as an engine builder, spend the $230 and fit a new set of ls7 lifters and new buckets.. that engine has been pumping bearing material around.. the oil filter will only catch 25 micron and bigger.. anything smaller has been pumping through those lifters. if one dies, it's heads back off to replace.
if it didn't make the power that it was meant to make maybe look at getting a different tuna and also when it was dynoed I see you added more timing more timing can make it detonate at the bottom end which could make it also spin a bearing so maybe it's all from the tuner. also another little trick you can do with the engines is you can put a weaker head gasket on it's just cheap insurance it's easier to blow a head gasket then to do a bottom end when it's got too much timing in it
It made the exact same power as the last tuner, engine was put together like shit whoever built it, timing was fine, no detonation, everyone is always so quick to jump on the “tuna” bandwagon when something goes wrong
Crazy to think that. I just had my TK cam done and it sounds nothing like yours did. Even just idle lobe is completely different. Check out SnR autoworx for the video of my car with the exhaust note if you're interested.
Great entertaining and informative video Chris! Not so great that it spun a bearing, but at least now the internals aren't a mystery and you'll know it been put back together correctly. Cheers for sharing mate...

@@MindieJ dude..ya know what else. You're not supposed to undo head bolts with an impact wrench, your supposed to sweat profusely undoing them by hand with a wrench while breaking some of the bolt heads off 😁👍
Not even real technical , fit the arp rod bolts and mic it out , you'll find it's out of round. The only reason it's "usually fine" is people haven't reground the crank. The clearances are that large the ovalisation doesn't affect it cause it's been slapped back together and was 200k old lol. I'm unsure if get cracking issues with re grinding LS cranks . But the $90 for polishing and old crank vs $220 for fresh clearances with an undersize bearing is always the better way to go if isn't a common issue with ground cranks.
I have a gm performance street racer cam in mine, timing has also been advanced 2°. Seems to be the go for getting them up and moving a little faster down low rpm as they can be a bit of a sluggish cam down low but make great power high rpm. Its not out of the ordinary what they have done from my personal experience
@@MindieJ gm performance were more than helpful with answering any questions I asked. With a large cam and any timing changes it may be worth shooting them a message to avoid any piston to valve accidents but I'm sure your engine builder would have that knowledge anyway. Good luck with it all mate, will be awesome to have it back on the road fresh as.
Just found your channel man. Nice job👍 I had a white vn like yours back in the day looked exactly like your but I had a worked v6 in it and manual. Would love to send you a photo.
Cam timing depends on all the components. Crank key, cam key and chain. Big HP engine is NOT stock rods. They are 'cracked' rod. And look at it, It may well be bent.
Little bit off topic but where did you get the new seatbelt buttons? I've got a Senator like your boss's and would love to replace them. Speaking of witch, any more content on the Senator coming up? It's how I found your channel and now I've subscribed.
thats a decent sized cam for a stock engine.....longer duration needs rpm...advancing it 2 degree's should bring power in a little earlier...maybe look at something in the 220/226 range if staying with a stockish engine....keep up the vids...
You can’t resize them in the traditional way. Usually to resize a rod you machine the cap face down and then re bore it. With fractured rods you have to just bore it bigger and use a bearing with a larger OD
M93. Well it's not all bad when there's a sizable set of parts to re-purpose then ! Have a think about re-building into an LS V8 square engine of 402ci in capacity, as that should translate to the targeted real world +400 brake horsepower gain ? V.
@@MindieJ M93. Been there - done that from throwing a rod through the block of a 300K Rover alloy V8 dude ! Short block replacement was twice the price paid for the whole truck mista ? V.
