Just picked up an 2006 Kia Sorento ex. Has everything this does except the leather interior. It's a beauty. Runs smooth at 107k miles for 3,800 dollars it was a bargain! Engine is very quiet. Love it already. Was kept in great care. Looks way newer still than an 06.
HuntaKiller yeah I even drove my sorento Kia model 2006 the best to keeping running amazing and elso oil changes in every 3 to 6 months plus. Checking inside engine as if needs to keeping it running longer .
It IS body on frame (ladder frame) construction. Just had my 2008 2.5L turbo diesel's motor rebuilt and a new turbo fitted, all new bushings, 2 inch lift, alloy three hoop bull bar fitted and I've got a 4 hour flight and a four day drive ahead of me to bring it home. Diesel costs about 60% what the V6 does in fuel on long trips, less horsepower but nearly double the torque. On the trail going slow and pulling hard they're roughly the same with the diesel still being in front.
This the best generation of the Sorrento, I think. It's the best looking for sure, with it's clean, taut lines and well-designed interior. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that KIA out-sourced the design to an Italian design house. It's JUST the right size too. This is def a body-on-frame SUV, NOT a crossover as the video stated. The interior is thankfully NOT the overly-styled video-game arcade as they became after Peter Schreyer took over. I just found one of these used with only 92k for $8500 ;) Talk about an absolute STEAL for a used SUV!
1970borntorun cant believe these legend costs around $3000-4000 in my country now used..is it a gud deal?Or shud i just get the 2011 model for $12k-15000 used
crysisownz Well, it really comes down to your priorities. The first generation is a good value on the used market and the newer generations have more features/amenities and are also a good value.
Avoid the 3.8 v-6, it has a major problem with the crankshaft pulley bolt being undersized for the application and it breaks unexpectedly and causes much front exterior engine damage. I see KIA did not honor "driveline" warranty claims to repair this for their customers. Stick with the 3.3. It has good power for the vehicle and is much more reliable.
Kustu I wouldn't. I would prefer the 3.5 V6 but it was replaced by a 3.3 V6 for Europe in 2007 with a higher power output, which was a very weak and poorly built engine (for example switching to aluminium, but it wasn't a very durable engine). The diesel isn't that bad, the turbo and the technique was. I think the engine was a Mercedes engine. But I prefer gasoline (petrol) regardless.
@@kustu first gen with a 2.4 gas engine? Where can I find info? Mine is 3.5. But for some reason I want to know if that 2.4 might be based on the mitsu 4g69/3 engine.
It’s a body on frame base truck Suv from 2003 all the way to 2009! The 2003 and 2004 and some 2005 had some issues with the crankshaft pulley bolt breaking! Other than that a good solid body on frame suv and good offroader! I have the 2003 kia sorento ex with 4x4 torque on demand i had the crankshaft pulley bolt breaking on me I drilled the crankshaft made new threads and used a ford f150 crankshaft bolt never had a problem again!!
@@bugayev i have to drill the crankshaft and re-thread it in order to use the f-150 crankshaft bolt! Also used red thread lock ( loctite) since i did that it is a bulletproof truck! I have the 2007 kia sorento 3.8l 4x4. I have had it for 3 years. The only thing I havent changed out on this car is the transmission and transfer case...
I like this Sorento very much. But I would change the Front Lights to the Facelift Version and I prefer the Turbodiesel with 170 HP, because it has much Power of Torque 😎 The Panoramicroof is a #Musthave. Kids(and I 😏) will love it.
Eeeeeehhhh! Straight out the gate giving incorrect information! This is body on frame construction, which is the main thing that makes these so stout, durable and handy off-road... If you are going to post car reviews, make sure you do your research and have your facts straight. I’m Out!

Do you still have it? How is it holding up?
Still runs great at 126,00k 🎉
I have the same car. 136,000 miles runs great still.
@@joeproso7mine is at 138k miles now. Still running good. How’s yours doing?
not a crossover dude! get your facts straight,it's a body on frame base on truck platform dude all the way up to 2009....
.
It is built on a truck platform. Has ladders underneath.
Aside from the mistake of saying it wasn’t body-on-frame (it was), it’s a very thorough review. Thanks.
Practically i can buy this car 10times and still not get bored..its really that reliable just like the 06 harrier if u really maintained it well

it actually is a true suv,it's a body on frame vehicle
Did you look under it? It is a body on frame. Its practically a 2nd gen montero.

Do you still have it? Was it a good vehicle?
I still keep it because it is powerful and really four-wheel drive, but it consumes high fuel and its engine maintenance is somewhat complicated
Nice car, love it!Thank you for your reviews.
Well thank God we know bout the thigh support and just glossed over folding down the rear seats to show how much storage it potentially had.
I like this car. I'd prefer the 3.8L V6 with 262 HP.

booksyn it'd prefer the 2.5L CRDI diesel engine for this kind of car…
Doesn't give you too many horsepower, but *way* more torque

i like because is the best to compare with the mazda cx-7
This generation Sorento was a body on frame SUV whereas the Mazda is a uni body crossover. It did not compete with the CX-7 during that time.
You do not know what you're talking about. It's a body on frame, this is why this vehicle weighs 4500 lbs.
