@@uv77mc85 there are more technical guitar player out there, so calling him the greatest is a joke, btw every musician put soul and heart in there music so phil anselmo's is wrong, very wrong
@@hanzo2238 He made his mark. What more can you ask? as i said try his warm ups, they will fuck your fingers up
@@hanzo2238 no...they don't...go listen to death metal, black metal, ALOT of virtuoso players....no soul...and yes dime was the greatest...and that can be said because about 85 to 90% of all these metal guitarists all quote to saying Dimebag was a huge influence from his riffs all the way down to his TONE...man used solid states and sounded meaner than 99% nowadays lol
As someone that was never fond of Pantera, and became VERY VERY VERY VERY fond of them, every single damn thing he said about Dimebag, is 100% true. You just have to feel it in your soul. CFH forever!
19 years later...I always come back to listen and read the greatness around Dime. Changed my relationship with music and therefore my life. He wasn't just a shredding guitar player and all this drunken stoner BS. He had so much passion for music and was just a huge fan himself. A totally humble, true, and hilarious guy that was living his dream🙏🤘🎸

Dimebag wanted to get Pantera back together. I believe it was his guitar tech who said he wasn't happy with Damageplan and wanted to do whatever it took to get the 4 back together.
I never was happy with anything damageplan came up with honestly. The riffs just didn't work like they did with Pantera. I don't know what happened but he lost some vital element with that band.
@@2free2snakes Maybe what he lost was his home and family in the band. Hard to play right, if every note feels like it needs other people that aren't there.
It was something to do with some beef between Vinnie Paul and Phil Anselmo. Vinnie just wouldn't have anything to do with Phil. He wouldn't even let him come to Dimebag's funeral.
The new Exhorder album “Mourn the Southern Skies” is way better than that Damageplan album for that similar style imo.
He didn’t want to play small gigs anymore
He feels about Dimebag like I feel about my cat. He.. was the..best.. kitty.....in his voice tho lol
I love hearing Phil tell stories. Thanks Phil!

You know Darrell that whiskey isn't gonna help me right now, but it did 😂
Dude I read this right as Phil saying it. That's metal
@Lori Hanks on heavy heroin abuse crysis??? Hell no ma'm, you need opiates, only they can help you get over the crysis, or you can go cold turkey and shit your pants while vomiting in bathtub and you are drewling from all holes. So it didn't helped Phil, he pumped this one a bit
@INTOtheVOID11 you tard he was on it 'most' of his career, his words. He's now on meds and whatnot and still kicking!
"He can make his guitar talk" ~ perfect tribute.
Dimebag is just indescribable he is incredible. I wish I could just hug him. Influencing a lot of people myself included.
That is why he is the metal God that he is. The whole band are legends. True legends never die.
Call him what you will, this still has to be the greatest personal account of Dimebag, because he's right about every single bit of it.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Amen!

I had my pantera albums on random when walking home from practice a while back. "The Sleep" came on and I got goosebumps. That solo is so great. What a talented man Dimebag was. Rest in Peace.
+Simon Carlsson the solo that makes everyone fall in love with dimebag, even people who don't even listen to metal...
Such a damn good solo. Not sure if your privy to a little jewel by the name of "We'll Meet Again"...if not, it was a tune from the seminal PanterA album dubbed 'Power Metal'. Anyways, that solo is another goosebump-inducing endeavor.
+Simon Carlsson absolutely, the sleep + floods
Simon Carlsson man thats awesome i know exactly what your talking about i remember the first time i really really heard the sleep and damn that solo has something else in it im not even sure how to explain it but i was blown away too. so i thought that was cool you put that. your the first person i seen to talk about that song cheers man

I was never really into Pantera or Dimebag aside from several songs but it sounds like Dimebag was the embodiment of what people see metalheads as.
