What a gem of a channel this is. Dunno if your first video was actually a first video but every time you upload I’m GLUED to the screen. Just wait till it retracts from my running and turns into more mid video snacking 😂
Ah thanks a lot, that’s awesome to hear! This used to be my music channel back in the day but switched it up with the running content recently. More snacking = more running… simple 😂
Amazing content mate, keep it coming. Respect for getting out there and grinding the running, motivates me. Also ending with 'Lets go' instead of 'Registered speedophile' was a good move :D
Cheers man 🙌 This actually used to be my music channel back in the day, had 25k subs already when I started the running vids recently so not quite as impressive!
@@RanToJapan haha, yea that makes more sense. Mind you, for running UA-camrs 2k subs in 4 weeks is still mega impressive. I can see that shooting up over time as you’ve got a unique running channel. Keep ‘em coming 🙌
Great vid! Just subscribed! Please do more!! More on (running) culture, daily live (apartment tour?), food,.... Also, did you leave your gels and drinks on a park bench just like that?
Cheers, plenty more vids to come! Yeah in Japan it’s ridiculously safe, I can leave my phone and wallet on a bench while running and they’ll still be there a couple hours later!
What a beast! Only the discipline ones are free in life. You will achieve all your goals, I am sure of it. I would love to run with you one day. Come run the Berlin marathon next year mate!
I love your videos! Really entertaining yet so motivating!! I as a 48-year-old ojisan, I have decided to throw caution in the wind and bump up my weekly mileage and get my legs smashed for marathon glory😂😂😂
Really enjoying your videos. We are from the UK and lived in Tokyo from 2020 to 2022. Lots of familiar spots. Have you or do you ever run around Komazawa Park?
Oh awesome, I still need to explore lots of parts of Tokyo - it’s just too big! It’s a bit far to get to Komazawa park from mine but I’ve defo gotta check it out at some point
Have you come across Yuki Kawauchi yet? I believe he trains and lives in Saitama but...if you meet him you have to make a video about meeting the legend! Love your videos man and enjoy following your bonkers-level training on Strava. Remember - head lamp is a must!! 🔦
Met him at a race last year and had a brief chat - absolute legend, I’ve rewatched his run at Boston so many times. Would be unreal to get a vid with him! Head torch, check 🫡
Another BANGER! I recently started running again, doing a couch 2 5k. Biggest problem is every time i pick up the pace my somewhere in my left abdomen starts cramping up! Wondering if you have any advice for that
Hmm could be a fuelling/nutrition thing? Either dehydration (that’s caused me abdominal pain before) or eating too close to running? Do you run in the morning or evening and are you eating before?
@@orangetwelve3462 they’re literally just a cheap energy bar like a shortbread biscuit consistency! There’s a cheese flavour one but I go for chocolate normally

@@RanToJapan I don't have a toaster either, for years been dry toasting my bread in a pan, works just fine, you don't need a toaster just keep an eye on it ;)
Great content! Have you ever tried yokan, the sweet red paste jelly? Many Japanese endurance athletes swear by it. It's dirt cheap (esp. in supermarkets), packs a bunch of calories (mostly carbs, but some protein too), and is super light. By the way, if you ever come to Osaka, I can suggest some routes, even if I'm mostly a trail runner (and slow AF).
Actually don’t think I’ve had that, I’m a big fan of red bean tho I’ll give it a go for sure. Sounds like a perfect pre-run carb boost! I ran around Osaka castle and the nearby river before but yeah I’d defo back a trail route next time 🔥

Runners from Hong Kong, support to your channel and can’t wait to see you hit a new PB in running!
Thanks a lot! 🇭🇰
Amazing Channel, keep doing an amazing work and content !
Super nice videos you do. Rare to see so high quality on such a new channel 😊
Appreciate it!
Great content , great storytelling !
I'm fiending for some Ks too!! Great vid, keep them coming!
27k subs in 4 weeks! Really? Well, I can see why… great stuff mate. My jaw dropped at the crazy mileage and the casual 2:25 marathon! Subbed 👍

hi i love your content, always waiting for new videos, keep it up mate!!!!!
Mate, these are some great videos. Crazy to see that you only just recently started making them. Keep them up! Great content 💪

Such a cool video!!
What about race day breakfast? Dont wanna feel heavy while running
Had a couple slices of bread, some of those chewy rice balls and an energy bar before the marathon today. Seemed to sit pretty nicely 👌
Thank you!! I usually eat some fruit but rice is definitely a new one
Great video! Keep up the great running. Stay safe.
Thanks! 🙌

A 50k day keeps the doctor away🤣Love the videos!
You're one of my idol now
Cooking looking good!
Needs more beige but can't complain about the quantity.
Far too much flavour & seasoning… if only I could get beans on toast here
I'm so pleased to see that I'm eating the right number of calories for a 250km a week runner 😏
The eating is half of the challenge so you’re pretty much there!
Hello thanks for sharing your journey. I was wondering if you do some stretching during the week and how many times?
Thanks
A couple times a week (I showed my stretching routine in my 2nd vid on this channel) but I put more of an emphasis on S&C, core and plyometrics
@ Thanks for your quick reply. I’ll go and check it out 😁😁. I feel really tense if I don’t stretch everyday, but I guess it’s also the age 😅

@RanToJapan I'm running first thing in the morning
what a good video.
Do you do strength training for your calves? Do you think that would help? Might be worth it to see a physio about it if you haven't already. 🤔
Yeah non-stop S&C and regular physio, as I said I’ve tried it all! Seems to be going well at the moment so maybe getting somewhere
If you have time a video about Japanese energy gels would be very interesting.
Yeah I’ll try to mention them in a vid soon

Kimchi scrambled eggs, BOSHHHHH
Holy fuck that bento box, im so jealous. We don't have such cheap lunches here...
After this vid, the kimchi scrambled egg will be the next food craze, truuust me! You can’t beat the value for money in Japan 🔥
Thanks really enjoyed the video! How much S&C // Recovery do you do for your achilles // calf ?
Cheers! 1-2 hrs/day of general S&C/recovery and more specific calf stuff when it flares up
@@RanToJapan Thank you! So like calf raises and foam rolling etc for the more specific stuff?
@@TheCodeOverflow yeah exactly, those are the main things!
What is your take on whey protein and other supplement capsule etc? Thanks
Don’t use protein, find it messes up my stomach so just stick to natural sources. The supplements I take are vit c & d, fish oil and magnesium
How is ur shoe rotation and what is the max mileage for ur daily trainer before you retire them. Anyway, another superb video!
Aim for 800km for all my shoes!

nice
Curious how much do you spend on food a month?!
Just tried calculating and I reckon around ¥20,000 per week… that’s basically the same as my rent 😂
What was your job before you went to Japan?
I graduated uni then did a few months in a school as an English tutor before coming here
