I was lucky enough to see Johnny Winter perform at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City Missouri in. 1981, and lucky enough to get his Autograph he has been my favorite musician for over 55 years, God bless Johnny Winter and his bands.....😊
I've seen hiim Three times, first at Harpo's in Detroit, second at Callahan's in Auburn hills where I was ten feet from him and once at pine knob with Rick Derringer and Edgar Winter
Johnny is in his best form here, but he continues to play like a master. He is a kick ass guitar master. One of the best, and with considerably more heart than the best guitarist of today.
One of the great songs from Saints and Sinners - fantastic album - still listen to it doing the housework when the wife is out as she didn't grow up with Johnny Winter. Thanks for the video.
Great album, Saints n' Sinners. Still have it. Seen Johnny 3 or 4 times. Back in the 70s, several of the same bands would blow through Nashville while on tour. Johnny, Edgar Winter Group, Yes, Foghat, BOC, etc. And we thought those days would last forever. RIP Brother Johnny...
It is a great album. Yeah, in a way, we really didn’t think the good times would end. I live in Connecticut and they all came through due to a wonderful concert promoter. Johnny’s final resting place is here. Maybe someday I’ll visit and leave flowers. There’s a short video on UA-cam on his gravesite. Peace Johnny.☮️🎸🕊️

Timothy Cline yes but I will always believe that the best work done by the Winter, Hobbs, Hughes team was "Still Alive and Well"... that tour was just nuts. Saw that show when ZZ Top backed them up with no beard nonsense and in flannel shirts.
JOHNNY WINTER "Stone County"~ I traveled forty miles of back wood Running from the county man Just broke from the Stone County Prison And I'm never goin' back again Gonna make my way from Stone County Try to catch the Santa Fe I can hear her whistle callin' me Just a half a mile away I left my home down in Texas Seven long years ago I remember my mom on my daddy's arm Sittin' in the back of lawn I'm gonna run till I die from Stone County Gotta catch the Santa Fe I can hear her whistle callin' me About a half a mile away I'm a Stone County wanted man I'm a Stone County wanted man Well, I'm a wanted man, now in Texas Even down Mexico way Ya know they want me in Stone County Prison But Lord, they'll never see that day I'm gonna make my way from Stone County Try to catch the Santa Fe Oh, I can hear her whistle callin' me About a half a mile away I'm a Stone County wanted man I'm a Stone County wanted man I'm a Stone County wanted man I'm a Stone County wanted man Stone county wanted man I got a money, I gotta money And I'm a Stone County, Stone County Stone County wanted man I'm wanted man, I'm wanted man Gotta get away, gotta get away Gotta get away, gotta get away A Stone County, a Stone County ~
I first saw Johnny in 1975 at the Long Beach arena during the John Dawson winter tour it was only 16 at the time now I'm 62 I was a fan before 75 but I couldn't get to the concerts cuz I was only in junior high in my opinion Johnny's best drummer was Richard Hughes just listen to Stone county
The albino Abe Lincoln sporting a white Firebird. Saw this line-up in Toronto in 73 touring the Still Alive & Well album. Awesome stuff. Johhny's tone and playing is top-notch here.
Really great video of that 'glam era'. Saints & Sinners was a great (and still is) album ...BTW if you don't have the LP you miss out on a cool liner sleeve photo of Johnny.
when he played this live it sure sounded different from the recorded version that Rick Derringer added so many production to especially the sweet female vocals
This was a great band - but Johnny Winter's bandmates often seem to end up hooked on Heroin or Dead. Randy Jo Hobb was a longtime Heroin addict who's addiction killed his music career and he died prematurely. Richard Hughes was a kick ass drummer - but killed himself in his mid-30's. Floyd Radford got out of the music business entirely. And Johnny Winter himself, was a 40+ year Methadone user - on top of later addictions to alcohol, downers and mood stabilizers. All while having a Manager that was ripping him off for decades. I read Johnny Winter's Autobiography, RAISIN' CAIN, and it was kind of sad - so much talent that was wasted and many lives self-destructed.
Saw the same line up in Hershey, Pa. Bolin had what looked like a black box setting on a stool in the middle of the stage. Sounded like jets flying indoors

Over 25 times? I humbly bow before you sir. 🤠

I heard about Johnny because he is my moms favorite musician, and now mine.
mama knows best.
Johnny has a lot of female fans. I learned that back in the 70's
Don't forget those crazy Hoosiers Randy Jo Hobbs and Rick Derringer. My mom grew up right around them.
Dont' forget Progressive Blues Experiment either!

love this song be always thought Johnny was the best I seen him one time wish I could have seen him in the 70s
In a three-man band playing live you see what the band is really made of.
I love all of Johnny's tunes but I'm really looking for these old rock n roll live shows like this album and another one called and
RIP you badass
Fuck yea miss Johnny Best gatar player ever

yeah, great band , but the "Johnny Winter And" lineup (1970-71) with Rick Derringer on guitar and vocals was the ultimate
this may have been recorded at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT
Yeah, I love this combo
I can hear her whistle calling me 'bout a half a mile away...
