The first Chicago Police helicopter is a HH-1N Huey and is referred to as Police 3. The second helicopter is a new Bell-429, which was paid for with a U.S. Justice Department grant. It features advanced observation, surveillance and tracking equipment. The Chicago Police Department plans to receive two additional helicopters by the end of 2024.
