- I know that Bandai is still all the rage, but wow this kit was just a delight. I'd like to give a huge thanks to my brother for painting up the Biggs and R2-Q2. #starwars #Xwing#finemolds

Great detail work! That looks like an original movie prop!
Thank you so much Ed, I based this off of the real Studio Model of Red 3. I really appreciate the comment :D
Code RED..LEADER.Standing By.
Another masterwork, thing of beauty Jared, love it
yet another brilliant piece of modelling, loved the masking, really clean work
Well that's just freaking stunning
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!
Looks outstanding.
Watching that masking tape come off is magical. :)
Yes, as long as all the paint stays on the model haha :D
Beautiful job.
Excellent chipping👍 superb build mate.
Impressive...Most impressive!
Excellent work! Great masking/ layering job! Looks amazing! Got myself a lot of notes for my X-Wing build. Thank you so much for sharing you model building skills.
Thank you so much Russell, I'm glad that this was helpful. I'm excited to hear that you are planning an X-wing build as well. I've got to get the Bandai kit now and see how they look next to each other.
@@rebelsatcloudnine I have quite a few Star Wars kits. 2020 is going to be a new year in my approach to model building. Want to hit various genres.
Superb work!
Gorgeous.
Excellent work mate, super kit and clever ideas ,love the work
Kind regards
Thank you very much Matt, this was a very fun project. I always get a kick out of building a sci-fi project.
This is such a sweet kit, and you did an amazing job with it!
Thank you very much MM, I had a lot of fun building this kit. I'd like to be doing more Sci-fi subjects on the channel but they don't seem to catch peoples attention like aircraft.
@@rebelsatcloudnine Yes, i noticed that with my sci-fi builds too :(
Great work especially with masking :)
Really nice job
Your additive masking technique makes so much more sense than how I've been doing trying to mask. Block out color, then mask what you want to keep. I'm definitely going to try this approach on my next model. Also explains the extra scribing in the beginning - I bet those paint layers fill in the details quickly.
Awesome video and incredible work!
This past year I've learned better painting techniques so I think I can do this method again but in smaller sections. I'm glad that you like this method, I'm hoping to build a few more X-wings this next year as I was able to buy 2 more this summer and I'm anxious to add them to my collection :)
CHAOS SPAWN.
Excellent.
Fantastic work J. I love it. I've just bought a few Bandai kits after I built my first ever a month or so back. It was the Stormtrooper from the original series. It was such a nice kit. So I bought a few more. Ha ha. You've done another masterpiece here my friend. Stay safe buddy and I hope these recent fires over your side of the pond are not affecting you again. Stay safe buddy
I agree, I've built a few of the Bandai kits, but this is the first Fine Molds I've ever built. As a result I've got a small collection of them now. I actually wasn't aware of any fires until you mentioned it. They were kind of close, but the snow has long put them out.
That‘s Modelling!Great Job👍👍👍
Excellent work!
I wish I had half your skills with an airbrush!
Awesome good work.
Good job!
Nice build with some clever masking.
Woe awesome build
Oh, you and your perfectly masked canopies! This turned out so great, and you remembered the one short thruster can on Red 3.
Yep, it only took me 58 tires but I masked it haha. Yeah, I had set of the English instructions. Fine Molds really needs to make English instructions with the kit
@@rebelsatcloudnine So is this the Fine Molds or Bandai kit? Asking for a friend. Thx
Beautiful build! Your brother even got Biggs' mustache!
Fine Molds makes some excellent kits, on par with Tamiya, on my opinion. I'm currently working on their 1/48 Kawasaki Ki-10, which is a joy to work on. I'd even recommend it to builders who normally shy away from biplanes, because it just falls together. But watching this has inspired me to get to work painting my 1/72 X-Wing soon. I have the sub-assemblies done just as you did, but it's been on the back burner for a while.
Thank you very much :D I have admit the best part of the build for me was seeing Biggs and the astromech in the completed model. This one was benched a few times I'm sad to say. As things just got in the way, but I got tired of seeing that box of parts and I just decided that enough was enough and I got to work and pulled through this build. I'm really glad that I did as I really love this kit, I've even got another one in the stash :)
The Ki-10 has been on my list for a while now, as 2 friends of mine have bought it and all they could do is sing it's praises. There are a few other Fine Molds kits I want to get first, but that Ki-10 is on my list!
Awesome
Good work ! I hope that this kit will soon be marketed again in Europe!
That would be awesome, but I sadly don't expect it to happen now that Revell is the distributor for Bandai in Europe.
Realistico al 100 x 100. Ciao dall'Italia
Great Job ^_^
My favorite part of this build is the 'stache on the pilot! Nice job!
Thanks Scott, I agree with you on that one.
@@rebelsatcloudnine This is such a great build. Excellent work! Most of the builds I see are over weathered but yours is sharp!
@@plasticposse768 Thanks Scott I appreciate that, and I agree I've seen a lot of Star Wars ships mostly Falcons and X-wings that are painted up and then just plastered with wethering. To each his own, when it come to modeling, but I've found with X-wings that less is more :)
All of the Fine Molds kits were excellent. Good Job! (Now do Blue Leader ;) )
Not for a while.
Delicious..... :)
Oh well now that’s nice.
Thanks Gyruss, I had a lot of fun on this project. These Fine Molds Star Wars kits are really fantastic.
I got it when it came out. Still waiting to be built......
FIREWORKS.(RED3.)
I still have my Revell re-release of the Fine Molds X-Wing. Along with my three or four Bandai versions.
Nice, I've yet to buy an original X-wing from Bandai, I've built 2 of the newer T-70.
rebelsatcloudnine I released a video of me building the Grim Reaper model check it out later.
As everybody else has said, your work is just fantastic! I have six of these all still in their boxes, just waiting for my skill to improve!!! Can anyone tell me if the Bandai kits have the extra engine parts and separate painting guide to make other X-Wings?
Thanks Ian, I'm not sure as I don't yet own one of the Bandai kits.
rebelsatcloudnine thanks for the reply. Does anyone else know? I suspect the Bandai kits just have parts for red five.
Yes, talk to Greg (stevethefishdotnet) He commented on this video, he's got a channel as well and he compared the Bandai kit when it was first released. He'll be able to tell you more on that.
CANADA Mustang.
I forget... Why did you glue the wings into the open position? Does this kit have a difficult time keeping the wings open on their own?
Man, that's awesome! Do you have any download links for the instructions? I'm struggling a bit with the Japanese that are included....
Thank you kindly :) I found them here on the Hobby Link Japan Website, they are near the bottom of the page highlighted in blue: www.hlj.com/1-72-scale-x-wing-fighter-fnmsw-01
@@rebelsatcloudnine thanks, mate! I'm starting at this hobby, any kind of help is much appreciated!
@@fabioragone22 No problem, if you need any extra help with the build just message me and I'll try to help you out. It's a pretty straight forward build and a really fun one :)
How did he put the glass on the door of the cockpit?
I used Micro Scale Krystal Klear glue. It's very nice glue that dries clear and is very strong.
Fine Molds X Wing or Bandai’s X Wing
Thank GOD someone still knows what real music should sound like - not someone choking Alvin and the chipmunks, or someone beating a tea kettle to death!!! Any way this is how I like to work - right the first time around with all the correct detailing. I built one of those Ban Dai bastards in 1/72nd but I haven't painted it yet. I am working in tandem with a 1959 Caddilac Edorado Biarritz Convertible at the moment. I'm trying to get it painted and all the details finished. Then on to the Tie Fighters that I bought last week on evilbay. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with the rest of us. Hopefully you can inspire someone else to do what I and so many others have done and still do since I can't after the photosuckit debacle. Thank you again!
Just a comment for the algorithm
Any chance you sell after painting? :)
Sorry not with this one in particular, however, I can build you one just like it using the Bandai 1:72 X-wing.
