    Kudos to you for having the b4lls to check out this deep cut! They’re all such classically well-trained musicians and composers that they made this sound like an impromptu jam session. But it is a well composed and arranged piece of art.

    When someone asked Jimi Hendrix what it was like to be the best guitar player in the world, Jimi replied “I don’t know. Ask Terry Kath.” Terry Kath was criminally overlooked as a great player. Rolling Stone magazine doesn’t even list him in the Top 100 guitarists.

      I was fortunate to see them live three times in the 70s when Terry Kath was at his best. In concert, Chicago wasn't really into special effects or pyro. They came out and played music and they played it really well. That was why they were there - not to put on a visual extravaganza.

    @craigw1911 2 роки тому +6

    As others already suggested, the first track of the first side of the first disc of their first album, the double-LP "Chicago Transit Authority" album is the appropriately titled "Introduction". Written and sung by lead guitarist Terry Kath it introduced the listener to a new band with a radical combination of rock, blues, jazz, funk and a killer horn section. You need to experience Kath's soulful baritone vocals, the smooth horns getting their own spotlight, Kath's blistering guitar and their perfect transitions. Listen closely to the lyrics as Kath speaks to the audience to ask them to give the band a chance to perform for them.
    Also in that vein on this album is the track "Listen", again directed to the audience to give this new band a chance to play for them.

    I really appreciate these reaction videos mostly because you're giving exposure to so many of Chicago's great album cuts. Sure, their hits were top notch but the non hits have always deserved more attention then they've gotten in the past. Somebody else recently did reactions for "It Better End Soon" and "Poem For the People" from the second album, which I appreciated. To me, on albums 1 thru 11 (Terry Kath years) this band could not produce a bad track. They gave so much to listen to and so much variety. Every new album was an aural adventure and treat for the ears. My suggestion would be perhaps "Loneliness Is Just a Word" from the third album. It's short and sweet at about two and a half minutes but it's filled with joy with great Terry Kath vocals and driving bluesy rhythms and horns.

    Please give Introduction a listen from this same album. Written and sung by Terry Kath (rip), guitar, who could not chart the music. Charted by James Pankow, trombone"who said it was "daunting" . Song has some 19/8 time signature. Danny Seraphine, drummer said it's the most challenging song he has ever played. Song is driven by outstanding bass playing , Peter Cetera, which is often overlooked because the entire song is a masterpiece of individual performances welded together brilliantly,with a horn arrangement that will melt your brain. But wait, there's more. All that and a guitar solo that is my favorite of all guitar solos of all time. Thank you. Respectfully submitted.
