As a city guy I would like to have had more introduction, e.g. how was land prepared from immediately after previous harvest, what fertilizers, if any, are used, how do you deal with weeds, do you need to plant other crops to control pests, what are the big issues modern in wheat production
Enjoyed this one, I've been thinking about doing some videos of planting with my father in law. We have a quarter section of corn and beans to put in the ground.
40 years ago I planted winter wheat in Northeast Arkansas behind soybeans with a 20 foot Great Plains drill we prepared the ground similar to you. Disk, harrow, drill, we seeded long grain rice and soybeans with the same drill. Basically the same procedure except on our rice ground we pulled a 16 by 60 Scott land plane manufactured in Dewitt Arkansas was a really great tool for flood irrigated crops....
I never planted that high of rate with a drill I tried 11/4 to 11/2 bushel at the most with winter wheat. We usally used a tandem disk, and a John Deere soil finisher normally called a DoAll they had a lead chopping reel on the front and a tumbling harrow in the middle with a spring tensioned leveling board trailing made a fantastic seedbed.
In the US spring wheat is planted at a rate of 1/2 to 4 million seeds for ha or 10,000 square meter. limited production dryland is planted at the lower rate. winter wheat is 1/3 to 2 million per ha.
Question from Germany: how many grains did you drill per squaremeter? sometimes we drill summerwheat after sugarbeet in december,we call it change-wheat.
Hi, i"m in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea and I would like to start a small business of wheat farming here. the temperature here in the highlands is 72 degrees F regardless of the season. Papua New Guinea is a tropical region and climate especially in the highlands region it rains almost all year around. What can recommend for me?
Believe it or not, I’m having a hard time finding wheat seed in my area. Is there a good spring variety I should look for when growing in the north east?
Hello! So we are the varieties Bolles & Surpass, that works well for the soil we farm, in central MN. I'm not super familiar with the soil in the NE. I'd call a local seed store and ask! Hope this helps!
Man, this latest Farming Simulator has amazing graphics and tutorials.

Hi Brian,
How much seed you used per acre?
60 kg
Weather in Oklahoma is the same lol .
All I learned, is that I'm wayy to broke to plant wheat. Buying a loaf of bread vs 300 thousand on farm equipment 😐
You're very good looking 😍
