*SPOILERS* Regarding Alex Wolff's crying. His character, Peter, was traumatized beyond belief. He had not only heard the sickening smack and rip of his sister's head being ripped off, but he felt responsible. His mother forcing her to go aside, it was Peter who made her eat the cake, and it was Peter who was driving. Then, in the morning, he hears his mom downstairs talking. He hears her saying she's leaving somewhere. He knows that she's about to find the gruesome remains of his sister. And when she does, her screams are bone-chilling and sickening.
The camera stays on Peter's face, as he is stuck in this moment, a moment I believe he was stuck in for the majority of the film. By the end, when he's in the attic and his mom is banging on the door to get in, he's screaming, "Please stop, mommy!" and sobbing like a frightened toddler. His trauma was causing him to revert to a child-like state, as it had been throughout the movie..
I've seen documentaries on the horrors of war, and soldiers would talk about seeing their friends dying, crying like children, and screaming out for their mommy. I specifically remember this one soldier, trying to get through his story, breaking down. He said his friend had half of his face blown off, his eye was hanging down his cheek, and he was sobbing and saying in a hushed voice, "I'm sorry, momma. I didn't mean to make you cry. I won't do it again. I love you, momma." Within minutes, he was dead. I can't even imagine how horrible that was to witness and have to carry around with you for the rest of your life.
In context with the film itself, I think his crying was perfect. I was traumatized a bit, just from watching that scene. To actually LIVE that scene, to lose your little sister in such a horrific way, and to know it was because of you...well, there's only so much the human mind can take.

Everyone is so used to shit happening to character's and them being stoic about it that no one realizes one single fact: If you are a normal human being who isn't trained to kill or who isn't used to death, you will 100% be fucked up by it. Especially in the context of killing a loved one. I identified with every action peter took after the accident. When he first cried, I was like "seems fake" but a few seconds later, I realized something.
Peter had just watched true, actual paranormal activity, for the first time, and you could see him start to have a panic attack. And in the middle of his attack, his mother started talking like the sister that he had killed, with all the context built up.
"Make it stop! Make it fucking stop!" Is all he said at that point. I'll never forget how he said it, either. It was pure, unbridled fear in his voice. And then, after Annie was normal again, he started crying as all of what had happened to him actually hit. If I was in that situation, I wouldn't be fucking crying silently, or screaming. I would be completely broken down. At that point of complete hysterics, any one person could cry like Annie did, or like Peter did, or silently. It wasn't bad acting, and I don't think Ari would have let that shit slide either. Alex did phenomenal with every other part of the movie. The accident, the attic, the ending, the dinner scene, the school scene. All of it was perfect acting. I am willing to bet money that Alex was told to cry like that to add subtext of him reverting to a more and more childlike state, and to give his character a layer of personality that was just slightly off from what most people would expect. Poor acting, maybe. Intentional acting? Most certainly.

THANK YOU! This is the best comment I've seen regarding his crying. When I saw this, everyone in my theater was howling with laughter every time he started crying except for me and the people I went with. We all found his crying to be uncomfortable to witness because it felt very real. People who find it funny or "bad acting" obviously don't understand what trauma can do to a person or how people in real life react to situations like these. Unfortunately I think movies have conditioned people to believe that shedding a single tear and then moving on when something horrific happens is what's normal.

I'm jealous! I'm in MD, pretty close to DC. I went on opening night and the crowd was awful. They were also making dick jokes and laughing hysterically when the naked people showed up, and basically through the entirety of the last 20 minutes they were either cracking up or screaming at the top of their lungs. Thankfully the movie had me so engrossed that it didn't ruin the experience completely for me, but man it would have been nice to have a good audience for this.

Gotta be honest, I am a huge fan of this film. I really am. I’m so not down with the ending. I hated it... I thought that everything about the film was so gripping and incredible, Toni Collette was ASTOUNDING in every way. Her scene with Joanie during the seance was absolutely amazing. Her fear and anxiety was palpable and it was so amazing. I just wasn’t with the devil demon shit. It took away from my ability to end that masterpiece of a journey that was Hereditary, on a good note. It just didn’t feel final and it didn’t feel fitting to me. I’m probably the only one, but whatever. Hereditary was haunting in every sense of the word. Props to the man who played Charlie and Peter’s dad. His narrative and his character in the film broke my heart. When he was driving home with Peter. Man. I could go on forever. Great film, absolutely great.

Well the devil demon thing is the only explanation why this family is fucked up tho,I think the Ending is a masterpiece itself because It was taking the POV from the cult, being succes to bring Paimon to Peter’s body. But yeah still,I also think the ending would be so weird for some people who don’t actually understand so I somewhat agree with your opinion.

    • @sportsmusic114
      @sportsmusic114 6 років тому +4

The director designed this ending very well. If you think about it, the whole film is so airtight that any other ending wouldn't have worked or made sense. From the very beginning of the film, the cult is already plotting their eventual demon summoning, I'm not sure what ending you would have preferred, but Ari Aster specifically has said that he wanted there to be some real, palpable ending, with real demons and a real curse, rather than just the typical cop-out ending of "It was actually all in their heads!!!!" He thought that kind of played out "twist" was exactly that, played out and stupid. To have the ending be real demons but also make it still fit with the rest of the movie so perfectly and maintain an artful level of purely disturbing horror, I think this ending was brilliant.
Also, to say that you wanted to end on a "good note" also defeats the purpose. This film is not happy one bit. It is grim, bleak, sad, depressing and horrifying from start to finish. There is not supposed to be a clean, happy, "we got the demon out yayyy!" kind of ending that most of today's horror has. It's ending was so tragic for a reason. Peter goes from being a typical teen just living his life to watching his whole family die and then having his body become a vessel for a demon king. It's incredibly sad and I never get that sad over horror films but I felt something for him at the end. That's good filmmaking. I am curious to know what ending you would have liked though.

The reason being that Steve lit on fire instead of Annie, according to Ari Aster himself is that Paimon the demon already occupying the house is known to be the god of mischief and Annie thinking she could sacrifice herself in order to save her family was just a cruel example on how it wasn't't her choice to decide in the first place, Ari also said that the family was inevitably doomed since the start and there was little to no chance that this wasn't going to be the family's fate.

AN EXPLANATION OF WHY STEVE LIT ON FIRE:
    **SPOILERS, YALL!!!**
So Paimon, being the King of mischief, played tricks on all the characters throughout the film:
Fooling Annie by using Joan to get her to "summon" Charlie when in reality, she was summoning Paimon into the house, fooling Steve into thinking Annie was going crazy the whole time, etc.
Since Annie tried throwing Charlie's sketchbook into the fire the first time, she had to pull it back out because she was starting to catch fire, so thinking if she got Steve to throw it in, Annie would combust into flames and end all the crazy events, so when Steve refused to throw it in ("you're sick, Annie! You need help!"), she threw it in thinking she'd be killing herself, but once again, Paimon killed Steve instead, leaving Annie at her most vulnerable so he could possess her and to hunt Peter shortly after.

I thought Steve being lit on fire rather than Annie was to maximize her trauma, thus making her all the more vulnerable for possession as she would blame herself in that moment, having expected herself to catch fire and instead having to watch the man she loved die such a horrible death. It was a calculated move on Piemon's part to fuck her up as much as possible.

    • @fraukeschmidt8364
      @fraukeschmidt8364 6 років тому +24

I thought it was because at this point, Paimon was controlling everything. Annie, by having the Seance, with her husband and son there, and inadvertently calling up Paimon instead of Charlie put Paimon in control. Hence all the drawings in Charlie's old notebook. And because Paimon still needed Annie, he let her notice her burning when she first tried to get rid of the book. So when Steve was present, he would have burnt, whether it was him or Annie throwing the book into the fire.

I think Hereditary was one of the most traumatizing films I've seen in a while. Normally, after watching a horror film, I can go to bed and just walk around the house at night just fine. But when I got home from watching Hereditary, i found myself being more wary of my surroundings. When I was going to bed, as soon as I turned off the light, I practically leaped into bed and hid under the covers. I was sitting up late reading a book yesterday and I found myself looking to the upper corners of my room just to be safe. I had to go on a fairly long drive at night the other day after visiting family that lived about an hour away. There were a few long, empty roads along the way and I found myself moving away from the window as **the scene** played over in my head. Hereditary really got into my head and was the first film in a very very long time to have done that.

I've heard horror stories (har har) about people seeing it at night in a full theatre and having the experience ruined for them by people laughing, clucking, or just making unnecessary noise. I really think this movie needs to be watched in silence and darkness. The silence of the theatre made every single moment all the more dread inducing. I love how shots lingered for what seemed like ages before we got the eventual payoff from whatever the actor was witnessing. The build up was torturous but so worthwhile in the end.

People don't realize that laughter is an autoresponse to relieve stress and make you feel better, so laughing in a film like this does not make you cool it means you're taking the easy way out by removing yourself from the experience of the film and others. If the film is well made and I can tell in the first few minutes how good the entire film will be, then I allow the experience to take place.

Peter’s crying was one of the most real things about his performance, if I had to choose, since most of his performance was stellar, but as I’ve seen others say, he reverts to a child-like emotive state, given the absolute terror and horror he’s witnessing at the time and what he’s already been through. This is like people dying on the battlefield who cry for their mothers...yes, some laughed, but if you truly think about that crying, it was very real...and, as you said, most real crying is not pretty to look at (AKA, the dreaded one single tear or pretty crying we normally see). Toni Collette is simply extraordinary...and this film, like you said, affected me in ways that few films ever have (The Exorcist, The Witch, etc). It has everything that I look for in horror...and I like the way you explained the bloody scenes...it wasn’t obligatory gore, but gross reality-type blood, like smacking his face on the desk. I have no complaints with this film at all...even the strange ending, which, I do concede, in a worse first 2 acts, wouldn’t have worked at all. Somehow, this first-time director found a way to combine all of the elements that make a horror film get under your skin in a way that almost no other films can.

I cannot say how much I loved this movie. Anyone who wants to say that Alex's crying was bad acting needs to watch the multiple scenes (especially "THE SCENE!!!") where he was absolutely phenomenal. The cinematography was beautiful. There was a huge chunk of the movie where I was full of tension waiting for a scare or something to release that built up tension... I waited and waited and waited and when it finally released it was instantly replaced with more tension about what is going to happen next. When THE SCENE happened I was in denial that it actually happened until the mom's scream the next morning. This movie was such an emotional rollercoaster as well. I wanted to cry at how well the actors made me feel for their characters; I felt like I was there. I wanted to run at times. I wanted to scream at a few places as well (I'm not afraid to admit that I was legit terrified at two to three places in this film). The mom played crazy perfectly; I wasn't sure the entire movie if she was just insane or was something actually happening. I can't wait to see it again. I feel like there are things that I missed that I'll pick up on with a second viewing (and getting to watch a horror movie twice and still be captivated is not something we get to do often). Great review; I'm really glad you liked it. It's on my list of top favorite horror movies!

Cielle Jargar -- I agree completely. I knew almost nothing going into this film, and I certainly wasn't prepared for this level of horror. I don't think that it was an absolutely "perfect" film, but, like you, there were several scenes that truly scared the shit out of me. And it's been a long time since I could really say that about a horror movie. So, "perfect"? No..."Top Shelf"? You better believe it!
      Take care.

More positive reviews please. I find it hard to find movie critics with similar tastes to myself and you share ever opinion on every review I have watched of yours which is almost all of them. I don't have much time to just search for good movie reviews I can trust and I stumbled upon you from the original 13 reasons video that I loved. The insight may be minor but the explaining to why a movie is good can help people that don't know much about why they like what they like. For instance, when you were talking about why teens don't relate to movies about teens and vets don't relate to war films is something I sort of felt but didn't understand why and just thought I was being nit-picky. My suggestion would be to put in the description, like you did in this video, if the review is positive or negative and if it's positive put some bullet points without spoilers so I can watch it before I watch the video.
    Thanks so much.

Totally agree with everything that you said. Honestly, the whole movie was an experience and I don't usually watch "horror movies" in theatres, but the concept and the whole structure of the story was just awfully fantastic and I felt very satisfied with it all. I wish more movies made an effort to be as cohesive in storytelling and production value in the ways that this movie achieved.

I've never gotten so many chills while watching a movie before. Everything in the film was top-notch, and I was utterly immersed from beginning to end. The scene (you know, THAT one) absolutely floored me. I thought Alex Wolff's performance there was so horrifyingly realistic. I don't know if it was the scriptwriter, director, or Alex himself, but whoever decided to have him freeze in terror rather than start screaming like a madman is a genius. Every hair on my body was standing on end as he got into his bed, as if in a trance, and even more so when Toni's character found the body. That moment will stick with me for as long as I live.
I also want to compliment the sound design. It might not be as impressive on DVD or on streaming services, but hearing this film in the theater added so much to my experience. There were moments where I was reminded of The Shining because of how overwhelming the score was. There were other moments where I had to look behind me because they used the theater's surround sound to put scuttling/clicking noises BEHIND the audience. It didn't help that my friend and I were alone in the theater.
Hereditary is easily one of the best horror movies I have ever seen. Can't wait to see it again.

Movies tend not to physically affect me either...but like you, when I saw those nuts being chopped I was on edge....something was gonna go done. The tension and release of that scene is so palpable I was actually tensed up and clammy by the end...truly uncomfortable. My wife looked over at me with this haunted look...
I think the audience disliking the movie has to do with how emotionally brutal it is. It's a very confronting film. It throws highly volatile people at you with a stark and realistic execution.
People don't like being truly disturbed by entertainment. And this film is disturbing on many levels.

I hated Peters character the first few times I saw this movie. I thought the crying was a terrible acting choice until one of these "Hereditary Explained" videos made me feel a little empathy for him. Now I see that the crying fits were used in the same way that the figurines were used to show the characters slowly breaking down. Peter cries like an idiot when things start to get really crazy then when it ultimately hits the fan he starts calling Anne "Mommy". Anne recreates a terrible scene that she'd never be able to sell to anyone then ultimately smashes the whole thing. This movie was great. So much to unpack.

Steve caught on fire the second time the book was thrown in the fire because paemon can only possess extremely vulnerable hosts, and that was the way to make Annie extremely vulnerable, by killing one of the last things she loved right in front of her. Right after he is lit on fire, Annie's face looks shocked and then it drops and you can see the blue light in the corners, showing that paemon has possessed her body. It took me 3 viewings to figure that one out 😅

What's interesting about this film as an allegory for a non-supernatural family tragedy is that, when you think about it, everything that happened was unnecessary and preventable if people had simply talked to each other honestly from the beginning or decided to address problems head on instead of waiting for them to just go away somehow. Had Stephen told Annie about the desecration of Ellen's grave, she might have made the connections sooner. If Annie, Peter and Charlie had talked to each other about the disturbing things that had been happening to them, the connections also could have been made sooner, as well as if Annie had told Stephen that she was going to grief support groups, then he wouldn't have believed that it must have been Annie who had dug up Ellen. If Annie and Peter had talked to each other about their feelings after Charlie's death instead of bottling up everything, they wouldn't have been in such a fragile state that made them vulnerable to possession. This family needed to be in therapy badly, and instead of banding together for comfort after experiencing tragedy instead of retreating into their own separate corners, this might not have happened. If Stephen had acted on his worries over Annie's mental state earlier, this could have been circumvented, or if they'd decided to leave the house and get away from awhile. If Annie had talked to Stephen about not wanting children due to her family history of mental illness and abuse, Peter and Charlie wouldn't have been born and Ellen's plans would have been impossible. But no one talked to anyone about everything, and that's exactly how everything that was planned was made possible.
Even from Ellen's point of view- although this wouldn't have been a positive act- she could have accomplished her evil goals easier if she had involved her children and grandchildren from the start. That part doesn't make sense to me- children can easily be brainwashed and indoctrinated and could have been made to participate willingly and accept her plans, but she never told them her true beliefs.

    1) What Hereditary lacked was protagonist agency - there's nothing the family can do to stop the cult because they don't even know it exists, giving them no direction for resistance. The motif of the sacrificial lamb had to be mirrored and shown in greater extent for us to understand this - we get 'manipulated dolls' okay, but this is a few steps beyond
    2) Annie is hyper-vigilant about resisting the hereditary effects of severe mental illness and trauma, yet to fit the horror needs of the narrative, one day she becomes a different person, a "Hey look at me I'm a spiritual medium", when otherwise she (even more than her husband) should be resisting any occult practice and clinging to rationality
    3) Where Paimon is and what Paimon is doing in Charlie our outside of Charlie is too vague to track
    4) The husband it utterly under utilised and should have had his own plot line investigating the defiled cemetery and pursuing the cult, his haphazard death by vicarious immolation is B.S. and undeserved (for him) and unearned (by Paimon or the cult)
    5) The use of photo albums as visual reveals is a huge cinema cliché and should have been converted into 'Annie has made dioramas while sleep walking' or something like that

  • @curiouslyt2123

Wonderfully made movie and yes, the car sene where Charlie was decapitated was very jarring to watch as well as the mother banging her head on ceiling doorway to the attic. I’m confused also about why the father lit up and not his wife. They all took part in the ceremony wanting to or not but I didn’t get why she was only affected the 1st time. I thought no, don’t just throw the any book to outright burn when it comes to demons and occult crap. Throw one page in or a piece of paper. Not the entire book you think is the issue Incase it backfires. So when she threw it in, I thought she and her husband behind her sleeping in the couch would have started burning. I thought oh man, here she is trying to burn this book on the DL and not involve him and watch, just when she burns the think and thinks she’s in the clear, he wakes up because his foots on fire and she’s trying to put out the fire on her own arm and he’s gonna jump up and be livid with her! But nope. Only she catches fire, takes it out, puts the fire on her arm out, stamps out the fire on the book and her husband none the wiser, still sound asleep! But they all took the oath and only she was affected by this attempt at burning the book. Then she gets him later to try and burn it in her place after knowing already how it went the 1st time around and that’s even though he’s putting fire to it, she could still burn but dummy her she puts accelerant on it. He throws it in and he gets burned? But you know what, I just answered my own question. And she should have known this might happen. The person that tries but I g that book is the person that will burn as the book burns in turn. She put it in and only a bit of caught fire before she hurried to get it back out. So only a lil bit burned and it was put out so only slot of her clothing burned in turn until she put that out. Second attempt, she had him throw it back into the fire place BUT this time she poured accelerant on it do as soon as the book hit fire in the fire place, he went right up in flames just as the book did and only he did because he was the one this time that threw it into the fireplace to burn. I guess the accelerant she 1st poured on it wasn’t enough participation for her to go up with him. Sounds crazy she didn’t catch fire this second time around given that she did aid her husband in burning it but in the end it was thrown in by his hand so he suffered the burns I guess. And for dramatic affect of the movie where anyone guessing she’s crazy and she must have forgotten what happen to her the 1st time only to see him go up instead. Who know why but that’s what I think. It was ultimately destroyed second time around by his action though she pushed and aided. Crazy movie, loved every bit of it!

I completely agree with you on most points (Alex Wolff’s and Toni Collette’s performances were top notch, the filmmaking was phenomenal, and the film is able to build up tension like no other film I’ve seen before), but I personally would have preferred a more ambiguous ending. Having the whole ritual play out seemed redundant to me, as I had already worked out in my head what was inevitably going to happen by the end. To put it metaphorically, I would have rather found the missing puzzle piece myself than have it handed to me by someone else.

...Demonstratively, Hereditary is so far beyond other horror films in depth and concept ,that it leaves me sad that all other horror movies will suck a little more, for lack of a better phrase, after seeing it... My personal metaphor for Hereditary lol okay , I am a "Roller Coaster Geek" , Ive been on atleast 20 record- breaking roller coasters, then in 2013 I rode Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia..it was so intense and kick-ass, I was kinda sad in a sense .. Ergo! Lol, Intimidator 305 is the coaster equivalent of Hereditary , off the rails, damn near perfection, lots of screaming, and its so good is makes all others pale. Oh yea Dont you agree, Taylor? ... The musical score in Hereditary is so masterful and.intricate to the mood and plot, it necessitates watching only with a sub-woofer and/or quality system or headphones... Anyone else hear shades of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring ?? Hail Ari Aster !! - Andy D.

I like your review, but just an observation. You tend to start your sentences with the standard "I FEEL like". I realize that this is very much akin to someone of your age (on the younger end of the millennial's), but what's wrong with stating your point with, I believe, instead of, I feel like? Feelings can't ever be countered by someone else, which leaves zero room for debate, where as stating your BELIEFS, can.

I enjoyed the movie too. The biggest (and, pretty much only) criticism I have is the lack of police presence given that Peter left the scene of a gruesome, homicidal accident. I mean, he was smoking pot at school with his bros in what seemed like the next day. WTF? Given how well the plot and characters had been developed after "the scene," it wasn't hard to put it aside. But, I have to admit that it distracted me for about 15 minutes that Peter was never shown to suffer any negative blow back from his peers or law enforcement. I mean, that accident was pretty damn horrific. In high school, that kind of incident makes people either objects of sympathy or pariahs. In real life, you usually held for questioning. Good review, dude.

DO NOT an evening showing of this movie, it was a shitshow. I basically had the choice of seeing this movie at 10 in the evening or waiting another week to see it because of my schedule, and if I could make that decision again then I would have waited the week. Constant inappropriate laughing, talking, the bitch sitting next to me constantly was on her phone, especially right after anything scary or creepy happened I guess as a comfort but god damn was it annoying. And the constant clicking(like the girl does) from the audience as well was obvious and aggravating. Don’t get me wrong, some movies are fun watching in a packed theater like the force awakens or Spider-Man homecoming, or the room was also really fun(spoons galore), but a huge mistake with a horror movie. You have been warned.

I was arguing with my dad about this for a week or so, but now I can show him this video and be kind of satisfied. I suppose he is just used to the repetitive, action filled, ending that satisfies the viewer, intense, jump-scare horror movies.

Those climax scenes were phenomenal! Alex did a superb job, and when he started crying and begging for forgiveness to his mom, I started tearing up because I knew (as the audience) that he had no idea what was going on. That poor kid was traumatized and confused, that’s why he slapped himself thinking it was all a horrible nightmare. His crying was exactly how a child reacts when they’re absolutely frightened...almost like an abused child would cry out for his mom when he did something bad ): I hope we get more horror movies like this!

I never see movies in general on Thursday night releases... Until Hereditary.
I never see horror movies twice in theaters... Until Hereditary.
Absolute masterpiece that is now at the top of my horror list.
    Brilliant... Just fucking brilliant!

Apparently Wolff’s crying was legit crying, not false. Yeah, it sounds silly, but it still really affected me. Him under the bleachers asking his friend to hold his hand...That silence in the car after you know...

    SPOILER
My favorite part was when we see Annie at the upper corner watching Peter! Oh my god! I can't even think about it at night because i can't fall asleep. And it seems we can see things like that through the whole movie and i didn't catch it because it's very subtile... so i have to watch that movie again! But the entire movie is amazing. The best one this year I would say.

THANK YOU!!!! The two people I told this movie about came back to me saying they thought it was not good. But one of those people loves jersey shore so I didn't take their criticism that seriously.

Thank you for calling them miniatures and NOT dollhouses. I think they are telling us that as we watch, the family is also watched (though we don’t find out by who til later). They also seem to be Annie’s way of trying to sort out and understand her life.
As to the sketchbook in the fire...Paimon (the mischievous) tricks her into believing that destroying the book will kill her and free the rest of her family.
I loved this movie and I’ll probably watch it again before the day is done.
One thing that really creeped me out was how often you see the cult members in the shadows throughout the movie! 😱

THAT scene was so fucking powerful i had to pause the movie for a short while just to process it. Haven't had my expectations subverted that much in a film since watching Cloverfield blind.

You are 100% correct, Taylor. This film is brilliant and a true masterpiece. I've seen it twice now and believe me a second viewing will only make you feel stronger about it. I saw so much more in the film the second time around. For all horror movie fans (or any movie fan really), a second viewing should be mandatory.

If Green Room, The Witch, The Killing of A Sacred Deer, and Hereditary are the only films to make you feel gross inside, have you seen any movie before 2015?

Okay.. My thing with this movie. Yes, it was masterpiece.. It did everything a horror movie should do. But it fucked me up so bad. As artistically genius as it is, I hate it. I'm sorry.

The acting, cinematography, soundtrack were masterful. The only beef is I heard they changed the ending. There was so much exposition at the end that it was insulting. If it ended with him stabbing (spoiler!) it would be perfect.

    I agree!
    Hereditary is the shit!
I watched it 3 times, pausing and going over certain parts numerous times as I put it together completely. It was super fun. This film haunted me for days.
It was actually something new. So simple, yet perfectly executed.

I dont know why you think positive reviews are less important than negative reviews. Pointing out what makes excellent movies excellent is important for anyone interested in making good movies, it tells people what to aspire to. Talking about what makes movies bad tends to be more entertaining. But i think praising good movies and picking apart what makes then special is appreciating the hard work of incredible artists. I'd love to see some reviews on fantastic movies. (I'm not a fan of movies they tend to trigger my anxiety, but o love to hear people talk about movies.)
