One of my top three favorite bands!! Fabulous song!! Terry Kath was a master on the guitar and a deep, soulful voice. Love this band and their music! 😅
Great group. Originally: Chicago Transit Authority. Glad you got to see them live here. Many top songs by them! You've made a note of "Chicago - Feeling Stronger Every Day".
Chicago's trombone player James Pankow tells the story of them playing a club show and Jimi Hendrix was in the audience, then going to the dressing room and telling them Kath was better than Jimi. Jimi asked them to go on the road and be his opening act on tour. ua-cam.com/video/x_A88tvQHqI/v-deo.html
It's a great solo, no doubt about that... but the very idea that there is one "greatest solo ever" is so patently ridiculous that it surprises me that so many people think such a thing exists.
The original lineup of Chicago, 1967-1978 was the best with Terry Kath on guitar. Jimi Hendrix told the band that their guitar player (Terry) was better than Jimi himself. If you loved that solo, go to their debut album as the Chicago Transit Authority and play "Poem 58". 9 minutes of PURE FUNK!!! Terry on guitar backed by Danny Seraphine on drums and Peter Cetera on bass. INCREDIBLE!
Love this band! They have so many great songs! Try Saturday In the Park, or I'm A Man, or Introduction, and I could go on. I know you'll love it all too! The guitar legend Jimi Hendrix was once quoted saying that Terry Kath, the guitarist here, was one of his favorite guitarists to listen to. Quite high praise indeed!
You just gotta love that brassy sound. The vinyl 45 of this is one of my most played, & I always follow it with "Vehicle" by the Ides Of March, a similar brass/rock epic. Please check it out when you can. I love seeing your reactions.
A great Chicago song and the live version did feature a great guitar solo. Liking this as you did check out Frank Marino - Something's Comin' Our Way Live at the Agora theatre.
With the amount of electricity this sends through us 52 years later & half a world away (or in my case a 45 minute drive), imagine what Terry Kath must have felt like as the guitarist, channeling the raw voltage of the real deal into notes with a block of wood and metal.
The expression on trumpeter Lee Loughnane's face toward the end of Terry's solo is priceless. I saw Terry with the band 8 times. After he left us too early, the band was never the same.
They have 3 lead singers and if you want here that guitarist singing a soulful lead, I am going to suggest you react to "Make Me Smile/More Than Ever". It was their first big hit.
SOOOOO glad you did this live version of 25 or 6 to 4 !!!! Terry was on FIRE !!!! Next see him sing lead in (Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon Tanglewood 1970) from this same concert and make sure you get the full 14 minute one as it has been cut up. Here is the link and don't settle for the cut-outs. ua-cam.com/video/iFWdkBvxDoA/v-deo.html
Reading down the comments, I want to clarify or correct a misunderstanding. When the song ends, the singer isn't saying "take care". He is recognizing the amazing guitar work of Terry Kath. So he isn't saying take care, he is saying Terry Kath. Just wanted to clear that up. I've been listening to what is now called "classic rock" for almost sixty years now. This is without any doubt the best guitar solo I've ever heard...and this is from a guy who was center stage for an Alvin Lee and Ten Years After concert.
Sweety the whole band gelled here!!! Terry was definitely playing his butt off in this one ! He was amazing in this one!! Now I totally believed everything Jimi said about him!!
In portuguese: "Demorou para ajustar a Bateria: MUITA cocaína!!! A MAIOR proa de que acabaram os Músicos: que MANDAVAM na Música/Instrumentos; hoje é só programas de computador que afinam Instrumentos e "fazem cantores!"
Jimi Hendrix was once asked in an interview how it felt being the world's best guitarist and he replied "The next time I meet Terry Kath I'll ask him!" Enough said!
I first saw CTA at Nashaminy High School in Langhorne PA in the GYM. That was May ‘70 before this concert. There was no stage and I was in front of Terry. I was so blown away I went and formed my own horn Jazz Rock band. When Terry died so did Chicago 🙏💔 He was so great. The energy was off the charts 😎👍
You have now witnessed what is considered one of the greatest live guitar solos ever! Terry Kath was a genius. Taken from us so soon by an accidental shooting.
Ok, now for a studio album that will make your cheeks hurt from smiling after listening, as did this song. So Boston Foreplay/Long Time from debut album, just titled Boston.
DO YOU WONDER WHAT 25 OR 6 TO 4 MEANS ? WE MUST GO TO THE NUMBERED WORDS FROM THE ORIGINAL BIBLE ~~ STRONG’S CONCORDANCE (Search Strongs 25 , Strongs 6 & Strongs 4 ~ 25 = LOVE 6 = TO PERISH 4 = Fruit (as in fallen fruit. LEARN TO LOVE OR PERISH LIKE FALLEN FRUIT ! Godspeed
Doesn't mean any of that. It's a song about writing a song and coming up with nothing until one of them asked what time is it. "It's 25 or 26 to 4(am). The rest is history. Now you don't have to wonder what it means, it ain't the ridiculous post you have.

Terry Kath will never be forgotten. What a genius.
Great group. Originally: Chicago Transit Authority. Glad you got to see them live here. Many top songs by them! You've made a note of "Chicago - Feeling Stronger Every Day".
Actually their original name was The Big Thing, then CTA, then Chicago.

Ahh Chicago❤❤❤❤
Chicago "Now" is another one you will enjoy
So the story is Jimi Hendrix came to one of their shows and was so impressed with Terry he came backstage and told him that he was better than him!!!
Без него и питера сетера чикаго уже далеко не тот которого мы все обожали и любили ,,,,,,!!!
I don't know if you have yet, but listen to Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) Mister Blue Sky.
Jimi Hendrix said the Chicago guitarist is a better guitarist than himself.
как бы это шикарно не звучало 0 чек саунд уже при живых зроителях делалиЮ млять!!??
After Kath died it was a different band...sadly!
CTA the best!!
Kath

Fair enough. But this solo was jaw dropping and face melting.

Jimi Hendrix Called Chicago’s Terry Kath The Best Guitarist In The Universe.

Terry Kath was Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarist and they even planned to do some songs together, but sadly Hendrix died suddenly.
Grew up with during their early days.Appreciate them even more now.
I knew you'd like this song live Sarah. Time to do 'I'm A Man' from the same concert. Just as good if not better.🤘
They have 3 lead singers and if you want here that guitarist singing a soulful lead, I am going to suggest you react to "Make Me Smile/More Than Ever". It was their first big hit.
Thanks for showcasing this gem - arguably best live performance in rock history. Terry Kath was unreal!
Great group, great song, great reaction! What else could anyone want? Thanks for brightening my day again, Sarah!

This song has my favorite guitar solo by anyone not named David Gilmour.
Go Sarah Go
Sarah Dengler, if you're reading this, that was Terry Kath at his guitar BEST!!! I hope you liked him!!!
Come Sarah Come

This is another great example of when bands played their instruments with everything in them. ❤
Ladies and gentlemen " Terry Kath !
Jimi Hendrix said Terri Kath was his favourite Guitarist.
When stars were a "group" of musicians, and not "artists."
Ass-kickin' solo! My favorite!!!!
Hi Sarah. I would love you reacting to sinead o connor nothing compares to you. It is a fantastic song that I know you will love
One of your best reactions!
Love this sweet little podcaster you are adorable 😻

their original lineup was brilliant. My fave by them is Beginnings.
Fun fact: those same guys + Janes ended up as the famous Muppet band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem to much acclaim
Ok, now for a studio album that will make your cheeks hurt from smiling after listening, as did this song. So Boston Foreplay/Long Time from debut album, just titled Boston.
If the lyrics confuse you, it’s about coming down of an acid trip!
Find a live video of Mister Blue Sky by ELO
If you wanna hear one of the best solos ever, try "Who's That Lady" by the Isley Brothers. It's _mesmerizing_ .😵💫
At the end he says Terry Kath, not take care, as many think.
How great they sound is incredible! No in ear monitors, just those tiny floor wedges... And back then, those were pretty crappy at best...
I loved your reaction! Much like mine way back in the early 70's listening to this remarkably innovative and incredible band from head to toe.
Loved watching you react !!
amazing live performance.. gotta love a horn section.. got hooked on that as a kid with blues brothers movie
nice one
Masterpiece! Love it!
