a little hint to those with a jetta (or other euro car). the constant and acc are reversed in the wiring. so in your wiring kit... flip those two. took me a good 10 minutes searching to figure this out.

JxC It's really not that difficult. All the wiring for a head unit is generic. I can't solder to save my life so I use connector blocks and I haven't had a fail in the past 10 years

Look up your car on Google.
Example: 2008 Subaru Legacy Stereo Wiring
Go to Walmart, buy the install kit, head unit, and the Wiring harness. Plug in the harness and connect all the wires (yellow to yellow, blue to blue, etc.) I used Twist crimps. Stick two wires in, Twist, and you're good.

Its easier to buy pre made adapters and they aren't too much from ebay. If you want to play videos while driving all you need to do is connect the handbreak cable to any earth cable or even tape it to the metal side of the headunit.

Pioneer has the smallest capacitators, so your long THIN wires will drop the voltage when you play at high volume.
You should at least bypass the negative wire from the harness and create your own much thicker wire.
I have auto start/stop on my Lopu 3L and my radio kept turning off shortly when the engine restarted at crosssections.
A small capacitator 3 wires and a diode cleared that and gave me better sound too.
Dont know about JVC, but the thin long wires will drop the voltage.

you don't have to put the GPS antenna on the dash, as long as you're dash isn't metal reinforced. Sometimes behind and above the passenger airbag or above you're instrument cluster is a good spot. And you don't have to wire the hand brake signal to the handbrake, you can wire it just to ground, so you can do some changes to you're navigational route or let the passenger watch a movie while you are driving...

i work as a mechanic i used to always solder using a gas cordless soldering iron
i was rewiring connections when one of my work mates distracted me for a few seconds at which point i burnt my hand dropping the solder iron underneath the drivers seat it made a mess of the carpet
ever since then ive cripped all my wire connections it's simpler, safer and gives a better lasting connection
    though is more expensive

Opel Omega. I think it's called Opel in Europe, and Vauxhall in UK and some other countries ? Not really sure, all I know for sure is they are called Opel Omega over here. I don't think theres space to mount anything other than a standard style CD player. In the newer versions (Facelift versions, from year 2000 and up) I think it works though. Too bad they are pretty expensive. I just might hack out the dash and fit one anyway though

Or just simply take out the new stereo from the box take apart the dash, take out the old stereo match up the new wires with the ones in the car butt connect them make sure the red, yellow, black are connected first. After that just simply put everything back in tune your stereo and your good to go.

It let's you watch video all the time. The parking brake switch grounds the warning light on the dash to illuminate it, the warning light is live (positive) with the ignition on. The head unit uses this switch to find a ground, when there is no ground the head unit knows that you're driving and cuts video.

Maybe I can fit the center console from a facelift version or something like that, or I just might hack out enough space to mount one. They do make headunits that mount in the same space as an ordinary CD player with a touch screen that kinda "folds" out, might look into getting one of those. Not as nice, but they work

2:10 Disconnect the positive, not the negative since if for some reason you ground something to a metal part you'll still fry stuff and injure yourself..

i think there are not thatr much din or double din radio slots left...
on the one side there is ford who left the din slots before 2000 and most other (newer) cars, build about the last 5 years dont have them. maby its other in the USA, but i´m from germany and it is very hard to find a radio fitting good into your slot if you like the way your dashboarsd looks (if you like it clean and original as i do)
