Bought a brand new one in 1983. Loved that bike. Just the same but instead of the green, mine was light blue. I had an 4-1 winning performance. Great sound.
This is a beautiful piece of work, but why bother? Yes it was a great engine, but the package was crap-uncomfortable with lousy handling. The GSX1100ESD was in a different league. I know because I owned both of the them. I'm not convinced bike engines have come on much since then. You don't need more than 100hp for riding on public roads (unless you've a good funeral plan). The engine gave 60 mpg easy if you took it steady. The only other variables are comfort and handling.
I know this is an old post. Buddy you really know how to be a killjoy. We all know that many bikes from that era handled like shit. You actually had to ride them. It’s a great good looking bike. Relax pal.
I had one . Bloody dangerous . Those brakes were just inadequate for a machine of such power and weight . The handling was terrible as well . You could never relax on this thing even at low speeds incase you found yourself in the wrong line for a corner . If you did it was too late to correct it and on three occasions I found myself on the wrong side of the road . The only thing this monster was good for was Drag Racing.

Big muscle bikes will always have an appeal. Excellent restoration. Hoping my Katana restoration comes up as good.

I have a 1983 1100gs and I wish it would run not happy with it I wish I could sale it
Fix it and enjoy it. Or send it this way.
