- In continuing our discussion on the interior life, Fr. Mark-Mary elaborates on St. Teresa of Ávila and Fr. Thomas Dubay and dives into explaining the conditions for growth in prayer and the interior life.
Today, Fr. Mark-Mary explains the four conditions for growth:
1. doing the will of God
2. growth in prayer does not depend on a person's immediate situation
3. the spiritual life cannot be reduced to doing the bare minimum
4. purification

Amen!! Thank you for sharing this message. I was recently diagnosed with cancer, and as I am trying to focus on prayer, my mind goes elsewhere thinking of all the scenarios with my diagnosis. I then rebuke any negative thoughts and thank our Lord for his patience with me, and get back into prayer. God has been amazing throughout this cancer journey…I know he is by my side. Glory to him!
Regression is something I've been struggling with as a new Catholic, but my determination for the Lord burns bright in my heart. God is good, and he blesses me everyday, and I feel his love. Thanks be to god, and thanks to you father for these words of inspiration.

It's very true that sometimes we treat God only as a rulemaker, or in Fr. Mike Schmitz's own words, as an ATM.
I just want to be joyful following the rules of the church but deep inside, I feel very unhappy.
I constantly wonder as to why we Catholics have to suffer so much, and another part of me thinks that I'm better than others for sacrificing etc but I know that's not true.
There are many atheists who have much better intentions and help the poor etc much more than me.
If God only wants to see the love we have shown others at the end of our lives, then they would have far exceeded me even though they are atheist.

Thanks, Father. I used to be really excited about that book too. Until i realized, holiness and prayer is a lifetime adventure. God doesnt always work as quick as wed like. Some may experience contemplation quickly, others, years.

God wants to teach me silence…i am F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G O-U-T!!!!!!!!!! I am focused on “Be still and know i am God.” I am doing boxed breathing 4 seconds breathing in, 4 seconds holding breath, and 4 seconds breathing out. I feel afraid inside. I also give in to despair for all excuses and reasons… the be still, boxed breathing and saint padre pio said, “My past to your mercy, O Lord, my present to your Love, and your providence to my future.” All helps. God is so big in there-the silence. Man, let hime roar and fight my battles says His will. Wow
He taught me about silence too! I talk a lot and a couple years ago He said He was gonna teach me to keep silent more. And He did! And He was so patient and kind and it was enjoyable. ❤ I also struggled with despair and He has released me from it. I am so full of hope for Him and the future. Prayers for your journey with Him!
Tip for someone who can’t do deep breathing bc it ratchets up my anxiety - vagus nerve stimulation helps me best, done by regular inhales and very deep and complete exhales. Best to you
You could also try counting without a particular order (47, 150, 3, 29, 487, 16, 12…).

I suspect the reachings of Origen are going to make a deep impact on humanity. But Saint Theresa of Avila spoke of the Rapture too. Tesla and Teilhard reflected deeply on it too. Teilhard spoke of the Critical Mass coming soon ❤

There is a whole host of Saints that we can call on. They are all beautified in Heaven. But perhaps it’s best to start with the basics. Many will note they do not receive healing yet they never really look at why. We all like to think we are like Moses or Elijah in our ability to heal. But the truth is that many of us are not anointed enough to heal by the Grace of God. Many of us are harbouring inner sins against eachother and not seeking forgiveness.
Mark 11:24- 25 says. “There, I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe hat you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, IF YOU HOLD ANYTHING AGAINST ANYONE, forgive them, so that your Father in Heaven may forgive your sins. James 5:16 goes further: Therefore confess your sins to each other, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. It needs to be emphasised that authentically forgiving each other brings genuine healing to each other. But very few people are really willing to openly forgive each other.

Forgiveness can even be displayed as a rebuke; this is a general pattern of establishing the Trusted Connections. By the way, I suspect this is the Rapture that is coming. Origen and Saint Theresa of Avilla told us about it. St. Theresa of Avila and other mystics, like St. Bernard, often comments on the nuptial and erotic imagery of the Song of Songs. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin told us about it. ❤

Do the will of God
How many hours per day of quality prayer is needed? So my question is how many hours and what determinates are the quality of the prayer?
Silence is all we need.
1 Do the will of God. = kind of tough = I really love chocolate 🍫 also pretty grumpy / lazy / need money…
2 What happened to number 2???
3 …
4 Life ….. 😮
5 Hitting Doritos and not praying enough
6 Bootcamp … not always cozy
7 Step in God cause I am pretty weak

If you have the book they are found on page 111. Excellent book if you have not read it. 1) Do the Will of God. 2) Prayer does not depend on our immediate situation. Begin wherever you are. 3) Don't do the basics! Go beyond and go far! 4) Purification...as we are live and grow in our prayer life things will be difficult (that weren't before). We may realize some of our past habits kept us from growing. AKA no pain, no gain. 5) Make a real effort - particularly through penance. 6) Our growth is only limited by our degree of readiness for it (not God's). 7) Be careful of retrogression. We can feel like we are going backwards. Make sure you press on, press forward. We can easily slip back to mediocre prayer. 8) There is a correlation between virtue and prayer. Going deep in virtue will lead you to going deeper in your ability to pray. God's Grace allows that to happen. 9) The final principle for growth is determination....don't stop until you reach the top...again, by nothing we humans can do, but only through God's Grace. Keep going! Hope that helps.... 🙏

How do I know what is the will of God?
Knowledge is justified true belief. How do you justify a belief in a god in the first place?
I have no idea what the will of God is, and I have no idea where to go to find that. Why must I always say yes to God’s will when God always ignores me?
To follow the 10 Commandments, the advice in Matthew 22:37-39, and the precepts of His Holy Church.
Numbers 6:24-26.

WHO are Martin Luther, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwingli, John Wesley, Roger Williams, etc? Who gave them the power to form their own denominations…a disinterested judge? GOD?
Yes, our Lord made her a saint. He wishes for all of us to be saints and provides us with the grace to do so.
