But we forget the one important thing in music. Playing with soul. Feeling every note. Creating the ambiance. I really love this guy. Mad respects to you phil.

I see Vinnie Paul pretty often here in Dallas. He owns a gentleman's club called the CLUBHOUSE. He is there pretty often just hanging out with fans and customers. :-)
We actually recorded our EP album 5 days before they recorded Cowboys From Hell, for Atco Records, at their studio in Pantego, Texas. While we were mixing, they were setting up the studio. Darrell and Vinnie hung out several times to give their 2 cents on the mix. Their dad, Jerry, was doing our recording and mixing. Jerry Abbott "The Elden" was GREAT! We had to come back to the studio many times for all kinds of paperwork and art work approval. Jerry showed us the contracts they had sign, cover art ideas and the guys let us sit in while they recorded. At the time nobody had any idea what was about to happen next. They were just 4 cool guys who wanted to be rock stars and they did it! RIP Darrell and Vinnie.

He did the same thing for Darrells brother, Vinnie Paul, after he died. Thank you Phil! For years I've been struggling to find my sound. Although I can do sweeps, tapping, and legato ect. something was missing in my playing. When my friend told me about Pantera I was floored. Mouth for War was the first solo I ever heard from Dimebag, and I found what I was looking for. What you said about soul and passion, that's what I've been missing . Thank you again! RIP Dimebag .Thank you as well.
It's good that he respects the guy. This is one of the bands that every piece was important to its success. Phil had that voice nobody can duplicate without blowing out their voice in 2 songs. Dimebag was such a riff monster, definitely a Eddie fan, would redub his riffs sometimes 8 times, Vinnie was so in the pocket and Rex was known for never missing a note and making a mistake. He never had to noodle to cover for anything. The band was the perfect metal band ever.
I'm a 14 y/o and my dad turned me on to pantera when I was 5 this band has got me through every miserable day in my life, if it wasn't for you guys I would have been up there watching Dimebag make his guitar sing a long time ago. 19 years later...I always come back to listen and read the greatness around Dime. Changed my relationship with music and therefore my life. He wasn't just a shredding guitar player and all this drunken stoner BS. He had so much passion for music and was just a huge fan himself. A totally humble, true, and hilarious guy that was living his dream🙏🤘🎸
Dimebag wanted to get Pantera back together. I believe it was his guitar tech who said he wasn't happy with Damageplan and wanted to do whatever it took to get the 4 back together.
I never was happy with anything damageplan came up with honestly. The riffs just didn't work like they did with Pantera. I don't know what happened but he lost some vital element with that band.

Thank you Phil! For years I've been struggling to find my sound. Although I can do sweeps, tapping, and legato ect. something was missing in my playing. When my friend told me about Pantera I was floored. Mouth for War was the first solo I ever heard from Dimebag, and I found what I was looking for. It's good that he respects the guy. This is one of the bands that every piece was important to its success. Phil had that voice nobody can duplicate without blowing out their voice in 2 songs. Dimebag was such a riff monster, definitely a Eddie fan, would redub his riffs sometimes 8 times, Vinnie was so in the pocket and Rex was known for never missing a note and making a mistake. He never had to noodle to cover for anything. The band was the perfect metal band ever.
I'm a 14 y/o and my dad turned me on to pantera when I was 5 this band has got me through every miserable day in my life, if it wasn't for you guys I would have been up there watching Dimebag make his guitar sing a long time ago. R.I.P. Dimebag and may PANTERA live on through people like all of us for eternity

As someone that was never fond of Pantera, and became VERY VERY VERY VERY fond of them, every single damn thing he said about Dimebag, is 100% true. You just have to feel it in your soul. CFH forever!
19 years later...I always come back to listen and read the greatness around Dime. Changed my relationship with music and therefore my life. He wasn't just a shredding guitar player and all this drunken stoner BS. He had so much passion for music and was just a huge fan himself. A totally humble, true, and hilarious guy that was living his dream🙏🤘🎸

Dimebag wanted to get Pantera back together. I believe it was his guitar tech who said he wasn't happy with Damageplan and wanted to do whatever it took to get the 4 back together.
I never was happy with anything damageplan came up with honestly. The riffs just didn't work like they did with Pantera. I don't know what happened but he lost some vital element with that band.

It was something to do with some beef between Vinnie Paul and Phil Anselmo. Vinnie just wouldn't have anything to do with Phil. He wouldn't even let him come to Dimebag's funeral.

I had my pantera albums on random when walking home from practice a while back. "The Sleep" came on and I got goosebumps. That solo is so great. What a talented man Dimebag was. Rest in Peace.
