It's a terrible trend that chineese hardware producers are now pushing products on the market before reaching a stable level. Shanling EH3 is a disaster in this view but coming from Cayin it's a first. Thank you for the whole and detailed review.
Thanks for the review. Not a lot of exposure on this for some reason. My Hiby RS2's touchscreen stopped working, so I was looking around....that buttery sound. I also had gotten a 2nd RS2, but it didn't sound as good. QC is real...
My ONIX XM5 review is upcoming probably my favorite source from all my daps, it has some Quirkyness as well but at least plays Tidal. I do love the form factor of the N3U it's my carry dap.
Great video you should have a look at the Aune M1P great sound but a software nightmare and terrible battery life maybe like the Cayin ? Thanks all the best.

Why do some of the DAP manufacturers place their headphone jacks at the bottom of their players? I prefer mine at the top so I can stand mount my AK SP3000.
Never buy a DAP for sound quality. Especially if you're spending in excess of 200$. Look at the other functionalities, use case scenarios, weight, OS, screen, Bluetooth etc etc... Just assume the sound quality is great. It is always good. Don't spend hundreds hunting for a 1% improvement. If you develop that mentality, even with that dap of your dreams, you'll still be pondering, " Am I still missing out??".
The Shanling M5U for the same price outclassed this DAP in every way. The M5U is slightly warmer bit musical as he'll, wicked battery , huge power and a user experience worthy of your money 💰 I could have said that in the review but bit then it would really sound like I am dumping on the Cayin and not bieng objective.
@@rajeebdas1724 I disagree in some cases. Tubes intentionally add distortion that’s pleasing, it changes the sound and makes it worse in a pleasing way. If you just want basic well engineered neutrality, that’s luckily very cheap today. The Cayin RU 6 and RU 7 dongles are also examples of modifying the sound in pleasing ways. With some products, the RU 7 smooths over the sound in a way I just love. Chasing better engineered neutral products is sort of a lost cause at this point in the game, though. The Hiby R4 will be all most people would ever need for a DAP.
I bought the ibasso dx260 after falling for the hyperbole, now it does sound superb, and other worldly but its very revealing, all my files are 320kbps some are very good quality and some arent due to the audio quality of the original cassette..however a warm sounding dap covers up all those flaws! Gives the recording more body and nowhere near as revealing...hell theres 8 dacs in the 260...every single minute detail is revealed, including things you dont want to hear like humming from the amp

Monkness where are you,stop hiding,lol 2nd day w/ xenns up - after tip and cable rolling. Landed on juzear cable,tried voice cable( penon) didn't sound right,too forward for vocals and Azla tips. You're right has special sauce,so much I want to make knuckle butter 🤪
hi ! i need a sincere and honest answer & reply from you , i need a lush, rich ,warm sound digital audio player because i see alot of review giving different stories and so on lots of DAP player causing confusion on me . I am a end user with my hard earn money dont want to waste after buying it. and too going for Meze Audio Planar Liric II headphone too and which DAP match well with it, i listen to SACD ISO fomat in my music collection with i cannot use any EQ on it. Just curious what you think of Cayin N8II perforamnce is it a rich,lush, warm DAP player or the tube it is is just Pre-amp only ? Does it match with the Meze Audio Planar Liric II Hope to hear from you soon thx and appreciate for your advise, cheers ujin

That seems to be the same for all Cayin owners. We love our DAP'S and put up with the crappy software just because the players sound so damn good.
for that price it should have bluetooth and wifi as well. Sorry, Hiby is much better, like the R6 iii. Nearly same price but you get much more!
The Shanling M5 ultra is my go to but I can't help but enjoy the N3U clean sound

Cayin with or without tube preamps sound bright. For your Meze go with a Hiby R8 would be my first choice or Shanling M9+

M8 is a slightly less powerful less warm M9+ I own the M8 and love it.

Can't answer that I have warmer IEM'S that I love with this DAP like the NiceHCK Himalaya if that helps ?
