Besides being happily, devoutly Catholic, I also taught Spanish literature in high school and at the university level, so from both angles I learned a great deal about the beautiful Teresa de Avila! What a magnificent daughter of God. It’s a true pleasure listening to the young priests talk about Teresa. They’re very knowledgeable and interesting.
Thanks so much for discussing the life of mytic St. Teresa of Avila. Wonderful. I enjoyed very much listening to both of you, and God bless you and your priesthood.
So good! Loved the presentation style. Learned so much about her family background and appreciated the examples and perspectives presented. Never would have gotten these by simply reading a narrative. Excellent presentation, a true gift. TY
What a joy to listen to your exchange of views and stories about St Teresa de Avila. My mother's name was Teresa and she was devoted to St Teresa. I'm looking forward to your next videos, God Bless you both!
St Teresa of Avila is so inspiring and encouraging in our spiritual journey, thank you for your work, I so enjoy these conversations, it's easy to follow and profound.
I recommend all visiting Ávila. One of the most beautiful cities in Spain, with its medieval city walls, the oldest gothic cathedral in Spain (one with truly secret passages) and various foundations of Saint Teresa.
Enjoyed this very much, dear brothers. Making Teresa come alive like us. I'm thinking- "I can do all things in Him who strengthens me." Looking forward to the next presentation. God bless & thank you!
Will you be speaking about discursive prayer? Th❤nk you for all the discussions you have shared. Each has been very helpful to me. God bless all the Carmelites.
Great talk! Can you tell me what is the name is the statue of Mary in the background of your talk? You’re energy and as a follower of Christ is the Way I want to be in the world.
Hello! That is a statue of Our Lady of Carmel. She is considered the patroness of the Carmelite Orders, under this title. The history of Mount Carmel and the Carmelite Orders are very interesting. As well as the apparition of Our Lady of Carmel. May you be blessed and always have a fervent heart for Jesus.
@@tedeibeakawaiithank you! I’m very drawn to Therese, Teresa and have you heard of St Theresa Margaret of the Sacred Heart? She had a similar path as Therese.
There is an 8-part TV series on RTVE Archivo channel on "Teresa de Jesús". If you don't speak or understand Spanish, turn on "CC," under gear icon, select "Auto-translate", then choose "English". There are also older, less clear video posts of the first 5 or 6 episodes with English subtitles embedded in the picture. There is an 8-part TV series on RTVE Archivo channel on "Teresa de Jesús". St Teresa of Avila did not found the Discalced Carmelites, she was forced to accept this separation from OCarm (Order of the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, or Carmelites of the Ancient Observance). OCD is also short for obsessive-compulsive disorder or obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. Any division is not willed by God, but with His permission because He gives total freedom to each one of us. As for me, Teresa of Avila is my sister, not my mother. She and I have the same Mother in Heaven, the Blessed Virgin Mary. And my Sisters in Carmelites are the daughters of OL of Mount Carmel, sisters of St. Teresa of Avila, not her daughters. It is up to the Friars, individually or/and collectively, to choose whether making a journey back "home" (toward the reconciliation with OCarm) or continuing on the same old path, that is to remain as sons of St Teresa of Avila, not her brothers. I know Sr Teresa of Avila from heaven wants this reconciliation because that gives God greater glory.
Praise God for your closeness to St. Teresa and to Our Lady! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, but St. Teresa was not forced to accept separation from the OCarms. She actually worked with Diego de Montoya, an agent of Philip II, to ensure the separation of the Discalced Carmelites. Here's an exerpt from a letter she wrote when she heard the good news of the separation: "I tell you this favor has brought me great relief, for it seems we will have peace from here on, which is a wonderful thing. And those who have begun this journey will not be impeded by having superiors so different from them, but they will have their own superiors who will understand what they must do. May he be blessed forever" (Letter 378). St. Teresa also regularly called the nuns in her communities her daughters and they called her their mother. Finally, Holy Mother Church has formally recognized the Discalced Carmelites as a separate religious Order with St. Teresa as the foundress. There are no hard feelings between the Discalced and OCarms today. Both come from the same roots, but acknowledge that we are separate religious Orders with different charisms and missions in the Church. God bless you!!
I cant help but think that whoever is in charge of setting the clocks is a bit of a prankster...it must make getting to prayers, mass, and all communal activities on time quite the challenge 🤦🏻♀️

So excited for this new season. It has been years now since I've read The Book of Her Life, and I see I'm really in need of this refresh!
Thank you! Please share your questions and reflections as we go along. Know of our prayers through the intercession of St. Teresa!

Were there any Saints named Teresa before 1515?
I believe that she was the first. And many since then have been named after her!
I’m like St Teresa. I did not see being a nun bc I was just like her as a teenager and in my 20s
Prayers that you continue to be like St. Teresa and become a great saint!!
So this is just talk, no movie of St. Teresa of Jesus. I want a good movie.
