On an intro flight over 50 yrs. ago, an instructor headed a 150 into a 40kt wind, put it into slow flight, and told me to look at the road below. Yep, we were going backwards and I was hooked on flying.
Good job! Amazing what can be done with the C-150. During flight training, my instructor had me in a 60 kt headwind in slow flight - actually created almost 5 kt reverse speed. Freaked me out a bit watching the ground go in the wrong direction.
Hi Tim I started my PPL with a C150. Do you think I need a pro checklist for it? like Pooleys or AFE or It is better to use the one from my flight instructor also if it is only one paper? Thank you so much
N 1968 I landed my uncle's 1938 Cub going backwards... It was that or fly 40 miles to someplace where the wind MIGHT be different. H etold me to kill the engine, ailerons into the wind while he jumped out and pulled us by the prop to the barn
Another 15 knots an you might have had it. Maybe at 6000? I broke a personal speed record last week. I have no problem going 0 but it is not often I get a helicopter up to 190 mph.
With a stall speed of 42kts/48mph in a C-150 common sense dictates a winds aloft of AT LEAST that speed will dictate if you're experiment will work or not.... NICE little Vid at any rate...
Uhmm. I think he's got the airplane under control enough to handle stall recovery at 5000'. I never heard a stall warning so I'm assuming he could have safely flown slower. Airspeed control is exactly the thing you practice at a safe altitude.

When I was a student at Embry-Riddle in the 80's we flew backwards, very windy day. That was in a cessna 172.

Thanks! I've always flown 172s but I can't believe how fun the 150 is! Hopefully I can get some headwinds like yours soon and try again.
Gotta love the 150! Good job!
Well done. this is the funnest flying you can do
I did this in my primary flight training. Pretty cool video!
Yeah, full flaps and slip, either right or left.During the 70s ,all kinds of room up there to do a lot.Loved to spin.
My flight instructor did the same thing to me. Slow flight and strong head wind. It was fun. I would love to own a 150
Nice job that was cool. I wonder what it looked like from the ground looking up at your plane! Love 150s
Used to fly out of Skypark, now out of CGF and BKL.
Hi Tim

We used to get two 140s in the air in Oklahoma (on a typical OK day) an have backward races.
Very cool. I fly out of KBKL.
Hey Tim..I really like the angles you get in your videos. Where and how are you mounting your recording device for the POV footage?
Thanks Kapil! In this vid I'm using a GoPro Hero 4 and their head strap mount.

Hovering a 150 😆😆😆 Great job!!!
Medina county Ohio?
Can this be done on a Boeing 757?

Easy, you must fly the with a 150mph tailwind!
How much did you pay per hour for these 150s that you rented? Thank you !
I believe around $90 wet
Thank you !
$9.75 an hour wet...but that was in 1970.
All your data your talking about is in the Formula
ie., CLHALFEROWVSQUAREDS

This 150 has a few goodies on it that bring stall speeds into the mid/upper 30 kts. Thanks for watching
Tim Walker ...STOL equipped 150 with stall fences and flap-gap seals...?
And his next trick , stall , flat spin and impact terrain like many before him .
Angus McErvale cute, thanks Anus
Tim Walker😂😂😂😂
