@@theherbpuffer You are absolutely correct. I never got to see Rory, but I did catch Roy Buchanon one time. Best blues man I ever saw. Rory's performance was always electric, he brought a lot of energy to his shows. Roy was laid back
I SAW JOHNNY WINTER AT THE ATLANTA POP FESTIVAL IN 69-70.I SAW J.W. & E.W. AT WEST PALM BEACH FESTIVAL.THERE WAS NEVER NOTHING QUITE LIKE IT AND NEVER WILL BE AGAIN.BLUES IN IT'S PUREST FORM.
I saw Johnny Winter - believe it or not, supporting Stevie Ray and Jimmy Vaughan - at the Hordern Pavilion, Sydney Australia, 1986... he played well, but I remember being disappointed because he was playing the Steinberg 'Stick' - I wanted to see the reverse Firebird!
Great video...imagine actually being there..a small room with Johnny and Edgar..tho he changed them out later,,the bass and drummer were excellent in this band.imho,,I wish I were there...Thanks..........DH
I bought the double album which only had 3 sides & a blank when i was a teenager Sometimes i find myself tapping my feet to that simple drum beat, why is that, I'm now 64 years old
This is really amazing footage, the original trio plus Edgar, and the quality so good that it feels as if you're in the same room. Fantastic, is there anymore of this?
Just ran across this. AMAZING!!! Johnny was the first concert I ever went to. The Johnny Winter Live tour at the Fox Theater in Atl '76. I saw him play 23 more times after that. BTW, love the Weasels Ate My Flesh avatar. Favorite Zappa album.
Master blues monster, Johnny Slip and Slide Winter, showing off his wicked, tight rhythm section and Edgar's perfect, articulate response to the moment.
@@harolddburke4726 He's one of my all time fav's I could have seen back in the day and didn't. He was one of my guitar heroes when I started playing guitar back in 1975. One of the best compliments I ever got at an open mic almost 40 yrs later, was when another long time guitarist told me I sounded like him...
@unviciouscircle Hey, unviciouscircle, I believe that it me, following you today. I saw Johnny in Pittsburgh at Three Rivers Stadium in a really big Concert venue on July 19, 1975. I believe that I would have enjoyed this atmosphere much better. You go now, I will catch up after another listen.
When it came to the blues nobody was at their level. Johnny and Edgar. The Gods of the blues. Nothing like it since.
Rory Gallagher my friend
Edgar sucked. But Johny was pretty good. RIP.
, the epitome of chill. So sad their both gone. But today we have TTB, and Christone Kingfish, and Samantha Fish so I ain't crying.
Peace.

I assume you mean "blues rock". Otherwise...
Nothing like a clean sounding guitar in the hands of a master.

Firebird, Lazer,Les Paul. It didn't matter. He played the snot out of em.
Edgar could make a saxophone sound like a guitar, and actually play together with Johnny Winter. RIP Johnny.

Supporting...? Or opening because both bands agreed? It was the case, x example, tour SRV with Joe cocker

I too bought that 3 sided album years ago...Second Winter....I still rattle the windows with it!!! 😎Its still incredible. Nobody plays like Johnny.

Effortlessly ripping blues licks was Johnny winter.
Too bad for Dennis Hopper < he missed out .THIS should've been part of the "Easy Rider" soundtrack.
WOW...this is something SERIOUS...LIVE
One of my favorite tunes by Johnny Winter
WOW...this is something!
it never was this good again. wonderful.long live johnny winter.
Master blues monster, Johnny Slip and Slide Winter, showing off his wicked, tight rhythm section and Edgar's perfect, articulate response to the moment.
Absolutely outstanding Blues 💙🎶‼️🎸🔥🔥

Amazing
@stalbansrecords agreed! he even wound up with Johnny's bass player.
A real master giving us a taste of his craft
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! Such great memories...
where on earth did you get this footage?!! This is unbelievable!
The DVD ''Johnny Winter Live Through The 70s'' is where you will find it, I'm all but certain. I have ''Through the 80s'' and it's excellent.
Looked like you needed a special invite to attend this show. Great to listen to Johnny. Never saw these until posted on UA-cam. Gotta love it.

The audience is so stiff and unresponsive, this had to have been recorded in northern Europe. Probably Germany or Denmark.

A real pleasure to see this video:))
Johnny and Edgar in amazing era
Thanks for sharing !!!
Cara suavidade de som
GEM
sounds ok with the 56 goldtop, but sounds much better with the reverse firebird and a wah wah.
For sure
I'm happy now
... just on a hope... anybody get the words after "'I'm a fast life rider...." ??? Been dogging me all my life... :)
Early video. 1968?
rare JW playing a LP
aces
JW playing a Les Paul.
No effects
Johnny should have left Edgar and that damn horn at home!
Nah us Texans love our horn sections
nono, that sax is cool as h.... the rythms and everything.
He's as white as it gets... He broke the myth that you have to be black to play and sing real blues
SRV ripped off his whole trip from Johnny, that cat didn't have an original idea in his head!
Dave Furgess ridiculous. They’re both great. But Stevie has an entirely different original style.
You got that right, Lonesome Dave!
what a bad drummer - out of sync and rythm....
Idiot
???
What I think the drummer is really good
The video is not correct. I cant find any problems with the drummer.
Its Uncle John Turner.
