- A super thanks to Greg@stevethefishdotnet for supplying me with this great kit. This was my last kit of 2019, and aside from a small mishap, this was an extremely fun and satisfying kit to build. Please check out Greg's channel for more kits like this: / stevethefishdotnet #bandai#plamo#starwars

Still my favourite starship ever!
I will build this, once I find it, as the Star Dreadnaught Colorado from my 5th Star Wars Comic Series.
All those little pieces of masking tape, You have the patience of gods. I bloody envy you! Loved this.
Thank you very much. It was a dedicated process, I think in all the time it must have taken me 2 hours to mask it all.
I have this exact same model, but I doubt that I could ever match the level of detail you’ve achieved here. Great work!
OMG !!!! Yet again you've pushed the boundaries of what you can achieve with masking. I love it !! Going to rder this kit. Finally my modelling Mojo is back. Well done mate !
Thanks as always Jerry. This is a really fun little kit, I'm more than certain you will have fun with this one. I'm glad to hear that, I'm feeling pretty pressed to work on more projects lately as well :D
They need to include a same scale Imperial Star Destroyer so you can get an idea as to just how huge these monsters are! Great job!
Maybe they'll make one the same size (or bigger) than their new Star Destroyer kit. I bet We'd get a comparison SD with that one.
@@rebelsatcloudnine or hope some die hard fan made a resin kit of a SD up to scale with this model kit. There's bound to be one out on the net.

Turned out awesome 👍 glad you were able to recover from the seem opening up.
Great kit. Looks amazing,well done!
Thank you Greg :D
The amount of ptiense you took to make this tiny model is just breathtaking.
You deserve a standing ovation for this kit sir.
Thank you very much :)
Such a small scale and such an amazing job.....great save with the small pieces of styrene covering the gap....terrific detail....well done!
Thank you Robert, I can't tell you how frustrated I was with myself when I did that.
Just ordered one of these from Japan with the ISD included after watching your build, love these little Bandai kits. Great job on yours Jared especially all the masking! Looking forward to seeing more builds from you they always go straight to the top of my watch list.
Thank you kindly Luke, I think that you will really enjoy this kit. The engineering on it is really top quality. Thanks for watching :D
Superb work Jared!
Thank you Tommyboy :)
Great job on the build. The center section gave me a fit on mine but got it together.
I'm still kicking myself that I wasn't more cautious with that.
That dry brushing really brought out the detail. It looks amazing keep it up!
Thanks Noah, that was my favourite part of the build.
one of my favorite star wars spaceship!!
Well done my friends!!
Thank you very much :D I'm glad that the SSD finally got a model kit.
Excellent masking & drybrushing technique. Great tutorial for sci-fi subjects. Well done!
Thanks Lance, I do live my Sci-fi subjects, they seem to bring out more creativity in me.
@@rebelsatcloudnine I got a bunch of kits from lot sale. 3 were Starblazers Bandai 1985. Now I can make a fleet of Comet Empire heavy cruisers! Remember a post you did with the small Japanese kits and the fun they can bring, your right! Saw a battlestar done in Germany and it looked so realistic. Wish I could remember his handle but alas, thanks for sharing.
That was some major-league masking you did there! Anyone who's ever done the deck of a ship knows the level of patience involved is off the scale. Well done!
Thank you very much. That was a laborious process, but I'm glad that I invested that time into the build as it really produced the effect I was hoping for.
Hi J, fantastic job really well done and another brill, enjoyable video. Hope you and your family are well. Stay safe brother
Thank you very much Steve, it's a great little weekend build of a kit, quite amazing what Banadi is able to build.
Hey, that kit turned out really well. Nice modulation of the colour to help with the depth and scale.pretty tough to achieve with a pretty much grey model. Nicely done J.
Thanks Rich, I wanted to try that out rather than having it all bleh grey. I recently found someone who makes a decal sheet for all of the lines that are on the studio model. So I might have to build another one.
That is a great kit, I love Star Destroyers.
Looks cool
Thanks Charlie :D
excellent....
I would never have the patience for that kind of masking... your attention to detail puts the rest of us to shame! Well, me, anyway.. ;) But it sure pays off.... Excellent, always! :)
I think it's more of an obsessive personality haha. Thanks for watching and commenting Rob :D
Whow amazing!!!
Do you have a video were you show how you do all the masking?
Would love to learn from you!!
No sorry, it was too difficult to record as I had the model really close to me face to see what I was doing. I just cut a lot of really thin strips of Tamiya masking tape and placed them around the center structure. It took time to do, but I thought it was worth the efforts in the end :)
Well, it seems that those tiny pieces broken by the end were no impediment to finish with such a wonderful work. It seems relatively easy in spite of such engraved detailing.
Now let's wait for at least a 1/144th scale model on it...
The attention to detail is what makes your models stand out from the rest. It must have taken you days to mask. Beautiful work.
Thank you kindly Ron, how have you been? The little masking with all those lines I think took me about 2 hours to complete, I did wonder several times if it was worth it all.
@@rebelsatcloudnine it was definitely worth it. My mental health is not too good so not been doing much modeling. Moved to Glasgow, Scotland and settling into my new flat. I look forward to your next build. But if I could ask a request and maybe do a video about what a beginner would need to start modeling? Essential equipment etc.
6:20 is that you making your own mr dissolved putty?
Nice save with the cracked seam.
A great build
Thanks Ian :D Yes that's basically what it is. I have yet to find any Mr. Dissolved Putty here in Canada.
gob job ! i love this Bandaï kit and your work is great !
Thanks Vincent, I agree this is a really fun kit.
I have this ship but had a hell of a hard time painting the red inside the engines
I agree, I had a similar issue, I think it's because of how deep those engines are.
Next super star destroyer you do paint the engines pumpkin that looks so much better than red
I want this model but i cant afford an air brush do you have any suggestions for any paint that doesn't leave streaks or shine
I think your best bet is to use spray paint, and if there is a gloss of shine effect to try using a flat coat. As for paint that doesn't leave streaks you can hand brush the paint, there are many miniature gaming channels that have videos on how to paint without streaks :D
Thank you very much love you video

Size
The masking step for the XF-77 coat on the superstructure was outstanding (ua-cam.com/video/aJdF_iLTdMQ/v-deo.html). Did you use 1) one of the commercially available super thin (1mm) masking tapes or did you cut all those by hand and 2) did you use any magnifying device to achieve that masking? This kit is so tiny! I'm working on my Bandai SSD kit right now and you are my painting inspiration. THANKS!
Thanks Paul, I'm glad that you liked the video :) I used Tamiya 10mm tape, and placed strips on a piece of glass. I then used a ruler and carefully cut thin strips that you see in the video. Oddly enough it didn't take too long to mask this model. I think it was about an hour and a half, but once I got in a good rhythm it went by very quickly. And no this was all eyeballed, I have a hard time with magnifiers and I found this to be easy enough to mask. Best of luck with your kit, I'm sure it's going to look awesome :D
@@rebelsatcloudnine Thanks!!
Niiicccceeeee! (Why the Dark scheme?)
What's wrong with it?
