adventure...ok...why not i 80 to creston junction to baggs. Would have shaved 3 hrs off the drive
@@Cj-yw8cs because we didn’t have a tight time line and riding motorcycles for me is never about the fastest route. I hate slabbing freeway so I avoid it as much as possible. I’d take backroads around the world if I could.
Honestly, I just enjoy the challenge of it. It’s easy to take a dirt bike like a 450 on those tracks. But the challenge of getting through something difficult with a bigger bike is enjoyable for me. No offense taken. Everyone has their own definition of fun.
I own a KTM 500 that would be a simple route on it. BUT I wouldn't ride the KTM from Eastern Washington to Wyoming, you'd need to haul it. Leave your trailer and tow vehicle behind and have a way to go back and retrieve them. So larger ADV bike makes sense.

It has a brace on it, but unfortunately it was a freak hit
What time of year was this?
About a 1:20 I say it’s in August. 👍🏻 thanks for watching
Did you guys share a sleeping bag?
Feels like I have seen this series before, is this re-edit or repost?
No, it 100% original
To be clear, others have released their experiences on this route as well but this is the first time I’ve released out experience
@@backcountryadvmoto OK, I have watched a few videos on this BDR from others. I do like your low key approach though. No hype or drama. Ride safe.
I would like to see the pack down size of that table
Here is my video on the table and chair 👍🏻

Just ordered one. Thanks
9:46 you didn't hit mud bud, you went over a slanted smooth rock and it pushed your front wheel to the left. Pick better lines or stand on your bike to better stabilize your bike. Happy riding!
later in the video I say that I hit the rock after i watched the video. I was standing in my pegs. Like you said it was a shit line. I call my self an expert rider and that was not how I normally ride 😉
@@backcountryadvmoto haha I jumped the gun as soon as I saw it, should have waited till the end of the video 🤦♂😂
What a beautiful spot though, thanks for taking us along.
@@H.A.. All good. Glad you liked it.
Did I see that wrong… is that a R1300GS?
No that was a 1200
I live in Anchorage, I go out on my front porch and see moose
I live in north Idaho and we see them regularly as well. For most people it is rare, and like to see them.
@@backcountryadvmoto I used to think that opening scene in Northern Exposure was BS with the moose walking down the main street till I moved here, I live 2 blocks from downtown
Fieldcraft hat = subscribe and thumbs up!
😎🤘🏼
Glad you liked it
I don’t get it! Why?
you guys got balls i ride a yzf 450 moto trail desert etc have much respect for you taking such large bikes on some serious rocky terrain which i like but riding a 240 ib bike compared to your bike with all the equipment u must be pushing 400 plus is a whole nother level of riding reminds me of the 7days of Baja we left with 85 guys and rolled into Cabo San Lucas with 40 plus riders 0n day seven im 62 now still do a little moto and single track nowadays they got a different bike for any type of terrain stay safe will keep watching
Yeah I enjoy the challenge of getting these big bikes into places most people would go. the Honda weights near 575lbs with all the gear and the BMW is pushing 650lbs. These bikes are more capable than what people think. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
Enough Already About the FOOT PEG...LOL...
Haha
You crossed thu Wyoming to get to Wyoming? Why does everyone not tell the truth anymore?
@@backcountryadvmoto understood. Take off east at the hiawatha turn and will be dirt till baggs. Happy trails
Dirt trails/roads, wild landscapes....found in most states !
That’s a coincidence the name of that garage is my ex wife’s motto
No offense, don’t understand why guys ride those big bikes on such technical single track? Weight is your enemy
Honestly, I just enjoy the challenge of it. It’s easy to take a dirt bike like a 450 on those tracks. But the challenge of getting through something difficult with a bigger bike is enjoyable for me. No offense taken. Everyone has their own definition of fun.

Good answer, if I was younger I would share your opinion
I own a KTM 500 that would be a simple route on it. BUT I wouldn't ride the KTM from Eastern Washington to Wyoming, you'd need to haul it. Leave your trailer and tow vehicle behind and have a way to go back and retrieve them. So larger ADV bike makes sense.
